My DS is Year 2. I hope he gets to go back before the end of the year.

TheGreatWave · 10/05/2020 19:21

Though my sister says she can only fit about 7 in her classroom if they need to have social distancing.

Mascotte · 10/05/2020 19:23

I'm close to shaking and sobbing ffs this is never going to end

SomewhereEast · 10/05/2020 19:25

I'm soooo happy about the outdoor relaxation (we're lucky to live near miles of basically empty countryside & coastline). Also youngest is Reception so really happy about that.

LilacTree1 · 10/05/2020 19:25

Mascotte proper hugs from me.

savehalloween · 10/05/2020 19:26

I feel so down after that. I didn't expect lockdown to end but I can't believe they didn't cover things like nurseries open, mixing with our families! etc etc

Bollss · 10/05/2020 19:27

I know! I think we are going to get some more info tomorrow? I hope!

MaudesMum · 10/05/2020 19:27

Just heard Boris, and not really much the wiser. Then they interviewed Keir Starmer, and I now want a government of national unity, so a sensible grown-up can be involved...

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 10/05/2020 19:27

Yes I think ops will resume soon. I'm also waiting for one. No guarantees in terms of waiting lists and how soon you will be seen but I think so many wards are sitting empty and they will be trying to get things moving. It will be interesting to see.

Well I feel better for watching that although it was a bit woolly. It will be interesting to see what other details are released tomorrow. I'm planning on jumping in my car and driving an hour to the beach this week for a swim. That will do me good on its alone. I might have to drive to do some other longer walks too. It will be interesting to see how many people go back to work - many will have to I'm sure.

How do you all feel about Boris's speech?

LivinLaVidaLoki · 10/05/2020 19:28

@Mascotte hugs from me.
@savehalloween, hopefully that will be covered in the detail tomorrow.

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 10/05/2020 19:29

I know its not what we wanted but at least we have some kind of date for things going back? what do you guys think?

I know this sucks but hopefully only a month or so to go...

SummerHouse · 10/05/2020 19:30

@Mascotte we've got you misses. Things will change. Let me get you a cup of tea. It is shit but the birds are still in the sky (although we know their batteries are soon to run out).

Waxonwaxoff0 · 10/05/2020 19:30

@Mascotte hugs.

I'm happy with it although I wish DS was going back to school! I'd also like to know when I can see my family, nothing mentioned about that.

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 10/05/2020 19:30

(((((mascotte))))))) hugs

SomewhereEast · 10/05/2020 19:31

Mascotte I'm so sorry. For what its worth, I think the balance is beginning to shift and we're starting to hear more & more about the collateral damage. As with every debate in this country there'll be very vocal entrenched people on both sides, but I think the 'middle ground' is tilting.

Littlebelina · 10/05/2020 19:32

Was that starting with years r,1 and 6 (but phasing in others) or only those years until end of term? I wasn't sure (bbc implies former)

SomewhereEast · 10/05/2020 19:32

Just to add, I think I'm broadly pleased because I really didn't expect much at all. We all really need more detail though.

Tappering · 10/05/2020 19:33

I think it was a reasonably measured speech. I took some positive signs from it - the encouragement for people to go back to work. Plus the mentions of 1st June; it's a definite prompt to give businesses time to plan for getting staff back in, and social distancing sorted. Most people will have been in a supermarket and seen how they are managing things, so can use that as a blueprint.

SomewhereEast · 10/05/2020 19:33

I read the school information as starting with those classes, but also hoping to bring others back if possible

selfisolatingsince2007 · 10/05/2020 19:33

2 months longer! at least I'll be on maternity leave and can sit in the sun now without feeling like I'm slaughtering the elderly, NHS workers and everyone else.

savehalloween · 10/05/2020 19:34

Thank you. Hugs mascotte, it's just so tough when there's no end in sight to focus on.

Anxiety is through the roof.

If he was going to go into more detail tomorrow, I have no idea what the point of this over hyped broadcast was Sad

selfisolatingsince2007 · 10/05/2020 19:34

Admittedly I am disappointed that I can't kill anymore vulnerable people. Sad face.

LilacTree1 · 10/05/2020 19:34

SomewhereEast “ Just to add, I think I'm broadly pleased because I really didn't expect much at all”

He didn’t really say anything except higher fines for breaking the unspecified rules.

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 10/05/2020 19:35

I think its the best we could hope for. We knew it wasnt going to be total release but I DO think the tide IS turning so thats good.

Dementors wont be able to curtain twitch any more or scold people for sitting in parks - I take small comfort from that!

Littlebelina · 10/05/2020 19:36

Hopefully there'll be clarity on nurseries tomorrow, I can at least get some work done if I only have ds at home!
