Hi. How accurate are the dating scans because we’ve had ours and things don’t add up. We couldn’t have conceived when they have said because we had a week break from our relationship and the dating scan lands in that week! And to make things even more weird she said she had a period a few days after she conceived. I’m worried I’m not the dad

Any help on this please?????

I had an implantation bleed after conception which felt a bit like a period. Could be that. Dating scans are usually accurate, sit down and have an honest chat.

I’ve tried having an honest chat but she’s says it’s mine and she’s not slept with anyone else. We did have sex 2 days after our Conceived date, could that be when we got pregnant? Or am I being taken for a mug?

And she also went out the day/night that we have meant to conceive so I don’t know what to think

Just to check do you know pregnancy weeks are counted from the first day of the last period? Not actual conception day

I had ivf, the exact due date (very accurate) was the 10th, my dating scan they moved it forward and said the 1st... I don't think they're always the most reliable.. that said, I've never had a "natural" pregnancy so I don't know

Talk to your partner, air your concerns now rather than later

None of my dayes added up, and i know i was only banging my husband- 40 weeks back from the due date they gave me i was staying with my mum while my husband was on a boys trip. Also, they gave me one due date at my 8wk scan and another at the 12, and then another again at the 20. Its not an exact science, they take an average of several measurements.

If i were you, id stop interrogating your pregnant gf about it- if my husband had done that to me he'd be living alone right now.

This is difficult.
My dating scans were both about of date by 3 weeks!! Cause I was keeping track and have problems which means I only ovulated every other month.
So unless you have trust issues or have problems in your relationship I wouldn't base it on scab dates.

Nope all three of my dating scans were different to what I thought. They are not 100% infact I think I read it could be a week either side

They’re not accurate at all. Mine was 2 and a half weeks out of date. My partner was working away when I (according to them) conceived. And it’s dated from the last ovulation, not the time you actually had sex. And it’s possible to still have periods after, or implantation bleeds. Not to say it’s definitely yours, she still could have cheated

Both of my due dates would’ve meant that my children were conceived when I was on my period, about cycle day 5. I know for a fact that they were not conceived until at least a week later. They are notoriously inaccurate.

I'm going to add, you do know that you could have had sex and your girlfriend conceived from that a few days afterwards, rather than at that exact moment?

we’ve had the 12 week scan and that’s the date they have given us and I counted back and it lands on the night she went out with her friends and stayed out. We had sex a few days later. But they gave us the exact date that she went out so my head is so massed with it all.

So the exact date they give us isn’t the date then it’s just around that time?

With my youngest they put his due date over two weeks later than I had worked out. I knew they were wrong, I had a positive test on the day before they said I conceived. He was born early according to their dates weighing in at almost 8lb. Using my dates he was a couple of days late, just like my other two.

They aren't always right. Certainly not to the day.

Dd was conceived whilst we were on an aeroplane according to my scan dates. We were not joining the mile high club!

I knew my Dd was due on a certain date (or thereabouts). I had a dating scan which moved her due date to two weeks later. She was born exactly on the day I said she was due and was 7lb 8oz and the Dr who delivered her said she was definitely not two weeks early.

They changed my dates four times during my pregnancy.

No counting back 12 weeks is the first day of her last period

Count back roughly 10 weeks and that's around conception

There was a one week difference between the private scan and the NHS scan. There was no period to date by.

Tbh if your first thought at an inaccuracy was Cheating/lying your relationship has real,huge issues.

The date they gave you (so if they said shes 12 wks 1 day at the scan) is 12 wks 1 day from.the first day of her last period. Approx 2 weeks before she conceived.

The pregnancy is counted from the first day of last period whereas in reality the pregnancy doesn't start until after that, for many people fourteen days after period finishes but it varies, not all women ovulate in the middle of 28 days, it could be three or four days after the end of the period. That may help you.

Did you have suspicions of your girlfriend before she became pregnant?

My husband burst out laughing at the dating scan of our second.

Because it was slap bang in the middle of him being in another country.

The sonographer even had the audacity to argue they were highly accurate.
Luckily he told her it was definitely wrong.

It’ll be around 2 weeks out op. The dating scan dates back to the last period. Most women are only fertile around 2 weeks after their period. So she will have conceived around 2 weeks after she went out, not on the actual date that they give you
