What is your favourite musical, stage or screen, and why? You can only pick one!
Name your best/favourite song from that musical - again only one!

Tough choice. Probably One Day More from Les Mis or I Still Believe from Miss Saigon.

But then again, It's a Hard Knock Life from Annie does stick in my head on a constant loop.

JMG1234 · 30/04/2020 18:56

Oops sorry, just reread and I've failed to meet the brief of only one.

Newgirls · 30/04/2020 18:59

And I’m telling you - Dreamgirls

Now that is a choon

Newgirls · 30/04/2020 18:59

Oh what about Good morning Baltimore? Sorry too many

hippohector · 30/04/2020 19:00

My newest favourite is ‘You will be found’ from Dear Evan Hansen

FenellaMaxwell · 30/04/2020 19:00

Just want to applaud @EvilTwins!

NewYorkIvy · 30/04/2020 19:01

Newsies - Santa Fe. The movie version not the stage show

SorrelForbes · 30/04/2020 19:03

On The Town - Some Other Time

EvilTwins · 30/04/2020 19:04

@FenellaMaxwell Smile Thank you!

ChequerBoard · 30/04/2020 19:05

The Last Five Years, all of it, every word but especially 'If I Didn't Believe In You'

Ahh Jeremy Jordan, sigh...

Comefromaway · 30/04/2020 19:11

Ds & dh were due to go to the Southwark Playhouse Production just after the theatres closed. They were so disappointed.

But yes, Jeremy Jordan. We saw his Cadogan Hall concert and he was fantastic. (I still think Jamie is a though).

BumpkinSpiceBatty · 30/04/2020 19:15

Burn from Hamilton.

Lima45 · 30/04/2020 19:15

Rent and "You're what you own"

First one that came to mind as there are hundreds I could have chosen!

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 30/04/2020 19:21

I do love watching Musicals on the TV but unfortunately haven't been able to see many at the theatre.

I really love Don't Rain on My Parade from Funny Girl, it just makes me feel so happy and I can't help but sing along.

ACupOfCoffee · 30/04/2020 19:26

I'm a sucker for two (or more) different melodies(?) being sung simultaneously, and I love Confrontation in Les Mis. Obviously had to watch it several times to listen to whoever is singing the dominant part of the song, and then again (and again, and again...) to listen to the quieter part sung simultaneously.

By the same token, One Day More, but my favourite from Les Mis is Do You Hear the People Sing.

GlitchStitch · 30/04/2020 19:31

Somewhere- West Side Story
Easy Terms- Blood Brothers
She Used To Be Mine- Waitress
I'm Here- The Color Purple
Why God Why- Miss Saigon

GlitchStitch · 30/04/2020 19:31

Oh nearly forgot one of my very faves-

Gethsemane- Jesus Christ Superstar

JustAnotherMumTho · 30/04/2020 19:36

She used to be mine - Waitress.
There's so many different songs from so many musicals I could have picked, but when I heard this sang live in the theatre it made me sob.

Mauvg · 30/04/2020 19:40

Favourite musical is Mephisto-le-Spectacle
Favourite song from that musical is Un Nouveau Jour

ChequerBoard · 30/04/2020 19:46

@Comefromaway we also had tickets for the Last Five Years at Southwark Playhouse and missed it by 2 days.

We also saw JJ at Cadogan Hall (swoon).

ACupOfCoffee · 30/04/2020 19:47

I'm now thinking about Miss Saigon. I have just watched a video of Peter Polycarpou (original cast) singing Bui Doi, which sent shivers down my spine and had me welling up because of the real footage of the Vietnamese children.

Comefromaway · 30/04/2020 19:58

I was just 16 when I saw the original production of Miss Saigon at Drury Lane.

juststopnow · 30/04/2020 20:05

I love Jeremy Jordan so much!! There’s a video on YouTube of him singing She Used To Be Mine from Waitress and it’s AMAZING!

ACupOfCoffee · 30/04/2020 20:06

@Comefromaway, I was also a teenager when I saw the original production. My first West End show :-)

Chillipeanuts · 30/04/2020 20:10

Difficult but narrowed it to 3 (sorry, best I could manage:

Sweet Charity, Shirley McClain “If They Could See Me Now
Camelot, How to Handle a Woman, Richard Harris
Don Quixote, The Impossible Dream, Peter O’Toole
