The waitress? It's one of my favourites, I adore it but it's pretty obscure and underrated.

MillieMollieMandi · 25/04/2020 20:37

Also just watched Midnight in Paris & quite liked it
The talented Me Ripley is one of my absolute favourites too

NeverTalksToStrangers · 25/04/2020 20:39

Tea with Mussolini.
Mystic Pizza.
City Slickers.
Only you.
Strictly Ballroom.

Alamindah · 25/04/2020 21:37

Misbehaviour - releases at the cinemas just before lockdown. A brilliant film covering feminism and racism, in a humorous way- now on Amazon prime etc

Gulsink · 25/04/2020 21:39

The Light Between Oceans.

Coffeecak3 · 25/04/2020 21:40

Tea with Mussolini
Second hand Lions
Sleepless in Seattle
Midnight in Paris
The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie
Brief Encounter

GallopingGreen · 25/04/2020 22:01

I love Moonstruck with Cher. Think it's on Netflix- as is the ever watchable Pride and Prejudice with Colin firth. Very good taste in films OP.

If the previous mentioned I'd agree with The Green Book, Sense and Sensibility, Passage to India, Out of Africa

MissClementine · 25/04/2020 22:05

A Good Year
The Hours

OvaHere · 25/04/2020 22:08

Gatsby

The recent remake of Murder on the Orient Express was also good.

neomneomneom · 25/04/2020 22:22

Are you up for foreign films? - if so the French classics Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources are lovely ones.

VenusClapTrap · 25/04/2020 23:07

The Grand Budapest Hotel
The Horseman on the Roof
Gosford Park

Knobblybobbly · 25/04/2020 23:11

Corina Corina (Ray Liotta and Whoopi Goldberg)

Knobblybobbly · 25/04/2020 23:12

The Help is also amazing

lizzie1970a · 26/04/2020 02:04

Someone mentioned Green Card - I loved that film. Set in New York so might fit the OP's bill. I really wanted that apartment with the greenhouse!

BalloonSlayer · 26/04/2020 09:08

If you liked When Harry met Sally you've probably seen it but I love City Slickers, also Billy Crystal and similar humour.

How about Ghost?

I watched it the other day for the first time since the cinema thirty years ago (when I had thought meh) and I loved it. Possibly because Patrick Swayze is now younger than me in it instead of older than me Grin

MrsSchadenfreude · 26/04/2020 09:13

I have found my people!

I watched Pauline at the Beach last week - can’t remember if Netflix or Amazon Prime. Very French and very 80s.
