Where do you hide your internet router?

I am desperately looking for inspiration! My Wi-fi router + booster box are currently housed in a charity shop find - a old wooden radio cupboard thing which does the job of hiding all the plastic gubbins/has a very useful cable feed but which I have grown to hate (too deep for room/looks really out of place).

I'd ideally like to replace it with something a lot shallower in the industrial wood/metal style, but still with some sort of way to hide all the kit/hopefully feeding cables out the back somewhere. As I am seemed to have hit a dead end, I wondered how everyone else hides their internet hardware? There must be an aesthetic way of doing this (apart from hiding stuff in tv stand which is in another room)! Please give me some ideas before I go mad...

Ours is on top of a tall bookcase in the middle room of the house. We have extenders upstairs and close to the front and back doors, they are perched on shelves, behind the coffee machine in the kitchen and on the Tv stand behind the Sky box.

Sparkling - the extenders do make a difference, we have decent wifi the length of our garden with them, it's about 20m long. Ours are from BT.

Mine just lives on the windowsil.

Ours is next to the telly. Never felt the need to hide it.

Mine is on a small table near the window in my living room. one of my cats knocked it over earlier, he was trying to catch a fly on the window.

Hide it? It's on the desk in the study next to the computer and printer ....

Mine's not shy. It sits on the cupboard.

Mines on the windowsill. I did put in on the floor behind the sofa but the signal didnt seem so good so I moved it.

I remember my grandmother having the tv in a cabinet.

Our router is in line of sight, we need all the boosting we can get

I did not know people hide it! Mine is on book shelf next to the phone on full display

Ours is in a comms cupboard DH built in the understairs that houses all the servers, amps, other gubbins for a far too technologically complicated house 😂

I bought a new one recently and found the best location was in the cupboard under the stairs, even better than in the open space of the living room. I had all sorts of issues with it in the living room when on upper floors, now it's much better even though it's now hidden away, no idea why

We have booster points throughout the house though as the thick victorian brick walls interfere with the signal

Ours is on a deep shelf above the door frame in the spare bedroom aka home office. You can only really see it when you're walking out of the room.

Oh, I thought you meant where do you hide it when you unplug it overnight to hide it from the teenagers.

In which case the answer is in the laundry basket. They will never look there.

I have never known anyone hide it! Anytime we've been to someone for the weekend they always offer up their WiFi code and just tell us to help ourselves from the card on the router which has always been in plain site.

I'm bemused. Can someone please explain why you are all hiding your routers?

It reminds me of my Nan who had a wooden TV cupboard and you had to open the doors to watch it.
