Dreadful speech. Awful woman.

Boogiewoogietoo · 06/04/2020 08:48

Excellent speech: sober, reflective but filled with hope.

Just like her Christmas speeches really. All pomp and no substance. She should have said if you don’t stay home I’m setting the swans on you.

Quick, wheel out the magic rich lady to placate the masses.

I was ambivalent towards her until I watched the crown recently. She is a legend.

I also thought the 'we'll meet again' means in this world or the next for her, especially after the mention of 1940, given that her parents and sister have all been dead a long time. A very good speech, glad I listened. DSs both listened too, DS19 said it was a good speech, DS17 said how lucky we are in our head of state compared to the Americans.

I loved it and it gave me comfort and the assurance that all will be well in the end - this too shall pass. And I'm not British! But I thought her message was a global one and I appreciated it.

Exactly @shufflestep the ‘sunny day’ in heaven for the ultimate reconciliation and reunion.

It made me almost think that there is more to it, they know more & she’s resigned...but likely just the sombre tone and seriousness of all this.
