Have you aged ten years overnight on a supermarket website?
Are you sticking to the 'two sheets' rule?
Have you had it with singing celebrities?
Are you yearning for what we will now call The Before Times?

If you've answered yes to any of the above, here's where you come to post threads about Naice Things - like ham and cats. Where The Virus That Must Not Be Named (TVTMNBM) is off-limits.

We'll do our best to keep the corona-free zone moderated - you do your best to chill out and gather strength. Flowers Brew

Keep using the normal boards for normal stuff, but here's where to come if you need a break. We're hoping everyone will see the value of having somewhere to get away from it all.

Thanks,
MNHQ

Well it’s just as well you enlightened me womble before I tried to cook with it!! Oh dear. There are blankets of garlic nearby but
It must be mixed in with snowdrops or bluebells which are past flowering. Thanks for saving me from poisoning the family!

theoriginalmadambee · 03/04/2020 12:27

Having a birthday in the family today, we had to make it very much diy. So have baked the breakfast buns and 'danish' snails myself instead of just going to the baker's. Skype meeting meant we had breakfast at 11.30, nice but different Smile.

Anyone around?

Happy birthday to whoever in your family it is!
Homemade Danish 'snails' sound lovely.

theoriginalmadambee · 03/04/2020 16:04

It keeps getting shitter, dd's horse has just been put down 😭.

Please has any of you something positive to tell.

MinnieMountain · 03/04/2020 16:25

Can you post the recipe for Danish snails please @theoriginalmadambee? It sounds intriguing.

I'm sorry about your DD's horse. That's shit.

I'm going to start making a gingerbread house from scratch with DS shortly. If I can tear him away from playing Minecraft in his pants that is.

Sissymate2 · 03/04/2020 18:16

@LEELULUMPKIN
I just got around to your post..
Happy Birthday from America!
How about Lionel Richie's DANCING ON THE CEILING?
great peppy song for any time!

Sissymate2 · 03/04/2020 19:05

@theoriginalmadambee
What a distressing thing for your DDs and you...I am so sorry and sending a hug for you and DD.Flowers
My DD has loved horses her whole life...she started lessons at the wee age of 4 yrs...I have a hilarious video of her first lesson...The instructor had the horse on a lead and had it trot around in a large circle with my wee muppet perched on top. She was so small that every time the horse took a step her helmet slid further and further down her head. By the end of the lesson it was covering her entire face and she couldn't see a thing....she didn't complain one bit
I guess she didn't care if she could see, she just wanted to ride that horse. At the end of the lesson when the instructor was showing her how to untack the horse, he swished his long beautiful white tail across DDs face and got her right it the eye. Poor thing! That didn't put her off horses in the least and has led to many happy times of riding in competitions despite being thrown many times! 25 years after that first lesson, she actually got married at a beautiful outdoor location at a horse barn.
Do you have any fond memories of your DD and her horse that you feel like sharing?

Sissymate2 · 03/04/2020 19:14

Here is a couple photos of our little old lady 14 year old pug, Gracie. She keeps us laughing every day without even trying.
She is very attached to me and gets quite offended if I go outside in the garden without taking her to supervise...as I move around a lot from front to back I decided to put her my grandsons old pushchair since if I had to wait for her to follow me I'd get little done. I guess she got a bit bored and decided that a kip was in order😂

So sorry about your DD's horse, madambee Thanks
Great pug - she looks like Yoda in the second photo. My DD used to have a yoda T-shirt with the slogan 'Calm you must be and carry on you must'.

Coldhandscoldheart · 03/04/2020 19:30

I’ve been watching this video of a real tennis match - it’s such an odd thing to watch!
Am about to try some of the only connect missing vowels rounds.

Coldhandscoldheart · 03/04/2020 19:31

MyySharona!
It’s still there.

theoriginalmadambee · 03/04/2020 21:04

Thank you all for distracting me. Just made dh his birthdays dinner and the oven decided to act up (about 1 year old) and burnt the potato wedges and the double lamb rack, i was cooking for the first time.

@sissymate2 your dd stories made me smile. If you are bitten by the horse bug, they can do no wrong . Love your princess Gracie, she looks very into the princessy role .

Not got any stories yet, but so proud of dd, who held her horse during and had the stamina to be there all the way. She is studying to become a vet, so has witnessed it before, but when it is your own pet/animal it is so much more distressing.

@MinnieMountain i will give it a go translating the recipe, but won't be until tomorrow at the earliest.

But thank you all Smile.

ErrolTheDragon · 03/04/2020 23:13

Talking of translation, if any of you haven't seen this thread (or didn't dare peer in beyond its title), it's got some gems.

Coldhandscoldheart · 04/04/2020 08:04

@ErrolTheDragon brilliant isn’t it. I’m terrified my kids might want a dudelsack some day.

It’s been a bad morning already DH & I both got out the wrong side of bed. He got a lie in & now I’ve retreated (yes I realise it’s only 8am. ) It’s harder for him as he’s trying to wfh with the kids, whereas I get to go out to work, but fuck me, they’re irritating. But lovely. But irritating.
Need to reset the day a bit.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 04/04/2020 11:04

Here is a couple photos of our little old lady 14 year old pug, Gracie. She keeps us laughing every day without even trying.

She's lovely Sissy - and 14! Very good age for a pug.

She does rather remind me of Ena Sharples, though . . . Grin

Omg, just add the hairnet. Who could have guessed that the offspring of Ena and Yoda would be so adorable?ShockGrin

@minniemountain here goes, hope I remembered everything Smile

Sissymate2 · 04/04/2020 18:24

@SchadenfreudePersonified @ErrolTheDragon @theoriginalmadambee
Well, you lot are quite hilarious!🤣 I wasn't familiar with Ena so after checking her out on google I have to say Princess Gracie could be the love child of Ena and YodaGrin..Don't tell her that though as she thinks she's GORGEOUS(beauty is in the eye of the beholder after all)
I swear she BEGGED me to put on her pearls in the the attached photo....she also wanted you all to see her geisha outfit that she wore to a costume do. Both were taken a few years ago before old age began to set in

@ErrolTheDragon
That translation thread is brill!
And after we try @theoriginalmadambee's snail recipe we are all going to be kummerspec...sounds so much better than emotionally pigging out in a stressful time😂🥯🥞🥨🥓🍔🍟🍕🌭🌮🍿🍰🎂🍪🍩🍨🍧🍦🧁🥧🍫🍫🍫🍬🍭🍮🍹🍹🍹🍹 🍇🍉🍐🍋🍌🍍🥑🍅🍎🍆🍗🥩🍖

Madambee your DD sounds lovely and I'm sure she is going to be such a comfort to pet owners once she finishes her training....it takes a special person to have so much compassion for hurting people and their pets.
Btw, what happened with the roasty toasty birthday dinner you made for DH...we would have just scraped off the burned bits...hope you could do the same

Sissymate2 · 04/04/2020 18:54

people who are hurting and there pets

MinnieMountain · 04/04/2020 19:18

My word she's adorable @Sissymate2.

The photos reminds me of the gay dog show I went to in Hove.

theoriginalmadambee · 04/04/2020 19:45

Thank you @Sissymate2 my dd is very compassionate, hope it continues Smile.

From now on whenever someone on MN refers to pearl clutching, I will be picturing princess Gracie Grin, she is lovely.

Oh we had the dinner, I covered the roast in tin foil not to burn it more, threw the burnt potatoes (some were left). Aired out all the smoke while finishing cooking, reheated the room and dinner was lovely after all HmmGrin.
