@mightbealittlebitmad there's a cluster of us around that part of the world within about 10 miles of each other. We'll be running out of people to murder with our irreverent dispositions at this rate!

Mascotte · 15/05/2020 22:54

Hi @InventedthePostIt! Sounds like you'll get along famously here 😃

Checking in.

Some days are better than others. I'm trying to stay sane re: school and accept that what will be etc.

This will end.

GoldenOmber · 15/05/2020 22:57

Really pissed off with the teachers' unions in Scotland today. Writing to the government to advise against June opening of schools and saying "Pulling pupils back for a week or even two is approaching meaningless, especially as many parents will see little value in the exercise and almost certainly keep children at home rather than run a risk to their health."

Oh really? Did you ask us? Or just skip straight to the 'but of course you wouldn't endanger your precious child' guilt-trip? Because the bigger danger to my child's health at the moment is coming from being inactive, stressed, lonely and miserable from being deprived of interaction with her peers for months, and I don't hear you speaking up about that.

Nihiloxica · 15/05/2020 22:59

I'm also quite shitfaced. Thanks for the welcomes.

GoldenOmber · 15/05/2020 23:00

(oh, and their great-great-uncle had the virus. Confirmed with a test and everything. He is 86 and in fragile health. He was admitted to hospital and then... he got better and came home!)

Mascotte · 15/05/2020 23:01

@GoldenOmber that makes me so mad!! My child needs school!!

I can't bear the dementors. Checking in!

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 15/05/2020 23:05

When are they going to open kids parks up? It's so depressing walking past play parks all sealed off 😥

Everyone on fb seems to be demented today.

PickAChew · 15/05/2020 23:06

Crispy top and bottom @Daffodil101

Cooked in beef dipping, hot and fresh. Last had some the night it was announced that schools would close.

HauntedGoatFart · 15/05/2020 23:08

When are they going to open kids parks up?

Also wondering this. June? God, what I wouldn't give to push my toddler on the fucking swings. I'll do it until my arms fall off and won't moan at all... or at least not for the first 15 minutes

GoldenOmber · 15/05/2020 23:08

Surely play parks are fairly low risk given all the information we have about transmission says it's much more likely to happen inside and from droplets breathed/coughed by others, not picked up outside from surfaces. Let's hope that gets changed.

justasking111 · 15/05/2020 23:09

The children are suffering socially of that I am sure. Saw grand kids today, I know shoot me, but they were over the moon when they saw me, not their normal response, they are so lonely with just mum for company.

PickAChew · 15/05/2020 23:13

No idea if toilets are open in Durham but I went for a long walk with Ds2, this morning and my bladder started grumbling at the furthest point from home. Had a very grumpy 3km walk home with a dawdling young man.

FieldGenerator · 15/05/2020 23:15

I'm in Liverpool. FUCK'S SAKE. My school is an academy and hasn't said anything yet, so I'm holding out a slight bit of hope that they might ignore the LA, as we're not bound by what they say. But even if so, that doesn't help other families in the area.

(NC from psycho because I'm paranoid about people searching my posts and finding my location)

Arcadia · 15/05/2020 23:15

I'm really lucky as my DD now going into school as we are both key workers. She's only doing 2 days a week as I can work from home some of the time. She's not with her friends but I still think it's good for her.

Daffodil101 · 15/05/2020 23:17

Field.

Your mayor is an absolute arse. Pig ignorant.

Waspnest · 15/05/2020 23:19

I think I tread a fine line between trying to stay safe (washing hands, wearing a scarf when I'm shopping, not going out much etc) but not caring what other people do. But that 'contacting your Conservative MP' thread has driven me to the dark side (here).

Daffodil101 · 15/05/2020 23:20

Sounds amazing pickachew.

My husband (ITU medic) told me tonight that the surface spread is thought now to be more responsible for spread than respiratory droplets.

I was tempted to believe he’s a dementor. How the hell can this be right????

justasking111 · 15/05/2020 23:29

Daffodil, glad I am washing the shopping then.

To be honest who knows for sure yet it will all come out in the wash.

Liverpool have form for being led by the nose by the unions, who are having a ball just now. OP your only hope is that parents club together and demand that the council behave rationally or they will be in the toilet at the next election. Remember how they said BoJo could not win and dropped like flies at election time.

Weedsnseeds1 · 15/05/2020 23:31

I was chatting to the old couple three doors down today, standing in their gateway, while the stood at the door. I had by left elbow resting lightly on the end post of the fence. I woman shot out of the house next to them and screamed "you're touching the fence" and ran back into the house.
Very strange. My elbow was fully enclosed in a cardigan, I can't lick my elbow anyway and I had no idea that this woman even existed. I've said the odd hello to the man who lives there, but in 10 years I've never seen her!

justasking111 · 15/05/2020 23:39

Oh weeds that is so funny, I can just imagine it. My next door neighbour but one has been locked up for eight weeks now, she will not even open a window or go into her garden.

OnItCarBonnet · 15/05/2020 23:46

Just checking in, I went to my friend’s house last night to sit in the garden for a couple of hours and it felt great to be doing something relatively normal! I’m assuming that I’ll be responsible for any new deaths in this region now. Ah well

justasking111 · 15/05/2020 23:48

The dementors will have a fit when they see the article in DM as to how many flights are coming into Heathrow every day from plague ridden countries. OH did not believe me and said they were either mercy flights or carrying urgent medical supplies.
