Gin and coffee - what brand(s), blend(s) are you using now ?

Just finished last year's Tanqueray and I would have bought another bottle but it's still full price everywhere (I'm cost-conscious) so I've plumped for the Morrison's London Dry. 43% so a decent kick to it and I've always been pleased with it before.

I'm using my cafetiere every day since about mid-March and I'm so far sticking to Morrison's Best Guatemalan ground coffee. I tried the Ethiopian blend but I found it a bit too fruity.

This might sound like an advert for Morrison's but I promise you it isn't. At least not intentionally Wink. It just happens to be my nearest supermarket.

Gordon's Gin and Nescafe Espresso.

weepingwillow22 · 29/05/2020 10:01

I really like Gin Mare with rosemary in it.

Dozer · 29/05/2020 10:01

DarkWoods coffee - Under Milk Wood. Expensive but worth it!

Lavazza Red for real coffee.

Cakemonger · 29/05/2020 10:04

Aldi Oliver Cromwell London dry gin - such a bargain at £9.99. Love it with fever tree mediterranean tonic water. Also enjoying Edinburgh Gin navy strength Cannonball

Don't drink coffee I'm afraid Smile

MrAlyhakinsMassiveYacht · 29/05/2020 10:05

Taylor's Hot lava Java and Ophir oriental spiced. £19 in Tesco atm and very nice, although I love Brecon gin and it's usually on Amazon deals also, but the bottle doesn't fit on my drinks shelf.

ITonyah · 29/05/2020 10:05

Cakemonger I love that tonic water. Have you tried the cucumber one? I think I now prefer it.

MuddledUpAgain · 29/05/2020 10:08

Greenalls with cucumber fever tree is lovely. Very light and refreshing.

MrBennsshop · 29/05/2020 10:09

Lidl Hortus - either citrus garden or the artisan London dry. Great value, lovely flavour and both are prize winning gins.

DoraemonDingDong · 29/05/2020 10:11

Lavazza Red or a blend from the local coffee shop.

Switching between Bombay Sapphire and the Aldi version (also a blue coloured bottle) - tried their Hendrix-style gin last year and didn't like it.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 29/05/2020 10:11

Gin - Portobello Road, with Fentimans Connoisseurs tonic water

Coffee - don't drink much (brought black forest flavour instant coffee back from South Africa and drinking that at the mo)

JessicaDay · 29/05/2020 10:12

Taylor’s Lazy Sunday Coffee. Kirsty’s Gin by Arbickie.

MrBennsshop · 29/05/2020 10:14

For a non budget gin, Brockmans and Monkey 47 are my favourites

TimeWastingButFun · 29/05/2020 10:15

Gin- Hortus gin from Lidl. Really nice and really good value, we've always got a bottle in the freezer now. Coffee - Sainsbury House Blend Medium Fair Trade (ground or beans). It's lovely and smooth, lots of people have commented on where we get it!

TimeWastingButFun · 29/05/2020 10:16

You've just got me simultaneously wanting a coffee and a G&T. And it's only the morning and I'm on the 16:8 😭

RiftGibbon · 29/05/2020 10:16

Jawbox pineapple and ginger, Da While seaweed gin, Aldi topaz blue gin.
I don't drink coffee much but recently discovered oat milk instant lattes which are nice albeit not very frothy.

kingkuta · 29/05/2020 10:18

Liverpool Gin. Its beautiful, by far the nicest I've ever tasted (and that's a lot, nearly 30 years of gin drinking Grin) but quite pricey

I'm drinking Lavazza coffee. I drink Decaff and it's the best I've found so far

Ginandbearit1 · 29/05/2020 10:20

I love the Sipsmiths gins, Lemon Drizzle is my current favourite. Fever Tree tonic is the best, love it!

BarbaraofSeville · 29/05/2020 10:32

I'm not bothered about coffee but I've just built up my gin collection thanks to some special offers from The Drop Store after seeing a recommendation on here.

They are currently doing 2 bottles of Liverpool gin for £45 with free delivery, which is almost buy one get one free. I had the orange one in an advent calendar a couple of years ago and really liked it but haven't been able to bring myself to pay the £35-40 a bottle price tag, but now I have two full bottles for only £22.50 each.

Also Aber Falls at 3 for £45, which I bought two marmalades and a normal one after seeing a recommendation on here but haven't opened yet.

I like citrusy ones and second the recommendation for Lidl Hortus. But I'm currently near the end of a bottle of Malfy Limon, which I liked very much, I bought one of each on a Black Friday deal from Amazon, the original one was very nice, but I haven't had the orange or grapefruit ones yet.

Tonic-wise, I like Waitrose own brand in small cans, but they don't seem to have them recently, so I've had to buy it in plastic bottles, which while being cheaper, doesn't seem to be quite as fizzy, goes flat if you don't drink it all in a day or two, and obviously comes in plastic bottles, which I'm trying to avoid.

RiftGibbon · 29/05/2020 10:38

^Da Mhile. Autocorrect stepped in just as I posted.

AGoodYearfortheRoses · 29/05/2020 10:41

I'm loving the Aldi gin selection, currently on Rosemary and Thyme with any of their flavoured tonics which are a great bargain and very Fevertree-esque.

Coffee-wise I'm not that fussy but I do like Nescafe Azera.

HaudMaDug · 29/05/2020 10:41

Nescafe Gold Blend Intense for coffee but never tasted gin in my life (Chase Vodka being my go to if I drink at all) so reading for recommendations on here for losing my Gin virginity.

SweetPetrichor · 29/05/2020 10:43

I'm not a coffee drinker, but for gin I'm currently rotating around:

Isle of Harris sugar kelp gin
Wild Island Sacred Tree
Beinn An Tuirc Kintyre gin
Lussa gin

That makes it seem terrible, but I only drink one drink once or twice a month at most...I just like a good variety of nice options for when I do!

missyB1 · 29/05/2020 10:44

Millicano instant coffee - Dh gets cross at the price Grin
I’m longing for a bottle of Silent Pool gin but it’s V expensive so it’s on my birthday list.

AlCalavicci · 29/05/2020 10:45
