Talk of pubs reopening on 22 June but not school for all years?

I am not happy seeing headlines about reopening pubs on 22 June when the priority should surely be how to get all our children back to school? Our children are missing out on education. Working parents (with the burden mainly falling on mothers in my experience) are attempting to teach and do their jobs at the same time. It is not good for parents and children's mental health and cannot continue indefinitely. I appreciate the hospitality industry and many other areas of the economy are under extreme stress, but getting children back to school has to be a priority.

@Teateaandmoretea

Children don’t need playgrounds if their parents are proactive in parenting them.

Ah here we go again. Utter nonsense. Children need to play, never in the history of man has it been banned.

I agree - children need to play. They don’t need a playground to play 🤦‍♀️
MarshaBradyo · 08/06/2020 19:35

Nurseries too.

Teateaandmoretea · 08/06/2020 19:35

I disagree hearts. Parents go into paid attractions for the playground. There is an obesity time bomb here that is hardly going to be helped by stopping children playing.

They can still run around a park

Children are banned from playing. They can’t go out anywhere on their own or play properly with their friends. It’s totally unnatural.

Teateaandmoretea · 08/06/2020 19:37

They can still run around a park

But only on their own

You are aware parks are open, right? The obesity problem won’t be solved by playgrounds being open.

Honestly, you keep coming out with even more ridiculous “points” 😂

lilgreen · 08/06/2020 19:38

Pubs can limit numbers and use gardens. Nobody will go if it’s cold or it rains, unlike schools. Schools can’t if they’re told to open for all AND socially distance. Just not enough rooms or staff.

Teateaandmoretea · 08/06/2020 19:38

Okay you tell me another time in history where children were banned from playing with others? I am actually disgusted that you find this subject funny

MarshaBradyo · 08/06/2020 19:38

It is ridiculous. Let’s move on.

Teateaandmoretea · 08/06/2020 19:39

*It is ridiculous. Let’s move on.

You actually think children being allowed to play is ridiculous?

Teateaandmoretea · 08/06/2020 19:39

I hope you aren’t actually a parent

heartsonacake · 08/06/2020 19:39

Teateaandmoretea What's that saying? Oh yes, you can’t argue with stupid.

lilgreen · 08/06/2020 19:40

Playgrounds are fun but children can still play without them. They can bike, run, walk, scooter.

Teateaandmoretea · 08/06/2020 19:40

Are you saying play isn’t important? Answer the question.

MarshaBradyo · 08/06/2020 19:40

The fact that you think they can’t play is. It’s all dd does all day. The others are finding it tougher.

Teateaandmoretea · 08/06/2020 19:41

On their own 🙄

Teateaandmoretea · 08/06/2020 19:41

All on her own all the time? Do you think that’s healthy?

heartsonacake · 08/06/2020 19:42

Of course play is important. Nobody has said otherwise.

However, children don’t need playground to be able to play.

Children will not be affected by social distancing for a few months.

Calm yourself, hun.

lilgreen · 08/06/2020 19:42

Nobody is stopping children from playing. Only their parents’ imagination perhaps?

MarshaBradyo · 08/06/2020 19:42

Well she’s the opposite of alone as her siblings are home and entertain her all day. She’s happy as Larry with the extra attention.

Teateaandmoretea · 08/06/2020 19:43

Children will not be affected by social distancing for a few months.

I totally disagree

It’s amazing how parents have no wish to advocate for children.

Go and enjoy your pint on the 22nd

Teateaandmoretea · 08/06/2020 19:43

So are siblings ‘happy as Larry’ too? Don’t they have friends?

heartsonacake · 08/06/2020 19:44

I don’t drink Confused I don’t actually think alcohol should be legal.

However, I do think the economy and jobs need all the help they can get.

Teateaandmoretea · 08/06/2020 19:45

Fair enough. I think children’s health and well-being should be prioritised for the long term.

We’ll have to agree to disagree
