Spot on!

OP posts:
Iwannatellyouastory · 05/04/2020 20:16

I thought the best part was her referencing what happened in 1940, reminding everyone that we have got through difficult times in the past and come out the other side.
She is the only person in the public eye of that vintage who can reflect on the last 80 years.

Strawberrycreamsundae · 05/04/2020 20:18

Bless her!

Longdistance · 05/04/2020 20:19

Loved it. Very emotional and heartfelt. She had tears in her eyes and a lump in her throat.

TSSDNCOP · 05/04/2020 20:19

It was really rather well done wasn't it? I likes the infills of community and NHS projects. The we will meet again line was really very well considered. Quiet, resolute and unsilly.

Loved the brooch too.

Got rather choked actually.

Paintforkitchen · 05/04/2020 20:19

I love her. Great speech. We can do this!!

RomeoLikedCapuletGirls · 05/04/2020 20:20

I am pretty anti-monarchy but when she did the “We will meet again” I was proper teary!

lanternlady · 05/04/2020 20:21

Great speech, thought she looked very sad though , captured the nations mood very well

fireflower998 · 05/04/2020 20:22

I love the Queen and she can do no wrong. Long Live The Queen!

augustusglupe · 05/04/2020 20:22

I love our Queen!!

Ughmaybenot · 05/04/2020 20:23

I loved it. I got quite emotional about it actually.

TSSDNCOP · 05/04/2020 20:24

Didn't she lantern? These speeches have only been fine at real low points in her life. The weight of expectation is so high.

WhiteWriting · 05/04/2020 20:24

Surprisingly moving I thought - the scope of her experience left me comforted and reassured.

Khione · 05/04/2020 20:25

Loved the fact she 'reclaimed' the rainbow - as something that we all, especially children, love and see as a sign of better things to come.

'We'll meet again' was a masterstroke too.

TSSDNCOP · 05/04/2020 20:25

Done not fine

bellabelly · 05/04/2020 20:25

I found it very moving which took me by surprise. I think it was really important for her to speak to the nation like this and she struck just the right tone.

Iwantacookie · 05/04/2020 20:27

I thought what she said was spot on. I only wished she had done it 2 weeks ago. I think it would of gained alot more support.

StillSmallVoice · 05/04/2020 20:27

I bloody love our gracious queen. I am an Australian republican. 👏

stanski · 05/04/2020 20:28

Absolute legend she is.

Meckity1 · 05/04/2020 20:31

I always get the feeling that the Queen will do her duty and the hell with it.

Feel better for watching it.

YangShanPo · 05/04/2020 20:35

I liked it and liked the comparison between her first broadcast in 1940 to children separated from their families by the evacuation and now when she is like many grandparents separated from their families.
I think now was a good time as things are becoming increasingly difficult, the death toll is rising and people are really missing their families.

Bookoffacts · 05/04/2020 20:35

I love the Queen and I thought it was a brilliant speech. Very moving.

TwentyViginti · 05/04/2020 20:37

"We will meet again"
I proper sobbed.
That iconic song sprung immediately to mind.

starrynight19 · 05/04/2020 20:39

I thought it was well measured and the end was very touching.
How amazing to be able to deliver that speech in such a heartfelt way at her age.
Good call HM I think you will have touched a lot of people this evening.

ajandjjmum · 05/04/2020 20:41

She's brilliant. No-one else could have done that and had the same impact - literally no-one else in the world.

A wise, experienced woman - hope she knows how much the majority of us appreciate you.

We'll meet again Sad

ilovesooty · 05/04/2020 20:41

I hoped she'd really hammer home the necessity of following the guidelines. Disappointing. It's a speech that in my view should have been broadcast two weeks ago anyway. In any case she has no credibility in terms of talking about the challenging nature of the current situation.
