Anyone actually had their Homebase delivery?

AmIAStone · 17/04/2020 10:21

Ordered 19 days ago, saying 5 days. Understand it’s going to take a long time so only just started to look to chase it. The email address on the website bounces back as undeliverable. Anyone else know what their lead time is/did you get your order?

@Dogwithanovenmit it's garden paint that I've been looking for for ages. I got all excited when I finally found a website with it in stock to order it.

AmIAStone · 18/04/2020 19:27

@nopenothappening everyone knows it’s a shit situation. The issue is that other website acknowledge this, only take a certain number of orders a day or only sell stock they have. If Homebase sold something and said it would be 4weeks delivery, people would accept that and still be happy that they had stock. It’s the saying it’s in stock and arriving in 5 days and then isn’t that is the issue. I went to order something from next, the first few days I was too late and they were full, then it said 5weeks and I was ok with that.

Notopennothappening it is a shit situation at the moment but my Homebase order was a whole mess of non communication, lack of information and well over a month till I got my items and that was in October. OPs experience now sounds the same as mine back then.

little0miss0mac · 18/04/2020 20:32

One of my worst buying experiences ever was with Homebase. If they can't manage stock and deliveries during bog standard boringly normal times, I would not expect them to manage now. I think their back office systems are probably appalling.

JoeySpecial · 18/04/2020 20:36

I ordered paint at the end of March with a 10 day delivery.

I ordered more paint a couple of days later.

Cancelled order about a week ago after having an email to day it wouldn't be here until at least the ned of may, via Instagram and was told that it HAD been cancelled.

1st tin of paint randomly turned up yesterday!
Have not been refunded so who knows if the other tins will turn up!

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 19/04/2020 06:52

Why would anyone be surprised things are taking longer or be emailing for updates? Surely you just use a bit of common sense and be patient rather than adding to the problem by pestering unnecessarily?

The issues with delivery at Homebase have NOTHING to do with covid (although you would expect some delay under the circs)

They were like this well before corona lockdown. They are having serious problems. It is not a supply problem necessarily either.

I had ordered some flooring months before Lockdown. Said up to 10 days for delivery. 17 days later no delivery, no email, no phone call. But the delivery comes from the nearest store and I knew they had tons in stock at that store, because I purposefully visited in person to check that store had plenty, which they did. I then ordered online feeling confident they would deliver as I don't drive.

I phoned and phoned the main number and no one picked up. I sent a customer enquiry form and no one responded. That's when the penny dropped and I started to panic as I had spent hundreds.

Finally after searching loads, I found a different number from the main one (strangely it also catered for Argos this number) and got through and someone rang me back and I then had to wait a further 4 days for my delivery.

I am praying I ordered the right amount of flooring as I am unsure I'd be able to get anymore. I haven't laid it yet.

vanillandhoney · 19/04/2020 07:23

Well, I received a refund on my order on Thursday despite having the paint delivered to my house on Monday!

Who knows what's going on with them - their back office communications must be absolutely horrendous.

I've heard rumours that they're close to going bust which wouldn't surprise me. I have also complained to Watchdog as I think selling stuff they don't actually have available is pretty dodgy.

It's not like they're telling people it'll be a month. They're saying 3-5 days and then at the end of the 5 days, people are being told "oh sorry, we don't even have that to sell you" even though they're happy to take your money the second you place the order.

Gohackyourself · 19/04/2020 08:59

Still waiting here after 2 weeks.
Paid £6.95 for for delivery in 7 days.
As op’s have said, they’re not responding to email/tweets.No phone number you can contact .Generic apology emails.
Shocking behaviour and should be investigated

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/04/2020 09:54

Yes. £6.95 delivery seemed very steep at the time, and even more so now. I don't expect 'normal' but some honesty and communication would be good.

Redyoyo · 19/04/2020 10:10

I ordered garden furniture on the 3rd April and chose the 15th for delivery it came on the 10th we seem to have been very lucky.

