A thread for people who enjoy savoury snacks over sweet treats

I just had a whole mozzarella topped with chopped baby tomatoes, a little garlic oil, balsamic glaze, some fresh basil and some black pepper. I ate it out of a bowl with a spoon like normal people might eat icecream.

Other Saturday night highlights from previous weeks include toasted red onion and goats cheese sandwiches, tinned Anchovies and olives and Pate on salted biscuits with a fig chutney.

Give me some savoury inspiration for next Saturday

I’ve had half a bag of peanut curlys this evening.

Your mozzarella dish is exactly my type of thing.

I’m a big fan of a plate of homemade butter rah hummus, or tzatziki, topped with good olive oil and toasted pine nuts with a whole meal pitta and some carrot sticks.

I can’t buy chorizo anymore because I just stand infront of the fridge in my pants at 1am chewing on it.

That's me.
Ive not had snacks tonight but Im a totally savoury person.

stardance · 30/05/2020 21:49

I like homemade pitta chips/ crisps, made in the air fryer. Tiny bit of olive oil and some chilli salt.

Can't beat cheese and crackers. Or pate on crackers. Or just some really nice bakery bread, thick slices spread with proper butter.

IHaveBrilloHair · 30/05/2020 21:53

For inspiration you need dolmades, any type of spanish/Italian cold meat, ditto olives.
Boquerones, artichoke hearts, olive oil breadsticks, smoked almonds, tapenade.
Cheese, cheese, cheese, cheese.

Ilovesausages · 30/05/2020 21:54

These all sound
Amazing.

For dinner tonight I’m baking a while Brie in puff pastry with some apricot jam - I feel like that could be included here.

highmarkingsnowbile · 30/05/2020 21:55

I had a salad nicoise with garlic bread. I don't like sweets.

I thought I was the only one 🤣

Some aren't spicy enough. Coop 2 for £5 I could eat a whole one daily.

IHaveBrilloHair · 30/05/2020 22:00

I absolutely love olives of course, my favourites are queen greens or kalamatas, but I'll eat any.

Chiyo666 · 30/05/2020 22:02

I drive 25 miles to my nearest Waitrose to get chorizo because it’s naice Grin

Hungry now

MahMahMahMahCorona · 30/05/2020 22:11

A whole warm ciabatta dipped into a whole yummy mixture of balsamic and olive oil...

highmarkingsnowbile · 30/05/2020 22:24

Olives are the food of gods. After a long walk on a hot day. Get a shower. Pour a glass of wine, nibble olives, salted nuts and sundried tomatoes before making dinner.

dollface19 · 30/05/2020 22:35

Taramasalata 😋 (Greek dip) with crusty baguette, manchego cheese, Brie, smoked cheese, pate, gerkins, black olives

I could go on n on n on

Inextremis · 30/05/2020 22:38

I'm addicted to red grapes wrapped in Serrano ham.

IHaveBrilloHair · 30/05/2020 22:45

Oooh, taramasalata is one of my favourites, I like it on foccacia with extra lemon juice squeezed on top.

Impatientwino · 30/05/2020 22:49

I just did an involuntary soft moan and DH just asked me what I was looking at on my phone Grin

Erm, snacks Blush

I recently made the below chorizo in red wine tapas and oh my it's good! The mopped up juices on bread

AgeLikeWine · 30/05/2020 22:52

I often make myself a Greek salad. Cucumber, ripe tomatoes, red onions & black olives tossed in good olive oil & Oregano and topped with a lump of proper feta. Absolutely delicious, and far tastier than a cupcake.

TwigTheWonderKid · 30/05/2020 23:03

Ooh...piquante peppers stuffed with ricotta, parma ham and marinated artichokes. Hungry now.

IHaveBrilloHair · 30/05/2020 23:26

I generally don't like peppers at all, but once a year I do get some padron peppers and eat them all to myself.
(They repeat on me horribly and aren't worth it except for padrons)

aaaand that's chorizo added to the shopping list Grin
elp30 · 31/05/2020 15:53

I'm all about the dips and the spreads!

Guacamole
Hummus of most flavors
Salsas of all kinds
Garlic dip
Spinach & Artichoke
Tzatziki
Pinto bean with chiles
Beer cheese
Queso
Peanut
Tapenade

Serve with pita bread, tortilla chips, homemade bread, thin bread sticks, baby carrots, cucumbers, peppers, celery, sugar snap peas, cauliflower, broccoli, radishes, pretzels, crackers...

Obviously, charcuterie boards appeal to me. So much savory goodness!
