I’m feeling murderous for you cheeky chops..what a terrible situation.
My friend had one of those awful strokes at age 63 ..so devastating. She’s still in the care home, three years later..
My dh had a stroke, we were so lucky. It knocked out his peripheral vision so sadly he cannot drive but luckily it wasn’t paralysing.
I could get hold of NS by her scraggy neck and wring it.
I hope there’s a huge backlash after all of this

And the description of holding pens for children just makes me want to weep...I hope children vote with their feet..and shout fuck off, were not doing it

In an ideal world.
My home edded grandchildren would argue long and vociferously why this would not be a good idea...even the youngest 10 year old.

When the revolution comes.....just try to do your own thing..till then

Cheekychops73 · 18/05/2020 15:16

@ilovecardigans how sad. It's terrible this whole situation> I hope they get to see each other soon. Xxx

RubberDinghyRapids · 18/05/2020 15:17

I'm so gutted for you guys beyond the borders. I used to quite envy you with NS but recent events... wow. You can keep her!

I've had two relatives turn up unannounced in my house (which is fine with us in non-Covid times. We're not the appointment types and freely pop round) but first one needed the loo and second popped into the house to drop stuff off (I'm stuck under DD asleep so couldn't get up and speak at the door). Now totally consumed by worries about being judged by the neighbours instead of just being able to be happy to have seen them.

Cheekychops73 · 18/05/2020 15:25

@Dowser thankyou I am so happy for your husband & you although he's been left with some disabilities it's good to hear news like this. The impact from my mums stroke has totally ripped through our lives and while trying to deal with it all this happened. I am hoping for a backlash too and think it will come not everyone I know is like the posters on here calling for lockdown until the next century though there are a few. People are getting slowly and steadily more and more pissed of by the day here. Xxx

LilacTree1 · 18/05/2020 15:27

Rubber the neighbours can think what they like.

It’s if they’re likely to call the police that’s an issue.

Cheekychops73 · 18/05/2020 15:28

@RubberDinghyRapids I felt like that when my older boys came over the first time after a few weeks of not seeing them an dI ushered them out the back door after ten mins, after a day I got over it and now they pop in weekly have dinner etc and I just enjoy it and don't give a thought to the neighbours. It's the only thing I can control up here and it is not being removed from me. P.S I hug my boys too & don't even care Xxx

ilovecardigans · 18/05/2020 15:29

Thanks @Cheekychops73. Fortunately, they are all very stoical, working-class Scots who just get on with stuff and manage crappy situations they can't do anything about. They all hate Sturge though (and did so long before this - you should hear my MIL go on a full rant about her!)

I was going through old photos this morning and found the attached from an old trip to Edinburgh when my friend and I visited the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art. It's not the clearest, but the message reads 'there will be no miracles here'. No kiddin'...

Just had a good chat with my son who is a carer .
Life hasn’t changed much for him. Plenty of work in the community
He’s fit , well and healthy.
They didn’t go out that much so not missing the local amenities that much.
One child is at local uni, another at 6 th form and the youngest is school phobic...so there we are..job done.
They live next door to a country park, so the 17 year old gets plenty of opportunity to keep fit he is a footballer so that’s all stopped
Other than that it’s college work For exams, and wall to Xbox ( talks to mates) and wall to wall net flix
Trying to get his mum to loosen her grip and let him come down and valet my car..but she gets a paranoid at times.
A big part of our conversation was the lack of loos when he’s out and about in the community in another town..as he so delicately put it..he knows which houses he can take a shit in.
Honestly..kids eh?
Lol

RubberDinghyRapids · 18/05/2020 15:35

Thanks Lilac and Cheeky. I'm typically very subservient to any form of perceived authority and a strict rule keeper (mocked heavily at uni for waiting for the green man to cross a road etc) so I get very conflicted when I'm forced into rule breaking. When the first one arrived and asked to use the loo I freaked out a bit (yes I know, need to give head a wobble) and she was going to walk to my sisters a few roads away to appease me. Which meant I had a choice of my neighbours judging me, or my sister. Who would have thought I was bonkers and fucking rude.

Didn't think I was going to drink today but might after all.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 18/05/2020 15:36

@GoatyGoatyMingeMinge

My knowledge of chemistry is 30 years out-of-date, but actually alkaline I think

You're quite right, sorry - brain fart. What I type and what I mean sometimes seem to be different things, in the same way that I will give directions in the car along the lines of "Left here. Left. FUCK, THE OTHER LEFT!"

