Has anyone found a really good brand of decaf tea?

Just that really!

I usually drink a builders tea with Yorkshire gold but I'm cutting back on the caffeine (pregnant). I still have a nice strong cuppa in the morning but I'd easily drink 4-5 a day if I could.
I've only tried the ALDI decaf but it's awful- anyone found a good one?

I love tea, drink tons of it. I switched to decaf recently and noticed no difference at all?
I would normally have a good taste and sense of smell, (as in I can always tell different versions of the same drinks apart)
I really dont notice any difference at all.
I have been drinking Lyons, Barry's and Bewleys decaf.

StCharlotte · 25/02/2020 20:19

I was staying with a friend. Had plenty of tea. A few weeks later she told me it was decaff. I never noticed. That was Yorkshire tea.

sakura06 · 25/02/2020 20:28

Agree with many others that Yorkshire decaf is great.

Another vote for Yorkshire Decaff but let it brew for 3 mins

okiedokieme · 25/02/2020 20:29

Redbush tastes better than decaf tea

HidingUnderMyDuvet · 25/02/2020 20:30

I stick to the tesco own brand one. It's pretty decent!

FamilyOfAliens · 25/02/2020 20:31

Are Yorkshire Tea or PG Tips fairtrade?

MaggieFS · 25/02/2020 20:33

I've tried all of the ones I could get my hands on and Yorkshire was by far the best. Twinings was bearable but not as good.

Interestingly, I was out for lunch last week and they served Birchwood decaf which I'd never heard of. I only had one cup, but it was also good. I'm going to keep an eye out for it.

MaggieFS · 25/02/2020 20:38

Sorry, Birchall not Birchwood

potionmaking · 25/02/2020 20:39

WTF is wrong with you lot? Yorkshire Decaf is proper rank Envy

Waitrose Essential or M&S decaf are far superior. Grin

maa1992 · 25/02/2020 20:40

I like tetleys decaf

OlivejuiceU2 · 25/02/2020 20:41

Yorkshire Tea for me too. Been on decaf for 2 years now

EsmeShelby · 25/02/2020 20:41

Clipper is my favourite by far. Yorkshire comes second.

Carnabie · 25/02/2020 20:49

I think it depends on your water.
PIL have pg tips decaf which tastes nice where they live (normally can’t stand pg tips) but it’s vile here.
Dsis has Yorkshire, again nice at her house but horrible here.
I wanted to like clipper but didn’t.
The best I’ve found for here is Thompson’s or Waitrose essential but even those taste a bit funny

redeyetonowheregood · 25/02/2020 20:54

Clipper is dire, far too weak. I use Waitrose own brand essential decaf. I makes a good strong cup if you leave the bag a while.

BunsyGirl · 25/02/2020 20:59

Another vote for Yorkshire decaf!

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 25/02/2020 21:16

Tesco decaff Earl Grey is lovely and not too wickedly expensive. We also drink Earl Grey Rooibos which is definitely caffeine-free and a favourite for a shared pot at about half past eight in the evening.

Smidge001 · 25/02/2020 21:24

Pg Decaff for me

FreezerBird · 25/02/2020 21:32

Another vote for co-op decaff, which I buy because it's the only fair trade decaff I can find (apart from clipper which I'm not keen on).

Fair trade decaff earl grey is the holy grail which I have not yet found.

Clutterfreeintraining · 25/02/2020 21:39

My vote also goes to Waitrose essential.
I'm not normally a tea drinker but their decaf is my drink of choice at the moment.

SistemaAddict · 25/02/2020 21:40

@woodhill I find chocolate hobnobs or anything chocolate eaten when drinking tea makes it taste fishy. Never used to, but now I can no longer enjoy a chocolate hobnobs or two three with a cup of tea.

OP, I used to drink Tetley decaf and liked it. I have t tried any others though and just have regular Tetley now.

Ah, maybe it's since I stopped having sugar in my tea that it tastes fishy if with chocolate? The two events happened around the same time I think. Experiment coming up!

dustibooks · 25/02/2020 21:42

Another vote for Tetley.

romany4 · 25/02/2020 21:50

Sainsburys own decaf.
Tried all named brands and other supermarkets but Sainsbury's is the best

Eminybob · 25/02/2020 22:09

I agree that Yorkshire tea is best.

Although, in my opinion, it isn’t the taste that’s different in decafs, it’s more the feeling you get from having your first sip. I guess it’s a caffeine buzz, but doesn’t feel like that, more of an “aaaah” feeling. Decafs don’t have that

Cakes4Teatime · 25/02/2020 22:40

Well brewed Yorkshire decaf doesn’t taste any different to their normal one - best of the Decafs by far!

Best looseleaf decaf is Canton Decaf English breakfast.
