By myself in A&E - is anyone awake for a hand hold

Gently though, cos I think I’ve broken my wrist. Fainted and landed on it 🤦🏻‍♀️

They won’t let DP stay with me because of coronavirus. So sent him home to get some rest. I still feel quite dizzy and a lot of pain so sitting on the floor waiting for X-ray.

Trying to be brave but it’s weird here. Everyone with masks on.

Oh dear. Hand hold Flowers. Is it really that busy? Do you think most people are presenting with Covid symptoms or for other reasons, like you?

Ilovesausages · 13/04/2020 01:41

Hand holding OP. Must be scary but am sure they will quickly get you sorted and on your way home xxx

Ilovesausages · 13/04/2020 01:42

Do you know why you fainted?

Hello, gentle hand hold here! Hope that you don't have to wait too long.

I was just about to go to sleep when I saw this.

I’m just off to bed way too late, but I hope some of our posters in other time zones will pick up the slack.

It must be strange being there alone, but I hope you’ll be seen and treated quickly so you can be reunited with your DP soon. By all accounts A&E depts are very quiet at the mo, so with any luck you’ll be home soon. 💐 in the meantime.

LonginesPrime · 13/04/2020 01:44

Sorry to hear that, OP. Thanks

I was in A&E exactly this time last week with non-CV issue - it was a very surreal experience. Far more cleaners than patients!

On the plus side, a broken wrist is a pretty easy fix so in some ways, it could be much worse! Is it your dominant hand?

The other plus is that they'll hopefully get you through quite quickly - I was there for three hours total, which is probably my quickest A&E visit ever!

managedmis · 13/04/2020 01:45

Oh no, that's not fun! Are you diabetic or anything? Why did you faint?

OpthalmosVerde · 13/04/2020 01:48

I think they’ve split A&E into 2, I’m actually sat in the children’s section which seems to be non CoV people. About 2 dozen ppl I think, it’s a busy North London hospital so this is quiet

Had ECG and bloods taken, BP is a little low. I donated blood today so probably that/not enough fluids/getting up from laying down etc.

Poor you, it must be horrible. It will feel a bit better as soon as they put the first, temporary, cast on, if it is definitely broken. Don't for get to tell them you fainted and still feel dizzy. Maybe Dr Ross or other attractive healthcare individual will come along.....

Mascotte · 13/04/2020 01:49

Have a gentle hand hold ... sounds like it’s quite scary there: the supermarket is weird enough just now! Any idea how long you’ll have to wait?

Mascotte · 13/04/2020 01:51

@Randomword6 that’s funny: I once took a friend to a&e for a faint a long time ago. I was so worried, then found her dollying lipstick and telling me how gorgeous the doctor was...,😂

Mascotte · 13/04/2020 01:51

Applying

Rainbowqueeen · 13/04/2020 01:52

Handholding here too.
Hope you are seen soon and it’s just a simple break. If you’ve given blood today (thanks by the way) it makes sense that you would be feeling more faint than otherwise.

Deep breaths and try to relax. Easier said than done I know!!

Flibbertyjibbit · 13/04/2020 01:55

Gentle hand hold. Hope you don't have long to wait. Flowers

OpthalmosVerde · 13/04/2020 01:55

Couple of hours for the blood results first they said

Am sat on floor cos I don’t feel that secure on the chair and don’t want to faint again! They’ve put me in front of nurses station so hopefully someone will notice if I do slide into a heap!

Non dominant hand hence predictive text with one hand is ok. I feel guilty as I was saying today I felt jealous of colleagues furloughed at home having all that time whilst I’m working extra shifts. Careful what you wish for boys and girls!

Presumably you are all there solo. Is there someone else who looks like they would rather have company like you? If so, perhaps you can sit near them and strike up some conversation.

OpthalmosVerde · 13/04/2020 01:56

Thanks for chatting with me vipers btw

Dollying lipstick makes sense Grin

OP posts:
Mascotte · 13/04/2020 01:57

😃 and I have no excuse as I haven’t broken my wrist

buckeejit · 13/04/2020 02:02

Uch that's rubbish Op, hope they get you sorted & home soon. Feel free to ignore it but here's an annoying riddle/question thing to help pass the time. Get well soon

Hope you are okay Op and get seen to quickly Flowers

nzborn · 13/04/2020 02:09

Holding the unbroken hand

OpthalmosVerde · 13/04/2020 02:12

Got told off by scary nurse for sitting on the floor. And no I can’t have an ice pack (mine from home has melted). Feel like a naughty child!

OP posts:
StudentHelp · 13/04/2020 02:17

Oh bless you, OP

OpthalmosVerde · 13/04/2020 02:18

Not complaining about scary nurse btw. She’s kinda reassuring, clearly runs a tight ship.
