A thread for people who enjoy savoury snacks over sweet treats

I just had a whole mozzarella topped with chopped baby tomatoes, a little garlic oil, balsamic glaze, some fresh basil and some black pepper. I ate it out of a bowl with a spoon like normal people might eat icecream.

Other Saturday night highlights from previous weeks include toasted red onion and goats cheese sandwiches, tinned Anchovies and olives and Pate on salted biscuits with a fig chutney.

Give me some savoury inspiration for next Saturday

Dippy eggs with marmite soldiers. Marmite toast. Marmite pasta. Marmite and cheese pasta. How did I forget about marmite 😱

@pastabest, thanks for the link for the fig chutney 🙂
Might try some of that with manchego cheese.

I have found my people

Also pork scratchings. Thought the tone needed lowering a bit.

The Co-Op of all places now sell a roasted tomato sourdough half loaf.

My new favourite thing is a toasted sandwich made in the panini maker with this bread, a tiny scraping of butter on the outside of the sandwich, grated cheddar and very thinly sliced ripe large tomatoes and black pepper on the inside. Grilled till all is golden and the cheese is starting to ooze outside. It is like heaven on a plate.

Bovril on toast, toasted pitta dipped in guacamole and crispy, salty chicken skin are my 3 favourite foods ever Smile

Cheese on toast with a dollop of ketchup for dipping is the perfect evening snack.

Or buttery crumpets. Or a salami & cream cheese bagel. Or homemade cheese & marmite straws. Too many delicious things now whizzing round my mind!

Already planning snacks for tomorrow evening!

@AppleFruitloaf66 I found a jar of christmas home made fig and pear chutney in a cupboard when I was clearing out last week, had it with some tesco salted crackers n thin slices of manchego, couldn't believe our luck at still having it stashed

Used this recipe, couple of apples and the rest pears.

This is my kind of thread. If the doctor told me I could never eat chocolate again or I'd die I would give it up without a second though. If he told me I couldn't eat crisps I'd reach for the nearest bag of lime Doritos and overdose.

I'm glad you've bumped this old thread @Welikebeingcosy! Funny to think it was started when we were in the throes of Covid. Life has moved on in so many ways since then, some good and sadly some bad Sad

But if I had known in the dark days of Covid that in the not too far off future there would be invented the sheer utter perfect bliss of the Marmite Graze snack, I think that would have been of some comfort.
