It's the 1980's and the telly's on. What are you watching?

I thought I might watch Dallas, perhaps that new Brookside and maybe Robin of Sherwood.
I might even open up a bottle of libfraumilch or mix a pernod and black. I've got one of those new remote controls attached to the telly too.
Anyone want a seat on the sofa?

Hmm. Brideshead Revisited. Who could choose between the equally divine Anthony Andrews and Jeremy Irons?!

IncyWincyGrownUp · 25/03/2020 21:20

We’re having Saturday tea in the living room, on trays because it’s posh, and watching The A Team. I’m complaining because I don’t like chops, and the cat is poised to steal something from dad’s plate the minute he isn’t concentrating.

EngagedAgain · 25/03/2020 21:20

@x2boys, thank for enlightening me!

midsomermurderess · 25/03/2020 21:30

MyBlueMoonbeam · 25/03/2020 21:56

Follyfoot and Bouquet of Barbed Wire were 70s - just sayin 👀

Likethebattle · 25/03/2020 22:00

I was terrified of V, I was only a little girl as I was 6 moths old in 1980. I used to cry and hide when V was on. My mum liked to tape things then watch them during the day.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/03/2020 23:10

Oh yes "V" ...I used to cover the guinea-pigs' eyes when we watched that Wink

IncyWincyGrownUp · 25/03/2020 23:25

TheInebriati my mum loved Tenko. I managed to find it all on VHS for her in the early 2000s, and she said it was the best Christmas present I ever managed to acquire.

Prospects was an "edgy" comedy drama set in the Isle of Dogs with two young lads, one was called Pincey and played by Gary Olsen (Two Point Four Kids) and the other was Brian Bovell. It was like a younger version of Minder. DH and I both remembered it as being the greatest show ever. I found the DVD on Amazon and bought it.

What a let down. Wobbly camera work, terrible sound, slow plot, wooden acting. I remember it as being so cutting edge! The only good thing about it was seeing parts of London that don't exist any more and are now Canary Wharf.

sunnyday1976 · 26/03/2020 07:53

I'd be watching Watching!

TheMemoryLingers · 26/03/2020 07:56

@MarxandMarzipan I remember SWALK! It's on YouTube if you want to revisit it. It's hard to think of a series that better encapsulates the early 80s.

CathyorClaire · 26/03/2020 10:36

Triangle! Who'd have thought that a North Sea ferry centred drama could be so riveting?

I adored that show and I thought I was the only person in the country who did or even remembered it Grin. Was absolutely gutted when it was axed Sad

Sizeablecontours · 26/03/2020 10:44

Oh gosh ... Flambards ...I used to love that! Still have the books in fact!

EngagedAgain · 26/03/2020 15:04

Just looked up Flambards as rang a bell but couldn't recall it as such. Looks good but didn't run for long. Also several pp's have mentioned Triangle. Never watched it but think I would like it now. Just one of those ones that bypassed me back in the day. Especially as it starred a young Larry Lamb! Got to liking him when he was in Eastender's. His son George is rather dishy too. Can't make up my mind who I fancy more!
