How tall are your children if you and your dh are tall?

Me and dh are both tall. I'm 5ft 9, dh is about 6ft 2. Currently pregnant with our first but both have children from previously relationships to relatively short people. My dd has managed to be the tallest in the class despite her dad being short. So I'm wondering if the mix of me and dh is going to produce something resembling a giant. Can I ask how tall are your children if you and your partner are tall?

My parents families are both tall so, unsurprisingly, DSis and I are tall too. She is 6' and I'm 5'10". I am the shortest in the family. All of our other cousins, male and female, are upwards of 6'2".

My partners family are all average height. So our son could go either way really. He is tallish for his age - 5'5" at 12 yo but nothing stand out.

He consistently followed the 91st centile curve for height (back when I cba to plot height and weight in his red book). This predicts he'll top out at around 6'2". I think that's a good height for a man. However he plays basketball, tennis and rugby and thinks 6'2" is short Confused

Looks like I'm in for a tall one then! I've had a bit of a hang up about being so tall so I'm a bit worried about a girl taller than me but will just have to be relentlessly positive about it GrinGrin

My dh is a primary school teacher, he is 5'9 and he had a year 5 girl who was taller than him. Her parents are tall.

Husband is 6’1” and I am 5’6”.
Two daughters now adults, they are Both 5’8”

DonLewis · 17/05/2020 16:18

It's the show size you want to be worried about. As a woman, size 43/44 is difficult. My pet peeve: when companies try and tell me a 42 is a 9....

DonLewis · 17/05/2020 16:19

Shoe size. Damned autocorrect

Looneytune253 · 17/05/2020 16:21

Lol I'm 'only' 5'7 and dh is 6'3 my 16 year old is 5'7 BUT the 9 year old is 5'6 at NINE lol

RubyMonster · 17/05/2020 16:25

15yo DS is 6’6. I’m 6’1 and husband is 6’2.

Raera · 17/05/2020 16:26

Husband 6'6"
Me 5'7"
2 DD's both adults 5'9" and 6'1" (or 5'13" as she says!)
Both girls love being tall and both have tall partners, trouble is, I can't see in the bathroom mirror when I go their houses!

morethanthisprovinciallife · 17/05/2020 16:30

I am 5' 8", dh 5' 11'.

D 15, is 6' and still growing.

H1978 · 17/05/2020 16:41

I’m getting serious height envy on this thread Confused

Being 4ft 11 and dh only 5ft 2, our middle dd (15) is the same height as her dad

eldest dd is 4ft 10 (is 18yrs so won’t grow anymore I think) and dd3 (nearly 10) is the smallest in her class with tiny size 12 feet

bloodywhitecat · 17/05/2020 16:44

I'm 5'8, ex is 5'10. DD is 5'0, DS is 6'1 (both adults now) DD is probably growth restricted due to high doses of steroids in early childhood

DramaAlpaca · 17/05/2020 16:47

I'm 5'10, DH is 5'11.

Our three sons are in their 20s. DS1 is 6'2, DS2 is 6' and DS3 is 6'3.

None of them were taller than average as children, they just grew like weeds at 13 or 14.

Valkadin · 17/05/2020 17:01

I’m very average at 5ft 4, DH is about 6ft 2, DS is 6ft 5, last year of sixth form, I am quite tall for my family as they are tiddly.

cptartapp · 17/05/2020 17:01

I'm 5ft 9 and DH 6ft.
DS1 (17) is 6ft 2
DS(15) is 5ft 10 and still growing

pinkrocker · 17/05/2020 17:07

I was 3" taller than my DCs dad, I'm 5'10".
DD (14) is already the height of her dad, 5'7" like most of her mates, but DS (12) is really tiny compared to his mates. He is worried about it.

saffy1234 · 17/05/2020 17:07

I'm 5ft 8 and my sons father is 5ft 11 and our 15 year old DS is 6ft 4 ,it's crazy, but my dads brother is 6ft 6 so I think it's not always parents who define height!

saffy1234 · 17/05/2020 17:09

Also his feet are 11.5... he's still growing!

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 17/05/2020 17:09

You’re not even tall really Grin

I am 6ft1, DH 6ft3

The DSs are both 6ft4 now (17 and 15, the 15 yr old is going to be tallest)

Greenandcabbagelooking · 17/05/2020 17:20

My mum is 5 ft 10, my Dad is 6 ft 1. I am 5 ft 6. My brother is 6 ft 1. My hands and feet are very small, and I'm quite slightly built.

All my cousins on both sides are taller than me. Apparently all the women on my dad's side of the family are short, so that might explain why I'm so short compared to my mum.

My brother's children are showing all the signs of being tall, even though my SIL is smaller than me.

Genes are a funny thing.

panicstationsready · 17/05/2020 17:24

I'm 5'8" ex was 5'10" - DS1 is 6'6" and has been since school. DH is 6'2" and our DS2 is 6'3". I am the midget of the family Confused

Blobby10 · 17/05/2020 17:29

I'm 5ft 9", father of my (adult) kids is 6ft 2 *although he told me he was 6ft 4 for years!! Mine are 6ft 4 (DS1) , 6ft 7 (DS2) and 5ft 6 (dd). DD is eternally annoyed at her brothers for stealing ALL the height genes!!

maddy68 · 17/05/2020 17:32

Both mine (boy and girl now in their 20's ) are 5"10. I am 5"1 my husband is 6"1

Meruem · 17/05/2020 17:37

I’m 5”8 and DC’s dad was 6”2, yet DD is only 5”4 and DS is only 5”7! They’re both late 20’s now so no more growing to do! However literally all the rest of my family are short (the men included), so I think I was some sort of anomaly and it hasn’t passed down to my DC.

Rowgtfc72 · 18/05/2020 06:46

I'm 5ft 7, dh is 6ft 6.
Dd is just 13 and 5ft 9 with size 9 feet. Shes always followed the 99.8 centile in the red book.
