This has just arrived in my FB Timeline. WMC will probably be bailed out as it's so iconic, but it's very sad reading:

Wales Millenium Centre update:
It is with much regret that we write to inform you that Wales Millennium Centre will remain closed until January 2021, due to the coronavirus pandemic. We are unable to put performances on our stages while social distancing measures are in place.
...
When we shut our doors, we lost 85% of our income overnight so we are taking this action now in order to secure our future. We sincerely thank all of you that have supported us so far, and look forward to the day when we can welcome you back to Wales’ home for the arts.

@Ibake I think you need to cc that letter to your own MP, too, whatever their persuasion.

And great news @TrustTheGeneGenie I'm sure you'll be smashing 👍

Just found a convenient gap in the rain to whisk Ds2 out to count minibuses while his tablet charged up a bit. Had to wrestle him a bit (his strength and impulsiveness vs my sheer heft. Only a matter of time before his heft is greater, too. Thank goodness he's a 7 stone streak of nothing) because I was buggered if I was going to venture too far from home without a raincoat, as he refuses to wear one. It started pickling down a few minutes after we got back, as it was. He's now upstairs, jumping up and down, shouting out the names of episodes of hey Duggee!

Ibake · 12/06/2020 14:59

Unfortunately @pickachew it's Esther Sodding McVey who's already failed to reply to my email expressing my views on Dominic Cummings but yes, you're right, I'll forward to her too. Maybe she'll surprise me?

TheGreatWave · 12/06/2020 15:05

Just received an update from the primary school (secondary goes to DH only) and it made me cry, so heartfelt.

DD is #3 but she only started in September in yr 3 as we moved her as it is closer to where we live now. (We waited for DS to finish yr 6 at the old school) and it has been so lovely and supportive.

Ibake · 12/06/2020 15:05

Just seen today's figures. 202. Big drop from last Friday

Well I'm going to find out whether I get redundancy within the next two weeks. I'm not sure how i can give them a start date based on that so I guess I will just have to be honest and say a max of 6 weeks? So in case I don't get it and have to hand my notice in?

I've never done this before!

Khione · 12/06/2020 15:53

My two, getting on for once. They are long dead now though

We used to have two cats just like that Khione as children. Lovely

Just had am amazing rain storm here, now it has cleared and the birds are singing. Has made me feel less guilty for not doing a daily walk of doom

Some of the replies on here about people finding the home schooling hard. FFS. "It is your duty' blah blah mine not doing much but know it is the summer term and they would just be doing plays and things anyway at this time, sports day etc.

Willitneverend · 12/06/2020 16:06

I see NS has asked for the furlough scheme to be extended. I guess this is going to be their answer in replying to angry parents. They can fuck the fuck off and fuck off some more.

MaudesMum · 12/06/2020 16:07

Indeed, @Orangeblossom78 - that statistic is good news and expressed in a nice simple way that people might understand!

I found another example of the "new normal" sucking all the joy out of life today. Nice garden re-opened near me - you need to book slots in advance. Brilliant, I thought, I can go along with a couple of friends - we can walk round and catch up as we go. But no, each slot is for a "household group". So, those of us who live alone can only go by ourselves. Of course, I could always meet friends in the carpark and we could pretend to be one "household group", but there aren't many such groups of 3 middle aged women....

TeacupDrama · 12/06/2020 16:08

just filled in an education survey about going digital learning in Scotland next year ( Augsut) how depressing I gave it both barrels in the comments section made me feel better, it was kind of diplomatic but twill be ignored

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 12/06/2020 16:11

I can't read school threads with people saying I just want school as babysitting. I'm a SAHM and it's quite nice pottering around with DD although limited as there's nothing to do, but I value what her teachers do and their interaction, the school friends that she might stay in touch with throughout her life, the experiences she won't get anywhere else and her education being led by professionals. I appreciate everything a school is. I'm not saying they're perfect but it's very unfair to describe face to face education as babysitting.

Yeah but you could have some fun with the man on the gate Grin

Orangeblossom78 · 12/06/2020 16:18

It's a shame about the garden as here the botanical gardens have opened for anyone just as before to wander though, only change is they have propped the gates open. It does get quite busy thought with people picnicking and families, children riding bikes as well... so it has actually got more busy and people ignoring the previous signs about not picnicking and bikes in there.

We got told off in there years ago for having a picnic and DCs climbing a tree but that seems OK now Confused

Orangeblossom78 · 12/06/2020 16:18

I would have gone in as a 3 no-one would bother surely

Orangeblossom78 · 12/06/2020 16:20

Wales I saw one person on such a thread saying they wanted schools open dawn to dusk dealing with pastoral care, feeding, and any issues. I replied is that not, well parenting?

Orangeblossom78 · 12/06/2020 16:21

How would it be fair to subsidise the Scots to stay home while the rest go out? Confused
