Domina I'm so pleased for your daughter and you Smile

DD1 broke down crying today about the school work she was assigned.

For FN she was to make chocolate muffins and she loves baking, so I thought she'd enjoy it.

"I don't want to make muffins HERE with you and Daddy. I want to make them in school with Emma and Lucia.

I don't want to do science experiments here on my own, I want to do them in a lab with Olivia and Maggie."

Her school clearly doesn't expect her to be back this academic year.

We got a VERY terse e-mail from the head with subtext that he is not happy about how long schools have been closed. I love him.

MagdaS · 18/05/2020 14:02

If I get one more email asking me if I had a good weekend they can go fuck themselves. No. I did not. It was alright by lockdown standards, but life isn't meant to be like this.

ilovecardigans · 18/05/2020 14:02

@Khione they are lovely! I could do with a couple of hodgiepigs in my garden to deal with the ever growing mollusc problem. One valliant little thrush was out there knacking snails last week though!

Cheekychops73 · 18/05/2020 14:05

@ilovecardigans amd @TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair I am okay really but this has just pissed me of no end today I am lucky in that I get my big boys to visit yes a lockdown flouter in that regard) they have had to move out and buy a flat when my mum had her stroke and my brother with downs moved in so it's been really hard on us all but we will get there in the end but this shit with being treated like a bad wee girl without a brain in my head has fucked me off. I will adhere to SD when out and wear a mask when out in a supermarket or bus though I hate it but I will not stop my kids coming over or my brothers visiting because it's the only bloody thing I have control over oh yeah and there will be lots & lots of hugs.
P.S my cousin is a nurse in the assessment unit of the big hospital in Glasgow for covid and she says they have not had uncontrollable amounts of patients it's been very manageable & though some have sadly died the have all been older with co morbidity, and, that though they will prepare for a second peak they would rather if and they are not sure if a second peak will happen it comes earlier rather than later to enable them to focus on flu season.
Xxx

Nihiloxica · 18/05/2020 14:05

Magda, I find the weekends really tough.

When life was busy (and fuck off dementors, I loved my busy life and I do NOT want a new normal of slow-paced boring bollocks) I loved a quiet weekend at home.

Now it's just no different from weekdays except I can drink more.

Cheekychops73 · 18/05/2020 14:06

@DominaShantotto great news in regards to your daughter heres hoping we can get them all back soon Xxx

ilovecardigans · 18/05/2020 14:07

@Nihiloxica your poor daughter. I'm so sorry. Sad

justasking111 · 18/05/2020 14:08

On my local FB page every day folk are finding dogs wandering the streets they advertise to find the owners. I think the dogs have had enough of the dementors and are finding their own entertainment

ilovecardigans · 18/05/2020 14:09

I loved my busy life too. When I had more to do, I did more - does that make sense?

ilovecardigans · 18/05/2020 14:10

@justasking111 Grin

Nihiloxica · 18/05/2020 14:14

Yep Smile

If you want to get something done, ask a busy person.

Orangeblossom78 · 18/05/2020 14:18

You don't think some dementors could be pretending to be or know teachers do you, I know we discussed them always seeming to know or be nurses in the past Confused

Orangeblossom78 · 18/05/2020 14:19

Wondering if primary might take youngest DS back but I guess is only 4 days anyway. He's not getting on that well with the work at home

ilovecardigans · 18/05/2020 14:20

If you want to get something done, ask a busy person.

Ha, ha - yes, I'd forgotten that saying! Very true.

Drivingdownthe101 · 18/05/2020 14:20

Definite possibility Orangeblossom78. I bloody hope so actually, as if the ‘teacher’ who keeps piping up telling parents that they just can’t be arsed to look after their own children, or that they’re bored of having them home is genuine then it’s a pretty sad state of affairs.

Orangeblossom78 · 18/05/2020 14:23

Yes i thought so too (better if they are not teachers).

I'm staying off the education threads on MN apart from here they are full of nonsense

DominaShantotto · 18/05/2020 14:23

The outrage around here is now centring on the reopened tips. Queues of 4 hours to get in there.

Whoda thought it?

One of my uni tutors has that busy person saying as her favourite. I add on "but piss off and don't ask me" mentally whenever I hear it.

Orangeblossom78 · 18/05/2020 14:23

Just seen woman and her child taking a cat (on a lead!) into our communal garden. very cute cat.

justasking111 · 18/05/2020 14:24

Grand kids nursery which they attended part time, shut down completely no word on when they might re-open. They chose not to take key workers children on. I wonder if they will open again or just retire. A shame because it was a lovely nursery, small but personal.

justasking111 · 18/05/2020 14:25

DILs cat going for spey job next week, 8 months old she is trying to escape through every open window now. A nightmare.

SockYarn · 18/05/2020 14:26

does Nicola have any awareness of mental Health issues? Does she give a fuck about anything other than independence and willy waving at Westminster because it doesn't look like it.

Showing her true colours, isn't she, @Cheekychops73. I cannot believe that someone said on that other thread that people are dying in Scotland in "huge numbers". 2 yesterday. TWO.

I saw figures last week that something like 59% of cases are in care homes in Scotland, I know one close to me which cares for people with advanced dementia and Parkinson's has been particularly badly hit. But those figures are totally skewing the fear factor and making out the overall figures to appear much worse than they are.

ilovecardigans · 18/05/2020 14:27

the ‘teacher’ who keeps piping up telling parents that they just can’t be arsed to look after their own children, or that they’re bored of having them home I know many teachers and I cannot imagine any one of them coming out with this crap.

justasking111 · 18/05/2020 14:27

Our council are in discussions about reopening recycling centre, have been for two weeks now, they are going to do an appointment system. So if you do not have an appointment you will not get in.

justasking111 · 18/05/2020 14:29

2 deaths in Scotland, 4 in Wales, 6 in N Ireland, terrifying - not.

missfliss · 18/05/2020 14:30

No news here - I'm just relieved to find a group of non hysterical people who aren't baying for blood because I think that schools opening may not be the beginning of the apocalypse
