Better coffee... cafetière or pod?

Definitely not doing beans. This is the choice cafetière or pod.

In your opinion.... which makes best coffee?

TIA!

Definitely not doing beans.

Grin Now, that's the definition of arse about face. It doesn't matter what delivery method you use - without freshly ground beans your coffee will always be second-rate.

What's your objection?

midwesteaster · 16/04/2020 19:39

Freshly ground beans do make the best coffee. It is a work of seconds to grind them and put them in a cafetière.
Pods are good for flavored coffees but most produce huge amounts of plastic waste if used regularly ( I have one but don't use it much for this reason)

Well forget about the coffee for a mo, Cafeatiere is def better for the environment.

Why not aeropress?

Redwinestillfine · 16/04/2020 19:43

Filter coffee is better imo (machine not cafitiere) but pods are good too and you can get reusable/ compostable.

MrsWombat · 16/04/2020 19:44

What about pour over?

bravotango · 16/04/2020 19:45

100% stovetop pot. Better than pods for the environment

saraclara · 16/04/2020 19:49

Aeropress. Without a doubt.

Pods are restrictive - you can't vary the amount of coffee to make it the strength you want. And cafetieres are annoying to clean.

I love my Aeropress.

Andcake · 16/04/2020 19:52

Stovetop pot here - so much better than a cafeterias- and read up on compostable pods not great can’t be put on a compost heap!

daisypond · 16/04/2020 19:55

Stovetop.

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/04/2020 19:57

I agree with @PerditaProvokesEnmity.

Ready ground coffee is disappointment in a cup.

TroysMammy · 16/04/2020 19:59

I bought my DP an aeropress for Christmas. He loves it and it's so easy to clean.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 16/04/2020 20:02

Cafetiere.

ScrapThatThen · 16/04/2020 20:04

You can get stainless steel reusable pods. They are continually advertised to me on Facebook.

ExpletiveDelighted · 16/04/2020 20:08

Aeropress by a mile.

Astoatora54 · 16/04/2020 20:09

And cafetieres are annoying to clean.
Literally takes 2 seconds!

Anything except pods.

Sewingbea · 16/04/2020 20:09

Cafetiere. Better for the environment.

JeremyIronsBenFolds · 16/04/2020 20:11

Hario v60 all the way. If you’re not going to grind your own beans... and also if you do!

Rosegoldglass · 16/04/2020 20:14

Aeropress all the way, so easy to use and clean.

Cnoc · 16/04/2020 20:14

Grind your own beans and a cafetière. Come on, coffee grinders aren’t expensive, it takes twenty seconds extra, and the improvement in taste is huge.

Kittykatmacbill · 16/04/2020 20:18

Anything but pods so wasteful. Love cafetier personally but filter is nice if you put a sensible amount of coffee in.

chipshopElvis · 16/04/2020 20:18

Stovetop pot. Cafetiere always too cold. Pods are very polluting and coffee not as good. We sometimes use ground sometimes beans.

HelloMama · 16/04/2020 20:20

Aeropress, 100% !

CoffeeRevelLove · 16/04/2020 20:20

Cafetière definitely

CoffeeIsMyOnlyJoy · 16/04/2020 20:36

Is an aeropress less mess thsn a cafetiere?
