My Ds, age 13 has had this appear on his back, it wasn't here at the start of the year, any ideas? I am going to make him a docs appointment. Have also found some milder ones above his knee after looking.

What on earth is this that has appeared on Ds 13 back?

Could it be stretch marks? Has he had a big growth spurt?

NickMyLipple · 08/06/2020 07:25

Yep, stretchmarks. Very very common in teenage boys who shoot up quickly! Definitely not to worry, but if he/you are concerned about aesthetics, get some bio oil and massage daily.

FabulouslyElegantTits · 08/06/2020 07:27

Bless him, they're stretch marks. Bio oil seems to be the only preventative, lots of boys seem to get them on their teens

orangeicecream · 08/06/2020 07:27

Definitely stretch marks.... Try to get some cream to lessen them

hotstepper4 · 08/06/2020 07:28

Stretch marks. I got them on my breasts and thighs in puberty. It's caused when something stretches really quickly. They fade to a silvery colour eventually

Whatayear2020 · 08/06/2020 07:31

Wow, they're some stretch marks! Is this normal then? Never heard of it before. I don't think he's shot up all of a sudden, but he's always been very very tall!

Bakedpotatoandgin · 08/06/2020 07:43

Yep pretty normal

Stuckforthefourthtime · 08/06/2020 07:47

Stretch marks. I got them when my boobs suddenly sprouted around the same age (though weirdly not any during pregnancy). There's little evidence for bio oil, laser can help a bit, but he feels self conscious and the oil gives him a feeling of control then it's worth it.

SimonJT · 08/06/2020 07:50

Stretch marks, lots of men have them on their lower to mid back. They fade to a colour slightly paler than the rest of your skin after a while.

CtrlU · 08/06/2020 07:51

Wow
They are stretch marks.

Never seen them like that though.

He looks like his morphing into superman

Theneverendingcleaningcycle · 08/06/2020 07:52

Stretch Marks. My friend got them when he had a growth spurt. All over his back and thighs. I agree the bio oil is good.

TenLun89 · 08/06/2020 07:53

They look like my pregnancy stretch marks, They are quite big for a small child.. strange place to have them too they look like the middle of his back?

I know kids get them with all the growing, my cousin got them on her hips when she was 8

Russell19 · 08/06/2020 07:55

Definitely stretch marks but bless him they are big.

Thighdentitycrisis · 08/06/2020 07:57

Agree my DS has at this age too,

LIZS · 08/06/2020 07:57

yes stretch marks , ds had them ins similar line but they have largely faded now. Thought he had been whipped when I saw them first!

Bananasplitlady · 08/06/2020 07:58

What they all said.
Dd had a huge growth spurt at 11 and got them over her hips, thighs, stomach and back. They faded a bit and she uses bio oil to reduce them further, but more have since appeared.

cptartapp · 08/06/2020 07:59

Stretch marks. My two DS never had them but my nephew does.

BradfordLass · 08/06/2020 07:59

Has he suddenly broadened across the upper back/chest? Or built muscle quickly?

Bio oil is good but it has quite a strong and distinctive smell that a teen boy might not want to waft around in, so probably encourage him to use at night.
A moisturiser for the day containing something like coconut oil will help to keep his skin supple as he grows- just beware the dreaded teen back acne- make sure he’s scrubbing his back daily in the shower using so much oil.

Panpig · 08/06/2020 08:00

They look like the rash that can accompany the infection Bartonella. I only know because I keep being bitten by ticks, and that is one of the infections they can carry, but it's most commonly transmitted by cat scratches.

MsJuniper · 08/06/2020 08:07

I have looked up what panpig said and agree they look very like this - I'd get that doctor's appointment.

Amicompletelyinsane · 08/06/2020 08:11

They look like stretch marks. My husband has stretch marks like that, a bit more spaced out, but all up his spine. We met at 18 and they aren't at bright now but def just still there

Standrewsschool · 08/06/2020 08:12

My son has them as well. Growth marks.
