Just the thought of a visit has really perked me up. We have been doing video call once or twice a week,and msg every day, but it just isn't the same. An adult conversation face to face for more than 10 mins! Heaven!

I am amazed at the number of people who seem to lack any kind of ability to risk assess for themselves. These are adults who drive, cross roads, live day to day and yet suddenly they don't know what 'stay alert' means, and can't seem to work out relative danger. I would like to see them use a bit of common sense, but I fear its getting rarer than rocking horse crap.

We had a “fuck off and don’t contact us” email from school by half 9 last night from a pissed off sounding head who I suspect is half dementor and half enjoying school with no kids to be honest. I’m livid at the tone of her communication.

This morning it’s going to hit dd2 that she’s the one year in her infants who can’t go back while the twats on here are raging that theirs can do.

I don’t have the emotional reserves to fight the dementors today sorry.

It's being reported today in the press that people can now do watersports outside and travel to beaches etc. Our nearest is about 2 hrs away think we'll go but just stay very rural

I don't think I've ever seen the term "beauty spots" used to frequently in my life. I always thought it referred to those black dots that people used to paint on their faces like Marie Antoinette. Now every man and his dog apparently wants to drive for 3 hours to get to a beauty spot, which is a problem for some reason.

They used to call them honeypot areas on a course I did on tourism and environment once. Beauty spots sounds quite frivolous, flaunting and flaunting come to mind...

I'm having to bite my tongue on social media about the schools announcement. I'm happy and grateful that my five year old may be about to get some routine back (and far from
being scared, he is going to think masks are awesome because he's obsessed with ninjas).

To a certain extent I can understand some concerns about teachers' health, but surely they're safer than anyone going to work in a factory? Part of me wonders if there would have been so much outcry from the unions had Jeremy Corbyn made the same decision...

It's lovely being off social media, jacked it in ages ago before all this. Highly recommend it.

I'm off for my poisoning chemo, so won't be online for a few days most likely (if last time was anything to go by!). I can imagine that the dementors are frothing and seething everywhere - use those patronuses (patroni?) and try not to let them get to you!

Hopefully we get some detail about the announcement today. Incl timetable for other school years going back and so on.

I thought I made some progress last night in a group chat by sharing lots of stats and saying that I'm not actually afraid for my own safety. Now this morning one of the group chat has shared an update that a friend of a friend's dad (who none of us know) has died of CV and we're back to full dementoring. I officially give up with my friends and family now. At this rate I'll be asking you guys to be in my bubble!

Going to stay away from the other threads. Just got my hopes up about going to the beach, a remote area and not seeing others, but there are possible comments on the Cornwall thread. (not going there anyway a grim place in some touristy areas)

My FYOS daughter went back to school in Queensland today. She came home intact. No bodybag needed. And her class had close to 100% attendance. Even the families that pulled their kids out before the schools officially closed sent their kids in.

I live near an A road - it sounds much busier this morning. Wishful thinking, maybe.

I am looking forward to everything being clarified later so I can work out how my next few weeks will pan out.

I might go to the bank this week to pay in a birthday present cheque for DS12. How many deaths would that make me personally responsible for, would you say?

Bloody school dementors!!! Can’t those who don’t want their kids to go back just, well, not send them? And leave them open for those who do want them to go back? Rather than campaigning for them not to open at all?
Seems people don’t want their kids to go, but don’t want other people’s kids getting something that they don’t.
Have they also missed that BJ said people had to go back to work? So the kids need to go somewhere!!!

Fb is absolutely full of dementors this morning, on one hand I'm quite pleased to see all the Boris bashing but the level of hysteria 🤯
