Unless it's them or their families, at which point it's the fault of a 3yo who was in their vicinity (about 6 metres away!)

OutwardBound2016 · 05/05/2020 10:04

An out of control 3 year old, rampaging around spitting at people

Mascotte · 05/05/2020 10:24

Or a runner breathing from the other side of the street.

iamapixie · 05/05/2020 10:36

Oh yes we've killed 100s with our selfish running. I'm up there with Stalin.

iamapixie · 05/05/2020 10:44

Agree re BBC. Same with The Guardian. DC reading Animal Farm for school and I am becoming paranoid about doublethink and the ease with which people follow their own version of 'authority'. If the paranoia gets worse I may have to resort to tinfoil on my head. I've actually started to say words like 'who's winning in all this?' and 'there must be something else to it'!
Still, when I get done for murder on account of the running and curlywurly buying I'll be able to plead insanity so there's always a silver lining.

Orangeblossom78 · 05/05/2020 10:46

The i newspaper and the Tines have been much more positive. Realistic but not as bad.

Just read the stuff about psychosis and self isolation, and also this about mental heath. It is MH awareness week as well, (next week?) so might be more awareness then. www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-52295894

Orangeblossom78 · 05/05/2020 10:47

Reporting on how people feel worse going out walking etc after all their shaming stuff is a wee bit hypocritical.

Orangeblossom78 · 05/05/2020 11:16

Some news on the antibody tests today in the Times. Not the other ones but new ones. Hopefully will be out soon

The Swiss pharmaceutical company Roche won approval yesterday for use in the UK of a highly accurate lab-based antibody test. Mr Hancock said: “We’re in discussions with them about a very large scale rollout of antibody testing, as well as with some others who may be able to bring this forward, but there’s been false hope before on antibody testing. And so we’ll make announcements when we’re absolutely ready.”

Willitneverend · 05/05/2020 11:19

@orangeblossom78 I hope the antibody tests are out soon. The news that covid seems to have been in the West before first thought is giving me quite a lot of hope.

ChilliCheese123 · 05/05/2020 11:31

You know I walked for 9 miles yesterday. I didn’t see many people (walked through footpaths between villages) but those I did see, we stepped aside for each other to allow for distancing, smiled at each other, said good afternoon. Speaking to Strangers ! You know what it made me feel so good, the combination of exercise and just contact with other people, people you don’t know.

It just made me think it must be so hard to live in a world where you keep your head down and a stranger on a dog walk saying hello as they pass being such a source of stress to you. It’s like the pandemic has brought out this weird insular side of people, where they think everyone is a threat. I know everyone has been through different stuff in life, we’ve all been through bad stuff, but it’s like you have to open yourself up to the good in the world. I don’t understand how you can be happy to ‘dement’ all the time! Will they go back to some sense of happiness? Will they be dementors about covid forever ?!

BirdieFriendReturns · 05/05/2020 11:34

There’s another post on here where people are saying other posters are irresponsible and selfish for planning to go for coffee, get hair done etc once restrictions are lifted.

One person posted “how many people posting on here will be dead soon Sad.” WTAF?

It seems like a sizeable number of people will never be going out again.

Mascotte · 05/05/2020 11:39

I've been told off for "purposefully misinterpreting the law". I had quoted it to confirm there are no restrictions on time nor only one exercise a day 🤷‍♀️

*unless you're in Wales

OutwardBound2016 · 05/05/2020 11:50

If loads of people are staying at home at least it will be nice and quiet for the rest of us Smile

Delta1 · 05/05/2020 11:51

Fuck me that's brilliant. Do we have some kind of Dementor award process? That's got to be a strong contender!

Alsohuman · 05/05/2020 11:52

That’s a very good point. No dementors in the wild, now that’s a cheering thought.

Drivingdownthe101 · 05/05/2020 11:52

We can only hope!

BirdieFriendReturns · 05/05/2020 12:01

I won’t be surprised in a year or so, people start posting on AIBU.

“I’ve not left my house in over a year due to Covid19, AIBU?”
“I’ve not been to work in 12 months and now my work want to dismiss me, can I sue them?”

BogRollBOGOF · 05/05/2020 12:03

I liked the reply back that one day we'll all be dead anyway. I was beaten to it.

Obviously I hope I've got a good 5 or so decades in me first! Even so, I'm not immortal.

ThatLibraryMiss · 05/05/2020 12:07

“I’ve not been to work in 12 months and now my work want to dismiss me, can I sue them?”

"My LEA is threatening to sue me because I haven't sent my child to school or taken them off-roll to homeschool them. The Head isn't supporting me. Should I report her to the governors?"

Orangeblossom78 · 05/05/2020 12:10

Just before the 'lockdown' it was really quiet here. Just me in the swimming pool sometimes. Actually, in the last couple of weeks it was mainly just me and the hardcore of several older ladies who go to the aqua clad in the pool turning up, not the younger people.

Anyway it was really nice and quiet, do wonder if it might be like that again. Also might be less tourists about. The local council is moaning about how much money it will lose from tourism and the shop rents. But I haven't much patience for them as they have pushed lovely small shops out n recent years by putting their rents up so much.

Before this, there was lots of talk about pollution and charging vehicles coming onto town, in particular the tourist coaches so I guess they will miss than money too. I'm hoping maybe there might be more room for pedestrians and cyclists perhaps there is talk of this going forward as less people may want to use public transport.

Orangeblossom78 · 05/05/2020 12:12

More positive reporting- lots of people have stopped smoking, also lots of lives saved (possibly) due to less air pollution. It seems the virus can hide in pollution or something so maybe that will make them take it (air pollution) more seriously.

OutwardBound2016 · 05/05/2020 12:13

AIBU to ask that all children are kept back a year so my DC doesn’t miss out?

Orangeblossom78 · 05/05/2020 12:14

About work. Apparently they are being advised 2m thing might not apply at work. Can see the rage.

Work want me to go back but not doing 2m distancing etc...such a can of worms isn't it. Gov are saying 'you might want to consider' in its work guidelines so putting the responsibility onto the employers....

everythingisginandroses · 05/05/2020 12:27

I am going to be on the anti-social end of the scale for a bit post-lockdown, not because I think I'm going to DIE if I go out, but because it was a pain in the arse being unwell for 6 weeks and I want more certainty about immunity or the likelihood of catching it more mildly if there is a next time. How long that will keep me from the pub remains to be seen, though.

I wish a lack of Dementors in the wild would keep the pubs quiet, but I fear not. I suspect that Dementors tend to be the kind of people who think that you are An Alcoholic and A Bad Parent if you so much as set foot in a pub with your child, or maybe even without!

Orangeblossom78 · 05/05/2020 12:31

If you think about it this situation could be a great excuse to not see people you don't want to, couldn't it...I am quite enjoying the lack of interaction with certain in laws for example
