Favourite musical and song?

What is your favourite musical, stage or screen, and why? You can only pick one!
Name your best/favourite song from that musical - again only one!

Little Shop Of Horrors - Somewhere That's Green

Comefromaway · 30/04/2020 17:36

Come From Away - Something’s Missing

Devlesko · 30/04/2020 17:37

That's impossible.
You know you'll get lists, even though you said only one.

OK, hardly correct in this day and age but it has to be.

Carousel - "What's the use of wondrin"

PegHughes · 30/04/2020 17:39

I'm not a great fan of musicals but my favourite is Singin' in the Rain and my favourite song is the title song.

Not really very exciting or unusual. Sorry Blush

MakeUpGirl · 30/04/2020 17:40

Miss Saigon - why god why

There’s a couple that run it close though

happymummy12345 · 30/04/2020 17:41

My favourite is grease (both the film and the stage show), love them both.
Can't choose a favourite song, I love them all.

Secret Love CalamityJane

TheThingWithFeathers · 30/04/2020 17:44

If I have to pick just one, Don't Cry For Me Argentina from Evita.

MinesaPinot · 30/04/2020 17:46

I love a musical and have several that I could count as favourites but the one that immediately spring to mind was If I Loved You from Carousel.

DippyAvocado · 30/04/2020 17:48

Les Mis, hard to pick a favourite song but probably One Day More

Sogoodfeelssobad · 30/04/2020 17:51

I know Devlesco!
I'm a total hypocrite because I think the best I could do would be to narrow my favourites to 3!😁
The same with the songs, some I love because they're so moving, others because they make me want to dance or sing along, very loudly
(and badly)!

Phantom of the Opera - Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again

NotKeenOnSwede · 30/04/2020 18:08

I love Hand Jive in Grease but I don't like the film because the moral at the end is terrible

"turn into a slag and you'll get your man!"

Devlesko · 30/04/2020 18:12

I didn't think she turned into a slag, just became less of a Doris day type. Got more like her peers, fashionable, etc. She was never a Rizzo, nor likely to be. .

hellsbellsmelons · 30/04/2020 18:14

Chicago!
Or..... Les Mis??
Or..... Miss Siagon??
Ohhh I can't choose.
OK then. Chicago!

happymummy12345 · 30/04/2020 18:14

@NotKeenOnSwede one it's fictional, two they both changed at the end of the film and three dressing a certain way does NOT make you a slag. A woman can choose to dress any way she wants and not be called names for doing so.

Purplequalitystreet · 30/04/2020 18:18

Les Mis - One Day More. Love it.

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 30/04/2020 18:19

Favourite musical is easy - definitely Hamilton. Best song is harder, maybe The Room Where it Happens?

NotKeenOnSwede · 30/04/2020 18:20

Exactly... it's fictional. Chill out! 🙄

StoorieHoose · 30/04/2020 18:22

Hamilton - hard to pick one song but i think my total favourite is You'll be back.

I've not seen Be More Chill but I do so love Michael in the Bathroom

Toilenstripes · 30/04/2020 18:27

Sound of Music. Climb Every Mountain.

Raera · 30/04/2020 18:28

West Side Story - Tonight

EvilTwins · 30/04/2020 18:29

Merrily We Roll Along. Our Time.

dementedma · 30/04/2020 18:36

Oh too many to choose.
Stars from Les Mis

Or Sweet Transvestite from Rocky Horror Show

Or Suddenly Seymour from Little Shop.

I"ll stop as I'm cheating

AndAllOurYesterdays · 30/04/2020 18:42

Has to be Sondheim. Very hard to choose just one. Maybe I'm still here from Follies?
