Stuck in a rut and looking for inspiration that won’t raise complaints from the DC.

Bacon and leek pasta. Cook pasta. Fry bacon, add chopped leek. Remove from heat add tub creme fraiche and a teaspoon of wholegrain mustard and half teaspoon of dijon. Return to heat and warm through.

Serve on pasta.

two in this house mince beef stew basically mince with potatoes and whatever veg I have in, or home made steak pie with chips and peas

Rockbird · 09/06/2020 15:52

Fish pie or chicken curry. Otherwise there's very little that everyone will happily eat without complaint.

Lasagna is about the only thing that we all happily eat I would say - that's always been the same dish and the dc are now grown ups. My lasagna is a legend, and both dc have always had it as their own popular dish for friends, etc. It's a useful one as leftovers are always good and it can easily stretch to extra at the table if you add veg or salad, even chips or garlic bread.

There's only me and DP, but shepherds pie is a winner. We also do what we call 'bean pie' regularly which is any sort of tinned beans - haricot, mixed beans, adzuki, whatever you fancy - cooked up with onion, tomatoes, paprika, cumin, chilli powder, treacle and vinegar, then made into a pie topped with potatoes like a shepherds pie and baked in the oven till crispy.

Roast dinner. Chicken for the kids, beef for us.

BearSoFair · 09/06/2020 16:33

Tagliatelle with bacon, onion, cherry tomatoes, and chilli. Sprinkle with cheese when serving.

iklboo · 09/06/2020 16:33

Cheeseburger pasta

CHEESEBURGER PASTA

PolaDeVeboise · 09/06/2020 16:38

Prawn linguine is our family's fave:

Prepare some olive oil with chopped chilli and garlic, let stand for an hour or so. Cook pasta, then add king prawns to oil and heat through, then mix in the with the pasta, add a packet of rocket, et voila!

Chicken fajitas is the favourite in this house. Spiced chicken, onions, peppers, cheese, guacamole, salad and a few chips on the side.

Simonsaysitschristmas · 09/06/2020 16:44

One of our favourites is very similar to @mogtheexcellent although we use double cream rather than creme fraiche, only use whole grain mustard (although now going to add Dijon the next time I make it) and also add in mushrooms.

monkeyonthetable · 09/06/2020 16:50

Used to be spag bol but one of them turned veggie. Now, it's gnocchi, roast pepper and tomato mozzarella bake with fresh basil and roux sauce. Bit of a faff but their eyes light up when it lands on the table.

weepingwillow22 · 09/06/2020 16:52

Fried sea bass with samphire, chorizo fried lentils and tomato salsa is yummy.

GazeboParty · 09/06/2020 16:54

Butterbean and sausage stew - very surprising, quick and easy winner!

riotlady · 09/06/2020 16:57

Tacos!

Babyroobs · 09/06/2020 17:02

Cajun chicken bake, not sure how it's made as dh does it but I think basically pasts, chicken, Cajun spice and crème fraiche. Very simple and always eaten by the whole fussy family.

Hellohah · 09/06/2020 17:03

DS's current favourite is Chicken Tray Bake.
Chicken Thighs, chantenay carrots and green beans sprinkled with crushed garlic, paprika, garlic and onion powder, dried parsley and 200ml of chicken stock... Cook in the oven and serve with mash (covered with the stock and chicken juice).
Also loving chicken fajitas at the minute and he'll eat anything with pasta. He loves a seafood pasta (I just use one of those lucky dip frozen bags and mix with a tin of chopped tomatoes reduced with garlic and then mix with cooked pasta).

Homemade lasagne or a roast dinner

SorryImNotCreative · 09/06/2020 17:08

A couple of new recipes I’ve tried recently are a real beef chilli and Cajun chicken pasta

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/mexican-beef-chilli%3famp

and

www.budgetbytes.com/one-pot-creamy-cajun-chicken-pasta/

I’ve also used the Kitchen Sanctuary website a lot recently. Loads of family friendly meal ideas on there.

Diverseduvet · 09/06/2020 17:12

Macaroni cheese (3 cheese) with green veg and salad

YgritteSnow · 09/06/2020 17:15

Chicken wings, tossed in oil and garlic and onion salt and then roasted in the oven. Served with a salad and noodles or home made garlic bread.

Shoxfordian · 09/06/2020 17:20

We like bacon and blue cheese pasta

Cook your bacon separately until it's crispy
Melt blue cheese and double cream together to make a sauce. Cook pasta and mix it all up. Also nice with mushrooms too.

FizzyPink · 09/06/2020 17:22

DP would quite happily eat spaghetti bolognese and chicken katsu stir fry on rotation for the rest of his life.

LuvMyBoyz · 09/06/2020 17:23

Chicken, chorizo and bean stew with crusty bread.
