I thought it would be nice to spread some positivity. We may all be stuck in lockdown, but there is so much we have to be thankful for. Picking something each we are thankful for might help keep our spirits up.

Today I am thankful for the sunshine, it means I can get out in the garden with the LO and burn off some energy safely.

What are you thankful for and why?

I am thankful that...
DD is behaving herself.
DP is working from home and making some progress.
Daytime TV is not too different to normal.

IpanemaGallina · 24/03/2020 12:57

I’m thankful that, although homeschooling can be tough at times, one of my dd’s is getting a break from the bullying girls that have been relentless since January. She’s so chilled out now she’s home all the time.

YgritteSnow · 24/03/2020 12:59

I'm thankful for Joe Wicks and his workout got kids every morning. It gets the day off to a positive start.

Disney +

My FB friends who make me laugh even in these awful, scary times.

My dog who makes me smile whenever I look at his silly (but handsome) face.

Finally and most importantly my children who are being wonderful and cooperative and managing better cooped up than I could have ever hoped for.

Another thing - we are in a small village full of old people self-isolating and not in a city commuter town as we used to be.

Summer776 · 24/03/2020 13:01

The sun shining. Washing outside and door open.

AnneJeanne · 24/03/2020 13:02

Sunshine and a safe comfortable home.

Dollywilde · 24/03/2020 13:04

I am grateful for the extra hour in bed I’m getting because I don’t have a long commute on the train and tube.

MamaRaisingBoys · 24/03/2020 13:05

Sunshine and a large lovely garden for the dc to play in. It’s making a huge difference to my preschoolers who are used to being out and about every day

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 24/03/2020 13:05

The sun is shining
The kids are smiling
DH is home with us (when he's not at work)- but it's a lot better than lots of other families have
I'm seeing so many communities coming together and people going out of their way to make things better for others- like the people doing exercise classes online, the online choir, actors dressing up and reading stories...

Devlesko · 24/03/2020 13:05

I'm thankful dd has stuff to do that will still count towards her GCSE grades.
I'm thankful I have a park across the road to walk and exercise.
I'm thankful that none of us have to go out and catch the virus.
I'm thankful we have food, essentials and toilet rolls.
I'm thankful I didn't see the point in panic buying, so not adding to stupid.
I'm thankful my grown up dc are all working from home now.

The sunshine, the garden and my family

user1493413286 · 24/03/2020 13:08

To have a garden and security in my job

goldenorbspider · 24/03/2020 13:09

Thankful for my garden! Chucked my 3 year old out earlier with a bucket of soapy water. Kept him quiet for 30mins

Had an order off eBay! I'd stopped listing my reselling business has been dead this week so soo happy to have a sale

Managed to order some play sand for delivery! Wasn't any available yesterday

PenguinsOnParade · 24/03/2020 13:09

The coffee shop at DH's work is closing at the end of today. He's getting to bring some leftover milk home as they were going to throw it out. They don't have leftover cake unfortunately. I already asked. Grin

InsertRandomWordsHere · 24/03/2020 13:12

I'm getting up almost an hour and a half later each day no stressful commute and I'm saving money each day on petrol which in turn is helping the environment too.

MovinOnUp · 24/03/2020 13:17

I'm thankful that...

We are in good health
My loved ones are in good health
The DC have a laptop each
We have a garden
We have enough food/toiletries in the house
That I should still get 80% of my wages

RaininSummer · 24/03/2020 13:21

I am thankful that I bought a new laptop recently as my 12 year old desktop wouldn't have cut it. Thankful my lock in companions are reasonable largely good humoured people. Thankful I have food, heat, water etc. Thankful my extended family seem to be coping at present and have good attitudes. Thankful I have enough wool ,fabric, books etc to see me to the end of days whenever that is. Thankful I have a job at present but this may not continue.

MissSueFlay · 24/03/2020 13:27

So very thankful for the sunshine, our little garden and DD's trampoline.
Thankful for tech that's making this whole thing a bit more bearable, especially for DD who's an only and missing her friends.
Thankful that my parents seem to be listening to the government and complying!

PrincessHoneysuckle · 24/03/2020 13:35

That its sunny and me and ds can be outside.Plus can get washing dried.

That ds 6 is being well behaved.

That mince seems to be back in stock at Asda (for now)

That our family are virus free.

IAmFleshIAmBone · 24/03/2020 13:37

That my yeast which is three years out of date is still active and my loaf of bread is rising nicely Grin

Bunnylady54 · 24/03/2020 13:37

Grateful for this thread OP - oh boy do we all need some positivity at the moment!
We are all well
We have heat, light, sewage, post, rubbish collection, running water etc etc
It’s dry & I can put washing out
I’m doing jobs I haven’t had time to do
DD has voluntarily looked up maths websites & we are planning to do some music & art
We are planning to bake something different every Saturday ( made gluten free buns at the weekend which were delicious)
My DM & DF are well & for now have all they need
Our bunnies are well & ok for hay - such a joy to watch them in the garden
There may be selfish idiots around but I have heard of so many amazing & truly heartwarming acts of kindness locally
There are some really informative groups on Facebook
DH is home ( he usually does long hours 6 days a week)
I have only struggled to get a few items - missing wholemeal pasta but that’s nothing
I have books & my piano & DVDs I haven’t watched

IceKitten · 24/03/2020 13:46

My lovely family.

HasaDigaEebowai · 24/03/2020 13:52

All the additional family time that we would never have had - currently DH and two teens in the garden playing rugby
My garden and chickens - 6 eggs a day
My pantry (ok my prepping was for brexit not worldwide pandemic but its now coming in extremely handy)
The pair of jays flying in and out of the woods and past my window.
The sunshine
The fact that we are lucky enough to live somewhere where we don't see other people anyway so we can just pretend its the school holidays.
The fact that we all love reading and so sitting in the garden reading is a lovely family thing to do

Emmacb82 · 24/03/2020 13:54

I’m grateful for every little kick and wriggle I get from my unborn son.

The cuddles and smiles I get from my 4 year old.

For my colleagues at work who are on the frontline dealing with this awful virus, normally I would be right there with them but not being pregnant.

I will eternally be grateful for ALL the country who are adhering to the lockdown and aren’t putting lives in jeopardy through their own selfish stupidity.

SeaViewBliss · 24/03/2020 13:56

I am thankful for my DCs - DD22 and DS15 are both home and keeping me plied with coffee and food while I work. (NHS Support services)

They have also made cupcakes, hung out the washing, tidied and hoovered the lounge and now DD is helping DS with some school work.
