Has anyone found a really good brand of decaf tea?

Just that really!

I usually drink a builders tea with Yorkshire gold but I'm cutting back on the caffeine (pregnant). I still have a nice strong cuppa in the morning but I'd easily drink 4-5 a day if I could.
I've only tried the ALDI decaf but it's awful- anyone found a good one?

I’m in Ireland. I drink Barry’s tea decaf or Lyons tea decaf. You need to go with the posh brands for decaf tea - Lidl and Aldi stuff is woeful.

I find PG tips decaf to be the best

Plsnomorepeppapig · 25/02/2020 19:26

There are loads to choose from but my favourite is Twinings everyday decaf. I also have the twinings earl grey decaf.

Watching with interest Polly - cut out caffeine myself recently. I was going to try Clipper decaf as they use a method of decaffeination that uses no chemicals.

Zebramumma · 25/02/2020 19:26

Twinings English breakfast decaf. Was the only one I found that didn’t look (& taste!) like dishwater

Abneyandteal19 · 25/02/2020 19:27

Yorkshire decaf is best I have tried a lot!! The other thing is to leave the bag in for a good stew or even better make a pot.

boatyardblues · 25/02/2020 19:27

Yorkshire decaf tea (blue stripe on box) is good.

Monstermoomin · 25/02/2020 19:28

I switched to tetley decaff when pregnant and still drunk them now (8 months post birth) as I like the taste. Usually buy them when on offer and they make a nice strong brew with no tea bits left to gag on.

RNBrie · 25/02/2020 19:28

Yorkshire decaf for me too. Been off caffeine for a while now and it's easily one of the best

woodhill · 25/02/2020 19:29

Yes they taste of fish😊

defectiveinspector · 25/02/2020 19:29

Another here for Yorkshire. I can't tell it's decaf, whereas with all the others there is a different taste. I only drink decaf now, same with coffee, but for that I'm happy with Aldi own brand filter, again no taste difference.

TheSmelliestHouse · 25/02/2020 19:33

There's a big difference but when I had to cut caffeine out, I slowly switched over to redbush, ie one cup a day to start. Now I only drink redbush. No caffeine and it's nice.

pollysproggle · 25/02/2020 19:33

@woodhill
They taste of fish!

Another fan of Yorkshire decaf here.

I've tried many of the big brand decaf and they just don't cut the mustard, it's like drinking warm milky water. Tetley decaf is bland IMO.

I'd given up the search for the perfect decaf tea, but relented recently when I spotted the Yorkshire box. So pleased I did. I can now have as many cups of tea as I like after 4pm (caffeine after that time = no sleep for me)

Yorkshire Tea Decaf

TheFurryMenace · 25/02/2020 19:36

I like PG decaf the best.

Redcrayons · 25/02/2020 19:38

Another vote for a Yorkshire tea. It’s not quite the same as normal tea, but it’s more than adequate substitute.

seekingwaxwings · 25/02/2020 19:38

Like thesmellies I only drink redbush now and I love it. I used to be a fiend for regular tea but I can't stand the stuff now!

It's delicious and refreshing and unlike regular tea you can drink loads of it without getting a sick tummy (or a tea bally as we say round here). I drink it without milk and I leave the bag in until it's cool enough to drink. Mmmm!

rosieposies · 25/02/2020 19:39

Nothing quite compares to PG tips for me, don't ever have normal tea

pollysproggle · 25/02/2020 19:39

Looks like Yorkshire and Twinings are the ones to try, thank you!

sunshineANDsweetpeas · 25/02/2020 19:41

I had Yorkshire tea, decaf at a friends and I don't realise it was decaf

OneOfManyDays · 25/02/2020 19:43

Yorkshire decaf - only one I found that was strong enough!

Readysetcake · 25/02/2020 19:43

Another vote for Yorkshire decaf! I’ve also tried loads. Clipper and pg tips come in second.

HopeClearwater · 25/02/2020 19:43

Clipper decaf is weak

Readysetcake · 25/02/2020 19:44

Also find stewing slightly longer and a bit less milk really help the taste
