My birthday is soon. I have no idea what I want, any suggestions?

I chose a limited edition print by my favourite artist.

DH had sneakily contacted her in advance and had a chat, she then delivered some prints to her local gallery and DH didn't tell me where we were going until we got there! I had a little cry, I was so touched and surprised.

Jewellery? Something a little bit more special but still for day to day use (so you get lots of wear out if it)
Sunglasses
Perfume
New bike - if that’s something you would use?
Kitchen aid or kenwood patissier mixer

MrsPerfect12 · 29/04/2020 12:22

@SingingSands aww that's so lovely.

@cujo I was thinking a ring. I think I'd rather wait until the shops are open.

I got an eternity ring from DH.

JunoJigglewick · 30/04/2020 16:52

My birthday is August. I think I'm going to get a bike. Never wanted one before but now DC2 can properly cycle, I feel a bit left out being the only one with no bike.

My mum laughed and instead offered me her old one - it's 23 years old and wasn't that good in the first place. But it's what she thinks I should have Hmm

I'd like a big party but not sure that will happen.

Maybe a fancy handbag?

Print or picture would also be lovely. There s a man who does I think paper cut pictures. Want to say Rhod Gilbert but not him Grin John Lewis stock his stationery and prints. They have lovely.messages.

OhioOhioOhio · 30/04/2020 16:55

Hot tub

hellsbellsmelons · 30/04/2020 18:25

World peace!? Smile
Perfume.
I had a long weekend holiday in Spain.
When is it?
Something nice from Tiffany that is part of a set you could build on?
Or a Pandora charm bracelet type thing and get all the additions.

bellalou1234 · 30/04/2020 18:26

I'm in same boat.. i havent got a clue what I want

Ninkanink · 30/04/2020 18:26

What’s the budget?

Sausagis · 30/04/2020 18:32

It's my 40th in August. I want to go on the holiday I have booked Angry but I wouldn't suggest booking anything now! I have an electric bike I love. Otherwise a fancy chair for sitting in the garden? Like one of the hanging pod types.

opinionatedfreak · 30/04/2020 18:35

I got Lego Hogwarts... I was delighted.

Might be a bit niche though.

NamedyChangedy · 30/04/2020 18:37

Mine's coming up too. I don't need or want anything and don't really celebrate my birthday anyway, so nothing. I was going to enter a race (and hopefully win!) as a present to myself but it's been cancelled due to the pandemic, so maybe a nice dinner if it's possible by then.

Holothane · 30/04/2020 18:38

I had no money for my 40th for my 50th I saved five years for a 65 inch tv for the bedroom I love it and have never regretted it. My 60th will be a down quilt from Iceland, no birds are harmed they are protected the down collected after the birds leave.

Terralee · 30/04/2020 18:49

I was given a watch that I wear every day, 2 lovely bracelets, earrings, etc also I went on holiday to Mykonos which is probably not going to be an option for anyone here this summer sadly.

Ninkanink · 30/04/2020 19:00

My list is so long it’s definitely more a case of whittling it down to what I really want...I’m a proper magpie.

For my 44th (coming up in May) I’ve bought a ring from Monica Vinader and an Anya Hindmarch bag. I’ve also got my eye on a Marc Jacobs perfume and a Dior lipstick.

For my 45th my DH is going to get me a Louis Vuitton bag (unless I change my mind by that time).

thequeenbeyondthewall · 30/04/2020 19:06

I picked a mulberry for mine

KingOfDogShite · 30/04/2020 19:08

Mines soon too. I’ve asked for money so that I can buy some nice big planters and and a couple of nice acers to go on my new decking.

I can’t wait to go to the garden centre and spend it.

I celebrated 40 when I was 39 (DH was terminally ill and wanted to do something while he was still well enough). We had afternoon tea at the Shard and spent the day like (slow and ambling) tourists. It was ace. For my actual 40th my parents and grandmother gave me money for a Go Pro, and DS had a ring made for me with DH's ashes.

bookmum08 · 30/04/2020 19:27

Obviously it's depends on your interests. My 45th is soon. I have already had my Lego set. I am thinking of 'treating' myself to a trip to a nearby larger supermarket than my local (rubbish) one and stocking up on some magazines, books, maybe more Lego, crafty things.
Pretty similar to what I do every year really - only normally have bigger choice of shops.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 30/04/2020 19:46

I tell DH to go to Hermès and point at things.

toomuchfaster · 30/04/2020 19:54

My 40th is in October, I was hoping for a nice holiday or an eternity ring but neither is likely now and I can't be arsed to worry about it atm.

Redcherries · 30/04/2020 20:14

Mines June, meant to be on an amazing holiday. I’m shielded so not even a nice walk or maybe picnic now.

I have no idea, all I can think of is garden stuff to try and make it special out there.

MrsPerfect12 · 30/04/2020 21:22

I'm already having a party and doing a city break. My birthday is May.
@JunoJigglewick I got a fancy bag for Christmas, I'm a bag addict 😃.
@hellsbellsmelons Tiffany is a good shout. I could get the necklace to match my earrings, I have a suspicion my friends are buying me that.
@Ninkanink enough to get a significant gift max 4K
@AndNoneForGretchenWieners That sounds a lovely hope you're doing okay. What a lovely gift from your DS 💙
@allfurcoatnoknickers oooh a Hermes now that would be something but out my price range they start around 20k

I have been thinking nice watch or a diamond dress ring. I'll just have to pick it when the shops are open. DH is good a picking me up little surprises for the day.
