My birthday is soon. I have no idea what I want, any suggestions?

I'm 40 in November. I would like a healthy baby girl with my fiancé (due May), to be with my boys more (evil ex is applying for custody over 50/50) and to see my mum again because she's been very unwell recently.

Material things are unimportant, especially now.

My MIL, who had been living with us, had a massive heart attack and died on my 40th. I don’t think I’ll ever really ‘celebrate’ it again as it’s now a bad day for DH.

It’s mine tomorrow 😬
Next year going to have the biggest ever 41st birthday party 🥳 That’s all I really want, a chance to get everyone e together & lots of fab pictures 👍🏻

@Shanster Thats so sad, I really feel for your DH and you but its awful you'll never really get a special day again. Could you 'move' your birthday to a different time so that you can still be spoilt? I imagine its associative too not just the date though?

I can't decide whether to have a second birthday when I finally get released from shielding or just to have a big 41st. I can't do the 6 month thing as it would fall on another significant date.

I considered some Ruth Tomlinson earrings. They are quite unique but discounted them as I tend to wear more silver than gold.

@loubieloo4 so sorry to read how ill your husband is. Just a thought, but years ago we got my husband one of those prints that read, my dad likes..and then a list of true and silly things he likes. You can get them on not on the highstreet. Just thinking it would be lovely for the day, but then you can all have pleasure looking at it for years to come if it’s hung on the wall.

I got a painting and a party.

I’m not quite 40 yet but last year I got a fairfax and favor handbag and pair of boots, they are beautiful and definitely a treat. It’s my birthday next month and I’m going to ask for a voucher for my favourite luxury spa hotel in the Cotswolds for a night away with DH when it is safe to go.

It's my 40th in June. We had three nights away booked at my favourite place, but that will be later in the year now, and I think DH is getting me a ring. The ring is something that will need to be made so I will be waiting for that too. I'm not overly bothered about birthdays but these were things I was looking forward to!

loubielou4 not his 40th, but his 60th - I took DH to Devon for a few days. He had not long had his lung removed and couldn't fly at that point. For his 61st, which was his last birthday, he was relatively stable (although we didn't know at this point it had spread to his brain) so we went to Germany for the weekend without any travel insurance (oncologist said it may be his last trip so just go for it as it was still in Europe). I also did a photo album of memories including his family and our history, and he took great comfort from this when he went into hospital a couple of weeks after we returned from Germany. By then he had started to get very confused and the photos helped him to remember and keep calm.