I know what I mean, it's just conveying it to others Grin

They are demand 2m distancing for all pupils even early years

It asks members to go through a 20-page checklist with their school, saying it will only be safe to go back when every answer is “yes”.

It also said there would be limited teaching possible when pupils do return. “It will not be safe to mark children’s books during this period,” it says. It asks teachers to check “clear instruction be given that no marking should take place”.

Fucking hell. How about we just close all schools for the next ten years, will that be satisfactory?

Nihiloxica · 18/05/2020 15:43

How about we just close all schools for the next ten years, will that be satisfactory?

That would be ideal.

Just keep paying those teacher's salaries, though.

Dowser · 18/05/2020 15:44

Good for you cheeky chops..we need your mum on here cardigans
Going into full rant mode..just what’s needed.

LilacTree1 · 18/05/2020 15:49

Rubber so it’s the judging, okay.

cardigans I first saw that when my dad was dying and he’d asked me “how much does Jesus charge for a miracle”. That’s his idea of a joke, btw.

I actually like it, the starkness of it. I don’t cope well when people try to sugar coat reality, or be optimistic. It annoys me.

Re the schools

I don’t have children so haven’t picked up on whether government are insisting on social distancing in schools or whether unions are saying it in order to make it impossible to open schools?

Given that lots of people have worked throughout this - as would I if I’d not been made redundant- I honestly wonder of the people who object to returning to work actually might not. Maybe they have other money or something else they want to do. Of course, other money is the biggest factor.

ilovecardigans · 18/05/2020 15:51

I'm so excited! My Ringtons delivery lad has just arrived and I have proper tea at long last. Haven't had deliveries for weeks and thought there wouldn't be for a while yet. The lad said he'd never had so many people so happy to see him. Grin

Orangeblossom78 · 18/05/2020 15:52

Everyone over age of five in the UK with symptoms can now be tested for coronavirus, Health Secretary Matt Hancock has announced.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-52713127

Hmm. Test doesn't look pleasant to say the least. Mine have hay fever hope they don't get hassled with this

Orangeblossom78 · 18/05/2020 15:53

more dementorish drama about people out and about

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-york-north-yorkshire-52704317

locals were incensed!

ilovecardigans · 18/05/2020 15:55

I don’t cope well when people try to sugar coat reality, or be optimistic. It annoys me. me too, @LilacTree1

@Dowser - oh aye, she takes no prisoners! She'd give Sturge what for if she ever met her. Grin

Orangeblossom78 · 18/05/2020 15:57

Fish and chips, wine, wild camping. Oh dear.

ilovecardigans · 18/05/2020 15:59

So 8 people is now a 'mass gathering'. Fuck me sideways. Shock

Orangeblossom78 · 18/05/2020 16:00

Lilactree "I don’t have children so haven’t picked up on whether government are insisting on social distancing in schools or whether unions are saying it in order to make it impossible to open schools?"

Giva re saying they can't always stay 2m apart especially little ones so are recommending a 'bubble' idea such as used in Denmark where pupils stay in small groups

Some Unions saying they need to stay 2m apart (whether or not to keep schools closed not sure) and a raft of other things.

However this does not seem to be the main one (NUT) but another union that I have not heard of before...Confused

Orangeblossom78 · 18/05/2020 16:00

Meant to say "Gov are" not "giva re"

Orangeblossom78 · 18/05/2020 16:01

How are those people in their own wee tents spreading the virus around anyway? Bit then wild camping isn't allowed here in general I think, ironically it is in Scotland!

justasking111 · 18/05/2020 16:02

Just back from gp, that was interesting, in the back door along a corridor then sharp right into a room all other areas blocked off. Had to put on a mask. GP looked funny masked, visor, gloves, scrubs, apron ditto nurse. Glad I went though nasty breast infection, temperature high, that explains the shivers. Still got thrush from last lot of antibiotics a few weeks ago for cystitis so as well as 2000mg of antibiotics per day got thrush meds. This lockdown is not good for my health I have decided.

Pharmacy omg, screened off completely someone has made money out of perspex this year. It is like visiting the post office with just a slot to push meds through.

When I told my doc. only 4 deaths in Wales yesterday, he had not heard he was so pleased.

Dementor Drakeford said today Wales was approaching the peak now. wtf.

Nihiloxica · 18/05/2020 16:03

So 8 people is now a 'mass gathering'.

Of course.

We learnt earlier that 2 is a big number.

So 2 cubed must be a MASSIVE number.
