where have I put my passport

I have a filing cabinet with hanging files and an entire folder called Passport. It's not hanging out there.

I've sifted through the inevitable pile of paperwork to sort later. It's not lurking there.

The last time I may have had it was when I was going to get a will last November during Wills Month. I might have put it in a bag but I never went as something urgent came up, so I don't think it left the house. Checked bags and no sign of it.

I am pretty stumped. Its only a 2 bed flat. All I can think of is going through every room piece by piece.

Where would you look for a lost passport?

If you have a printer with a scan function check you’ve not left it on there. Speaking from personal experience!

MyNameHasBeenTaken · 27/01/2020 15:55

Mine were all in the medicine box to keep them safe.

Hoohaahoo · 27/01/2020 15:56

Gave you checked all bags? Where do you keep the bags? Have you checked behind any cupboards etc in the area?

muddledmidget · 27/01/2020 16:00

Has it fallen between the hanging files in the filing cabinet? Did you have an envelope of paperwork to take to the solicitors and is it in there? Check being the filing cabinet and down the side in case you put it on the top to put away later

TheQueef · 27/01/2020 16:03

Suitcase in loft.
Mine loves it up there.

SundaySalon · 27/01/2020 16:04

Yes to checking bags and the scanner!
Otherwise check pockets including dressing gowns or hoodies. Passports always end up in the most random of places in my house. Also under the bed in case it was kicked, down the sides of furniture and cars!

Newcatmum · 27/01/2020 16:06

Did you drop it in a puddle and leave it there overnight whilst looking for your keys after a nightoutSadBlush

I did read a post on here where someone eventually found their lost passport at the very bottom of the back of the drawers and it was upright flat against back of the unit if that's a possibility?

pinacoladalover · 27/01/2020 16:08

Room by room. Every drawer side table bedside table every handbag cross/bum bag old jackets wardrobe printer scanner documents mountain file cabinet section by section take all papers out. Good luck it must be somewhere!

CrimsonCattery · 27/01/2020 18:48

Pockets of coats or old dressing gowns?

In the middle of a pile of paper?

Biscuitsneeded · 27/01/2020 18:49

Handbag. Mine was in there as I took it as ID when picking something up. had completely forgotten and it was somehow obscured by the lining of the bag.

ArnoldBee · 27/01/2020 18:51

Mine had flipped over the filing cabinet drawer and was under the filing cabinet.

EvaHarknessRose · 27/01/2020 18:53

The scanner/photocopier as pp said.

MrsDilligaf · 27/01/2020 18:54

Mine disappeared last year. I remembered having it as I needed to take it to work for something. I put it in a "safe place".

When I needed to give my passport details could I bloody find it? No. I had the whole house upside down, I moved furniture, went through cupboards, you name it, I did it.

I gave up, and ordered a replacement and two days after it arrived, I found the original nestling in a cupboard next to the posh teapot, which never gets used!

chesterfuckingdrorrs · 27/01/2020 18:57

Be methodical, start at one side of a room and work clockwise round going into EVERY nook and cranny even the ones you think can't possibly be the place before moving on to the next room

When I lost mine I panicked (needed to travel in 5 days) my house looked like it had been burgled as I ransacked the whole place. I eventually found it in a drawer in my jewellery box.

Now when I've lost important things I take the organised approach and it's much less stressful

crustycrab · 27/01/2020 18:58

Slid sideways into the mug cupboard.

In the front zip of a carry on bag

Under the filing cabinet

hoovermoover · 27/01/2020 19:02

Check in the inside pocket of the last hand luggage bag you actually did travel with. I found mine 'safely' zipped inside the inside pocket of the bag I'd taken on the last holiday we went on. If checked the bag but didn't think to check the pocket bit...

Singlewhiteguineapig · 27/01/2020 19:07

Mine was under the cooker Blush

StarlightLady · 27/01/2020 19:11

Have you taken it to the bank for ID? Mine was with a load of bank papers.

42andcounting · 27/01/2020 19:12

A friend found his inside the book he'd brought home from his last trip. Unfortunately he found it a few days after an emergency appointment to get a new one Sad

Heymacarana · 27/01/2020 19:15

I found mine in the freezer, three months after I had ordered and paid for a replacement

GrannyBags · 27/01/2020 19:19

Another vote for down the back of the filing cabinet. Mine went over the back and ended up two drawers down!

tanstaafl · 27/01/2020 19:25

Squished down the sofa/chair?

SexlessBoulderBelly · 27/01/2020 19:27

Checked all luggage and bags/travel bags, check the pockets.

Then check the car.

Then check on top of the microwave

Then check the junk draw

Then check wherever you keep post.

bananahood · 27/01/2020 19:27

In a blank white envelope with a few letters, at the bottom of a drawer, from when you had to take it to an appointment at the bank. The voice of bitter experience.

SexlessBoulderBelly · 27/01/2020 19:27
