Anyone actually had their Homebase delivery?

Ordered 19 days ago, saying 5 days. Understand it’s going to take a long time so only just started to look to chase it. The email address on the website bounces back as undeliverable. Anyone else know what their lead time is/did you get your order?

Yes - if I'd have known that ten days would be an optimistic guess, I wouldn't have ordered. Annoying.

AmIAStone · 17/04/2020 16:02

Thanks for the email, it’s the same one I’ve been getting a bounce back from for 3 days but it’s gone through today. I guess there server was full of people asking where their stock was.

Next and Cadbury’s etc close the website when they’ve taken a certain number of orders and it says openly “5 weeks” etc. Homes are are still selling the things that haven’t turned up for me.

Yeah, next have got it right, they totally shut down when they knew they couldn’t provide a service, then re-opened their online sales - but at a restricted level, so only allowing a few sales to go through. Homebase have just been crap, taking in multiple orders and bollocks as to whether they can deliver them or not, as long as they get your money! Everything we ordered was in stock & we chose the next day delivery cost, I think £6, we knew there would be a delay, but not this long! Anyway, we should be able to get our money back.

CommunistLegoBloc · 17/04/2020 16:22

I placed an order on the 5th and was given a date for a week later. I got an email saying my ordered had been processed and was on its way. Two days before delivery, I got another email saying it was out of stock, they were getting more in that week, they'd be in touch. Just had another holding email. I really resent paying £12.50 on an order totalling nearly £500 and then having absolutely no clue when it'll actually arrive. I expect they'll turn around and say it can't be fulfilled, which will be extremely annoying as I'll be back to square one.

MrsEvil · 17/04/2020 16:28

No ordered on the 3rd April £400 worth of garden furniture. Nothing ment to be delivered on the 5th they have taken my money and I have no goods. So not sure what's happening

spongedog · 17/04/2020 17:40

Update: I had 3 text messages this afternoon to say delivery in 72 hours. I had ordered 2 large items (1 has come already) and several smaller ones, so I have no idea what is actually coming. But progress.

AmIAStone · 17/04/2020 18:54

My orders weren’t as big as some of yours, I hope they fulfill everyone’s. Or just having people email that it’s delayed will mean less work for the poor customer service people as people would accept there has been some contact and not have to repeatedly email in.

Another small company I ordered a big item from sent an email out to everyone saying, guys we have the stock, we are delivering ourselves and can’t stay in hotels so are putting camp beds in the lorry. You can have a refund but we will deliver to everyone we promise. That one email meant I’ve left them go a month since my order and not got in touch as they are sending out generic mass updates

Okay, Homebase are stalking me! I’ve just had a text saying my order will be sent out within 72 hours from tomorrow.
Thank you Homebase!

Mine arrived after four weeks.

OhhhPeee · 17/04/2020 20:29

I’d actually forgotten I’d ordered from Homebase! It was three weeks ago, no communication at all since.

nopenothappening · 17/04/2020 20:30

Mind-bogglingly massive surge in demand, increased staff sickness, pressure on supply chains, pressure on delivery services, servers being swamped, totally unprecedented situation... Why would anyone be surprised things are taking longer or be emailing for updates? Surely you just use a bit of common sense and be patient rather than adding to the problem by pestering unnecessarily?

JorisBonson · 17/04/2020 20:33

Nope.

Placed an order on the 20th March and finally got hold of someone via Twitter on Monday who had apparently cancelled my order but I've not seen the refund yet.

B&Q click and collect came to the rescue, got everything we needed less than 24 hours after ordering.

allformykids · 17/04/2020 20:33

Ordered garden furniture about 4 weeks ago with a 5 day delivery window. Tried to contact them through various different channels.

Have a look at their trust pilot reviews, I am now not hopeful 😞

Wish I had looked first I would have ordered from Argos.

Completely ok with delays under the current circumstances it's the complete lack of communication. Good luck

WobblyAllOver · 17/04/2020 20:35

Why would anyone be surprised things are taking longer or be emailing for updates?

I didn't email for updates as I totally understood that deliveries would be delayed. But their email said the delivery company would be in touch when a delivery date was confirmed and that simply didn't happen and no updates were given.

All other companies that I had purchased goods from managed to communicate delays and expected dates just fine.

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 17/04/2020 20:37

Yes, took about two weeks but was only a day later than the expected delivery date they have me.

Very catalogue however have used royal mail and tracking says no information atm and no way to contact them as they've closed the phonelines and no email address 😭

vanillandhoney · 17/04/2020 20:41

Because they're selling things on their website that they don't actually have. I ordered Dulux paint and was told 3-5 days but could be a little longer. Fine. Two weeks later I was told they didn't actually have the paint I'd ordered but that it would come straight from Dulux. It took another two weeks for it arrive with me.

They still have that paint on their website. It's showing as "available" with a delivery time of 3-5 days. If they can't fulfil the times on their website, they should close it down, deal with the orders they have and then re-open with more realistic time scales and services.

dayswithaY · 17/04/2020 20:43

I ordered three bags of compost last Friday and they arrived on Wednesday. I was really pleased (I don't work for them!)

vanillandhoney · 17/04/2020 20:43

And yes, everyone else I've ordered from has had stock arrive within the timescale specified, with updates if not. Hombase's customer service has been poor at best.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 17/04/2020 21:08

Why would anyone be surprised things are taking longer or be emailing for updates?

Because when I get part of a delivery with no information about the rest of it I want to know where it is! Hardly unreasonable.

In my case they’re claiming to have delivered the full order when they haven’t so they either need to let you track your order or expect people to contact them. Other companies manage it so I don’t know why Homebase are so incompetent

Destroyer · 17/04/2020 21:18

Nope

Because they’ve already taken my money. Most companies take the money when the goods dispatch. That gives a level of trust. Taking my money and then not communicating with me doesn’t.

Frlrlrubert · 18/04/2020 10:52

Have now had a text from the delivery company saying they have received my goods and will contact when dispatched.

Typically it's garden furniture I ordered, so after the glorious weather waiting for it it's probably going to rain for the rest of lockdown! Sorry everyone.

Dogwithanovenmit · 18/04/2020 12:05

Long before lockdown I ordered some picture rails. They did turn up. Eventually. But I don’t think I’ve ever waited so long for an order for anything from anywhere. There were no updates, no communication. I ended up going into the store 3 times to try establish where it was, when I might get it. The whole process was shambolic. I would never order from them again. I don’t know what is best to do if you can’t get hold of anyone and your emails are bouncing back 😡.

oatlyexhausted · 18/04/2020 13:50

Ohhh no, feeling nervous after reading this. I placed an order yesterday with Homebase; website said to expect delivery within 21 days.

I don't mind waiting as long as it does actually turn up before summer is over.

Dogwithanovenmit · 18/04/2020 14:30

Oatly can you only get the thing you ordered from Homebase? If it’s available elsewhere I’d cancel. They were a nightmare when I ordered stuff and that was in October. You will probably eventually get your order but if they were so grim before all this I can’t imagine how long you might be waiting .

Destroyer · 18/04/2020 16:50

I’ve sent an email to cancel (yesterday)... I’ve heard nothing back so far. Not expecting to at the weekend, but I’m sure it said that the refund should be back within 5 days...
