Would you have them in your home?

Macrame can be hit or miss so curious to see what people say.

@Herpesfreesince03 Oh it's not my stuff! Just brainstorming ideas at the minute.

Yes but to be honest I'm a bit of a crafter so i'd have a go at making it myself rather than buy it from someone else.

Bluntness100 · 23/05/2020 19:09

Op, how about opening an Etsy shop? Loads of people make stuff and sell it on there. If people like it then that would give you a platform for it.

Make a few things and put them up for sale on there.

Samtsirch · 23/05/2020 19:10

I love the candle jars, especially if they were in different colours too.

RaininSummer · 23/05/2020 19:10

As above, if I wanted something like that I would make it which doesn't help you.

JoMarches · 23/05/2020 19:11

I never knew that’s what that was called.
Now I can say I definitely do not like macrame, Grin!

Letsplough · 23/05/2020 19:14

I love it all especially the table runner and cushion.

Sunnytimesahead · 23/05/2020 19:14

I think they look nice but like another poster said I would consider them to be dust catchers and so I wouldn’t buy them personally.
I’m sorry to hear about your business. I hope you can get another one up and running soon.

DarylDixonsHair · 23/05/2020 19:17

To everyone saying they are dust catchers, is it because of the material? Or are dust catchers any sort of extra furnishing like pictures, candles, ornaments, etc?

I've seen a lot of that type of stuff recently but it's not to my taste.

The lady I know who does macrame does bride and groom chair covers for weddings and bouquet wraps as well as the usual plant hangers etc. Might be a market worth exploring, not that there will be many weddings for a while.

Mucklowe · 23/05/2020 19:21

No way. Feathery floaty fire hazards.

magicmallow · 23/05/2020 19:22

really pretty! love them. I'm a designer!

Herpesfreesince03 · 23/05/2020 19:22

@daryldixonshair I’m devastated! Where did you get those pictures from? It’s hard when it comes to things like this as everyone has different tastes. I think you’d do quite well making things like this though

Littleshortcake · 23/05/2020 19:24

I like them but wouldn't have them in my own home. I think ours is too farm style / antiques (if that is the right way to explain it). They would suit a more boho home. They are very pretty.

I’m early 30s and personally they aren’t to my taste.

The only thing I can say though is if you are looking to make and sell something similar, it seems the only way nowadays is to get some instagram “celeb” to show an item and then all their followers seem to flock to buy it whether they like it or not. Seems a shame as it’s such a gamble but it seems like thats the way to sell now :(

DarylDixonsHair · 23/05/2020 19:28

@TheThingWithFeathers It was wedding decor that first caught my eye! Those macrame backdrops and chair covers are so quick and easy to make and people charge a fortune.

I like the plant holders and possibly a rug for the beach.

DarylDixonsHair · 23/05/2020 19:30

I realise I've just outed myself with that photo 🤦‍♀️

The plant holders are lovely

Nighttimefreedom · 23/05/2020 19:31

@DarylDixonsHair yes you have, get it deleted. Report your own post and they can delete it.

RubyMonster · 23/05/2020 19:32

I’d like them if they were colourful but I’m not a fan of beige and white etc.

DarylDixonsHair · 23/05/2020 19:32

@Nighttimefreedom Thank you, I've done it.

I love macrame, I was raised in the 70s and my mum was mad for it. I even made a plant holder with her when I was little. Feels very nostalgic and retro and yes I'd buy them.
