Would you have them in your home?

Macrame can be hit or miss so curious to see what people say.

I like the candlelit jars but other that that I’m not a fan of this string type stuff to be honest.

WinterAndRoughWeather · 23/05/2020 19:33

I bloody love macrame.

And Joni Mitchell.

And roast lamb.

Slave2love · 23/05/2020 19:33

I'm afraid it's a no from me...

Bubbletrouble43 · 23/05/2020 19:36

Maybe you need to make more functional items op like storage, lightshades, bags even. I think people nowadays don't have room or time for non functional items in their home, I know I don't. Just looking pretty maybe isn't enough.

InAGarden · 23/05/2020 19:36

I love the plant hangers and am planning to get one for my bedroom, also table runner is nice.

anothermansmother · 23/05/2020 19:39

No, I'm not a big fan of anything that can't be washed or wiped down to keep clean. However the chair would be great in the garden. Maybe go for outdoor type stuff as it sells really quickly here.

bluefoxmug · 23/05/2020 19:39

oh yes, a foldaway shopping bag would be great!

Theukisgreatt · 23/05/2020 19:42

Very popular on IG.

SpringFan · 23/05/2020 19:42

I like the plant hangers.
Also, if you are looking for ideas, I have a macrame Santa, Snowman , and Father Christmas about 12 to 15 inches which I hang on the windows at Christmas. I have had loads of compliments about them. I have had them years, I think my cousin made them when the kids were young.

Chillipeanuts · 23/05/2020 19:43

No, sorry.

I like the more functional items like the plant hangers and the screen, not the wall hangings
I'm also old enough to remember this the first time round, but back then it was all 'natural' colours and quite dark, these are lighter and look more contemporary

Ginkypig · 23/05/2020 19:49

If you do decide to make stuff come back and show us your stuff please Smile

I like the plant holders but would want a heavy duty one for heavier plants!
I like the chair but couldn't have it.
I like the moon but wouldn't want it in white.
A fold away shopper would interest me if it was washable.

DarylDixonsHair · 23/05/2020 19:50

@Herpesfreesince03 Google macrame moon wall hanging. They sell them on Wish and Amazon. I posted a photo of an Amazon listing for you but managed to get my delivery address in the photo so had to ask mn to delete it 😁

I think the chair would be great for a kids room/nursery

Yoyoallovertheshow · 23/05/2020 19:52

Not sure if age is a factor, i'm 30 so too young to have seen it in the 70's, and i love it all!

Lalala205 · 23/05/2020 19:58

I love the chair! Unfortunately I think it'd not last long 30sec under the weight of my bottom 😒

DarylDixonsHair · 23/05/2020 19:59

Was macrame jewelry popular in the 70s?This is similar to what I used to sell. Its very popular in hot countries but doesn't sell in cooler climates for some reason.

Love them!

mangomama91 · 23/05/2020 20:00

I love them, especially the moon but I would expect they collect a lot of dust

Legoandloldolls · 23/05/2020 20:02

I can appreciate the beauty of the craft but it's not for me. Dust springs to mind for one reason

WatchingFromTheWings · 23/05/2020 20:02

Nope. Dust catchers.

midsomermurderess · 23/05/2020 20:07

Is this going to be the next big thing, after mid century? As a child of the q970s it feels and looks dreary. It's be brown hessian next.

Lalala205 · 23/05/2020 20:09

The jewellery is lovely OP but I can see why it sold better in hot climates. I'd be very happy to team any of those with a sun dress and espadrilles.

crimsonlake · 23/05/2020 20:13

I originally thought they were your own ideas and though not to my taste I thought how talented.
Basically I think you need to come up with something original yourself and post photos on here asking if anyone would buy them rather than use someone else's work as examples.
If you look on Etsy you can probably see how well such things sell yourself.
Good luck.
