Madeleine McCann - new suspect

A 43-year-old German prisoner who travelled around Portugal in a camper van is now the focus of Scotland Yard's investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

Dd is a Madeleine born 4 months before MM disappeared. Remember so clearly waking up every morning and asking DH if she had been found.
Dd is 13 now... all those years . Unimaginable

colouringindoors · 03/06/2020 22:17

I really, really hope this is the guy.

I know I know, money, white family, etc etc

But the pain those parents have been in since 2007 is unimaginable. If this can give them some closure then I'm glad.

Makingsherbet · 03/06/2020 22:17

I hate this unkind attitude towards the parents. They left their kids alone, which is something I would have never considered and don't really understand how or why they did this but they have paid the ultimate price Sad.

The news about the new suspect is chilling, I have always thought this was such an unsettling case. It seems for the first time that they may really have a lead. The reports about the cars is really chilling as are the photos of the suspects accommodation.

I hope the German police will solve the case once and for all and MM's family find closure and peace.

I have always thought of MM's mum as vulnerable. Not wanting to speculate but I feel incredibly sorry for her and hope she gets the support she deserves.

nextslideplease · 03/06/2020 22:20

I do hope we can find out what happened to Maddie but I don't think this will come to anything. Too much time has passed.

Never thought her parents harmed her, but they did neglect her.

JingsMahBucket · 03/06/2020 22:20

I also still think it’s weird that the U.K. government (and public?) has spent so much money and time/man hours looking for just one girl for the last 13 years. They certainly don’t give other runaways or abductions this much attention, especially if the child isn’t “English Rose” looking.

If police were willing to put this much effort into the other missing children, imagine how much good that could do. But alas, she was blonde and “cute“ so let’s throw all the resources at her.

Sparklingbrook · 03/06/2020 22:21

@Noeuf

So yet another thread with all the posters crawling out from under their rocks to point figures because of some YouTube videos they've watched and because Kate MCCann didn't cry enough.

Was an interesting development, now awaiting thread deletion thanks to those who just can't help themselves.

It's always the same. They can't help themselves. Posting stating they know it will be deleted. What's the point in that?
madcatladyforever · 03/06/2020 22:22

I cannot imagine the mentality of someone who knows what happened yet would let a whole family suffer like this for 13 years.
My neighbours lost a child and although they knew what happened to him they both grieved terribly all of their lives.
She died at 70 and him at 72 very young these days, neither of them had any serious health conditions nor smoked and were fit and well all of their lives but the grief increased in their latter years and they both dies of blood clots/strokes which was thought to have been caused by years of stress,
It was tragic, they were the life and soul of our street but behind closed doors their lives were filled with sadness.

highmarkingsnowbile · 03/06/2020 22:23

why they did this but they have paid the ultimate price sad.

The little girl did.Sad

BlackberryCane · 03/06/2020 22:24
@BlackberryCane I just don't understand why so many people are quick to defend them when there are so many things that don't add up.

No I'm not an expert but I've watched the reports/videos of experts analysing them,
I suppose most people believe in innocent until proven guilty, doesn't mean people are truly innocent. We can speculate it's natural.
Which is all fine, you can think whatever, but honestly all I'm interested wrt your views is whether you know anything about the subject area. And you've kindly clarified you do not. It's very difficult to cut through the swathes of bullshitting and delusion that the McCanns inspire; the easiest way is simply to ask.

Makingsherbet · 03/06/2020 22:25

ODFOD Biscuit what a nasty comment.

Heygirlheyboy · 03/06/2020 22:25

I know a similar couple madcatladyforever nearly 40 years on and it's written on their faces everyday Sad

JingsMahBucket · 03/06/2020 22:27

@Makingsherbet it’s true though. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Which other case has used up this amount of resources?

colouringindoors · 03/06/2020 22:27

makingsherbert I agree.

I am also appalled by the thousands of people who appear to gave decided she's guilty because she didn't cry on camera.

I've experienced a couple of horrendously traumatic events. It was many months before I could cry.

Shannon Matthew's mum cried.

SouthWestmom · 03/06/2020 22:27

JingsMah
Perhaps you could start a thread to advocate for them? I'm definitely not aware of other possible abductions with no probable outcome aside from maybe a handful.

Sparkling
I know. Just disappointing to wade through the dross to get to any new discussion

m.dw.com/en/german-sex-offender-identified-as-suspect-in-madeleine-mccann-disappearance/a-53675625

This is interesting though, says suspected of holiday complex burglaries

SchadenfreudePersonified · 03/06/2020 22:30

But alas, she was blonde and “cute“ so let’s throw all the resources at her.

ODFOD biscuit what a nasty comment

Yes, nasty - But unfortunately it is true

PorpentiaScamander · 03/06/2020 22:30

I've almost finished reading the book by the Father of Holly Wells. He talks a fair bit in that about how he was worried about how the public would perceive him and his wife in the aftermath of her disappearance. At one point they went to a football match and met David Beckham. To an outsider, especially with media spin, that could easily have been seen as them out enjoying themselves and not "crying enough". I guess the difference here is that their daughter was found and someone charged and found guilty of her murder.
Gingerkittykat · 03/06/2020 22:30

I googled more {{https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/9004618/madeleine-mccann-suspect-german-paedophile-child-killer/ info]] about the suspect and the resemblance to the photofit is chilling.

TheFairyCaravan · 03/06/2020 22:30

Every thread on MM brings out the nasty bastards. What do you gain from being such vile bitches? Does it make you feel better about yourselves?

I hope this new lead brings closure for Kate and Gerry. They've just said on the BBC news that the German police are treating it as a murder inquiry which is very sad but probably to be expected.

endofthelinefinally · 03/06/2020 22:30

My son died. My health is destroyed. At least I know what happened to him. Still I will never get over it. I cannot imagine how those poor parents get through each day. I really can't. How they haven't lost their minds I do not know.

Anon20201 · 03/06/2020 22:31

There’s some really nasty comments on here. Regardless of how wrong it was to leave MM in room, Don’t you think her mother regrets this everyday? Then to have strangers also point out her biggest mistake and regret. She has to live with this for the rest of her life. Why don’t we all instead send positive thoughts out that may she be found safe and quickly and be reunited with her family.

JingsMahBucket · 03/06/2020 22:31

@Noeuf why bother? Then MN users would just accuse me of being “reverse racist” or some other BS that doesn’t actually exist because they don’t like being uncomfortable about systemic racism that leads an entire government to preference one child over several hundred thousand others.

No thanks, I’m good.

Thisismytimetoshine · 03/06/2020 22:33

Shannon Matthew's mum cried.
Shannon Matthew's mum smirked like a halfwit, right there on camera.
That outcome wasn't a huge surprise to a lot of people.

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 03/06/2020 22:34

I hope so much that they get some answers and that they can find some peace. It is a tragedy and a heart-shattering situation.

JingsMahBucket · 03/06/2020 22:34

BTW, I actually do hope they get some sort of closure/real lead in the case. If this doesn’t produce a proper lead, I’d advocate for the police to stop allocating large amounts of resources at this point.
