It's the 1980's and the telly's on. What are you watching?

I thought I might watch Dallas, perhaps that new Brookside and maybe Robin of Sherwood.
I might even open up a bottle of libfraumilch or mix a pernod and black. I've got one of those new remote controls attached to the telly too.
Anyone want a seat on the sofa?

Falcon Crest
The Love Boat
Nanny (with Wendy Craig)
Jonathan Ross show on C4 on Friday night
The Tube
Soul Train
The Gentle Touch

Pebble Mill
That's Life - but the brass theme tune will turn my insides out with anxiety as it was the last thing we watched on Sunday night before a full week of school which terrified and depressed me. Sorry Esther!

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 25/03/2020 11:41

Oh I'd forgotten the Pink Windmill! My ballet school sent its boarding and day pupils from the performing arts private school to be the children on that. I only went on a Saturday and was so jealous of my friend who was a full time pupil and got to be on it! What a blast from the past.

DesdamonasHandkerchief · 25/03/2020 11:42

DayswithaY oooh yes I loved Jonathon Ross back in the day (biweekly not so much) I remember him doing a duet with Tom Jones of Its Not Unusual on an episode I'd taped and I watched it over and over.

PP wasn't 'there's somebody at the door' from Tiswas? Or did they appropriate it from The Pink Windmill Show - which I've never heard of.

DesdamonasHandkerchief · 25/03/2020 11:43

*biweekly ??? Where did that come from, it was meant to say 'now not so much'!

CathyorClaire · 25/03/2020 11:59

Dallas and Lovejoy.

Also can't wait for the next episodes of mini-series Celebrity, The Thorn Birds and V

CathyorClaire · 25/03/2020 12:05

Oh. Forgot:

Quantum Leap
Treasure Hunt and Treasure Hunt spin-off The Interceptor. Dh and I can still be heard exclaiming 'I LIKE it!' on apposite occasions Grin

TSSDNCOP · 25/03/2020 12:07

1981: the Royal Wedding
Fame
TOTP, if you missed it school next day was social death
Dallas
Multi coloured Swap Shop
Neighbours but thought it was shit
Eastenders but thought it was shit

The thing was even if you hated it, you watched as there was so little choice.

I read a lot.

CathyorClaire · 25/03/2020 12:12

Can we videotape things too?

Friends and I had tapes of Bowie's Ashes To Ashes, Ultavox's Oh Vienna and Visage's Fade To Grey blagged from TOTP which nearly got worn through from overplaying Grin

ElinoristhenewEnid · 25/03/2020 12:14

My dcs were born mid-late 80s when daytime television was really starting. Loved Australian soaps
Neighbours
Home and away
Young doctors
Sons and daughters
Prisoner cell block h

Various vintages but all used the same actors so actor spotting between the different series was interesting!!

pinksmileysticker · 25/03/2020 12:42

Robin of Sherwood

The Mysterious Cities of Gold

Spiderman and His Amazing Friends

Otherworld.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otherworld_(TV_series)

Star Trek - The Next Generation

A Team

Knight Rider

Dungeons and dragons

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 25/03/2020 13:20

Maid Marian and her Merry Men!

EngagedAgain · 25/03/2020 13:37

Lace yes, loved that.
The thorn birds with Richard Chamberlain.
War and peace with Robert Mitchum.
Knots landing missed that out earlier. Think there was a link with that and Dallas re their family links?

YeahRiiiiight · 25/03/2020 13:49

80s daytime telly was great.

The Sullivans was my (and my Gran’s!) favourite.

theluckiest · 25/03/2020 14:08

It's Christmas so we're watching The Box of Delights and The Children of Green Knowe.

Or we might hire one of those video player things from the video shop and watch Ghostbusters (but my mum won't let me cos it's 'too scary' Hmm)

Lynda07 · 25/03/2020 14:14

Corrie, Hi de Hi, Dallas, Dear Jane, various children's programmes such as 'Rainbow'.

Lynda07 · 25/03/2020 14:19

I'd forgotten 'The Thorn Birds', Richard Chamberlain was gorgeous. I didn't know 'War and Peace' was on in the 1980s with Robert Mitcham but do remember 'The Winds of War'.

I didn't generally have the TV on during the day but remember my mum loving 'The Sullivans'.

Spitting Image and Prisoner Cell Block H. The South Bank Show.

sobersides · 25/03/2020 14:33

Blake's Seven , Fantasy Island , Hart to Hart and Quincy 'just give me 24 more hours' MD

dayswithaY · 25/03/2020 14:38

I think "There's somebody at the door" was from Emu's Pink Windmill show . Didn't Grot Bags the witch start saying it and all the kids joined in?

What about Dr Snuggles - friend to the animal world.

dayswithaY · 25/03/2020 14:42

Ooh just remembered The Clothes Show on BBC1. I thought I was so cool watching that - was it Selina Scott? They had a nationwide modelling competition on it.

The iconic Wogan show - it was on three times a week with loads of A listers. We're convinced Knowing me Knowing you with Alan Partridge was based on it. Aha!

PertEllaTitsahoy · 25/03/2020 14:43

Can anyone remember Murphy's Mob

No, but you've just reminded me of a show called Jossys Giants which was about a kids football club.