Dollywilde · 19/04/2020 10:20

Another idiot who ordered kitchen paint from them - we’d had our kitchen replastered pre lockdown and were waiting for it to dry out when lockdown happened. Stupidly thought ‘oh well, it’s only painting the kitchen white, let’s save some pennies and do it ourselves while we’re stuck indoors’! Plus my kitchen has been making me want to cry given it looks like a concrete hole....Sad

Ordered white kitchen paint on 31/03. 10 day expected delivery. No word until an email on 13/04 - apparently due to deliver 28/04!

I’m hanging on as it’s not essential essential and I’m worried about getting my refund without stacks of chasing. But we shall see if it ever turns up...

RoscoePColtrane · 19/04/2020 10:25

I ordered several things a few weeks ago and have heard nothing at all. I also ordered 2 items I had forgotten last week and had an email yesterday to say I could collect them from the store next week.

youvegottobekidding · 19/04/2020 12:12

I finally received an email from them on Friday saying our order had been cancelled and a refund should be in our account within 3-5 days. Then a generic ‘orders are delayed’ email the same day.

Will wait to see if we get our refund.

MrsEvil · 20/04/2020 14:31

Still nothing today. No email nothing. Bad enough that it's was £12.50 postage. Have emailed them many times to get a update. Tempted to try and get money back but can't get hold of anyone. I wonder If I go through my credit card company I may get a refund! It's very frustrating

JorisBonson · 20/04/2020 14:49

Has anyone had any luck speaking to their bank to get their money back? I was promised a refund 12 days ago and nothing. They're ignoring everyone now.

youvegottobekidding · 20/04/2020 15:11

We got onto our bank first, if you’ve paid by credit card you’re more likely to get your money back. We had to fill out a form online. Just as we had submitted that, that’s when we got an email from Homebase to say they would cancel our order & process a refund.

DH has now orders some paint from Wickes & gone to collect. But I can’t get my Crown paint that I need from anywhere, only Homebase & Crown itself stock it, who aren’t taking any online orders. I came across another website call Untouchables, a wallpaper & paint suppler, they stock it too, never heard of them before so a bit reluctant to buy from there.

Frlrlrubert · 20/04/2020 17:38

Mine arrived today, keeping my fingers crossed for the rest of you (Argos mower still showing 'processing order' mind you).

CatkinToadflax · 20/04/2020 18:40

It’s been 18 years since DH and I ordered our Homebase bathroom suite. Apparently it “got lost during delivery”.

Gohackyourself · 20/04/2020 18:44

Had an email today with my order number on - so not generic- telling my order is up to 10 days late( no shit Sherlock) advises I can email an address for refund or keep waiting !!!
It would just be nice to actually know the delivery date!!

JoeySpecial · 20/04/2020 19:51

I have finally recieved and email today to say my refund is being processed.

When though I was told via instagram that it had already been cancelled....

piefacedClique · 26/04/2020 23:10

I’ve gone through my bank to get a charge back (or whatever it’s called) still no fence paint bought on the 4th I’d April and it’s due to rain from tuesday 😩😩😩😩

catgotyourtongue · 26/04/2020 23:49

Ordered paint 28th March.. still not here!

I got an email the other day saying I could pick up from store on 27th if I replied by the end of the day THAT DAY but didn't check my email until 10pm and that was too late apparently.

So I'm not sure if I should just wait it out - it's only bedroom paint and £24 so not essential but it was only supposed to be 10 days!

AmIAStone · 27/04/2020 12:53

My order from March actually arrived.

Other smaller companies are open with the longer times and only selling stock they have. If thy don’t have the stock it’s removed from their website until they have it. Homebase are selling stock they don’t have in the hope they get more. That’s why it’s crazy.

Got my money back through the bank first thing tis morning

JorisBonson · 29/04/2020 11:34

I've got a refund from Homebase but for £30 less than the amount I paid 🙄 I have a dispute in with my bank anyway.
