What's the scariest dream you've ever had? I'm speachless!

I just had a nap with DS, something I haven't done in many months. I really needed it as was feeling really tired.

I dreamt of a terrorist attack. It made no sense at all, I remember telling DH in the dream that this was all very sudden since I wasn't aware we were in dispute with anyone or had upset/pissed off another country

It was bombs, there were these plans type things in the sky and they were dropping random bombs. I could see them come out of the plane. One was very close and the impact of it did hit me but it wasn't fatal.

Each bomb seemed to be getting closer and closer, then I woke up. It was incredibly real and I've never felt so shaken, I was literally fearful for my life and I remember being very 'aware' of my feelings in the dream. It's still haunting me now - And I'm aware it really is just a dream.

What's the scariest thing you've ever dreamt, that had stayed with you?

Planes flying down the middle of the road. Like 747s - this was well pre-9/11, but we lived under the Heathrow flight path and anything coming in low was scaring, at house height was vvvv scary.

Losing things that were important, like children, I've had that. Not my actual children, but dream ones. Being shot at, not being able to get away, lots of running.

Oh I have one that has stuck with me since I was about 6.

Prow of a sailing ship chopping through stormy seas, lots of sailors leaping off into the water.

The prow rides over the wrinkles of my bedding and the little sailors turn into spiders that grow as they run across the waves, up my bed, into my face.

I wake just as the first spider leg reaches towards my face....

That one stayed around for a few years. I wrote it down in detail for my O level English exam... Got an A Smile

OllyBJolly · 21/01/2020 14:38

I dreamt that some force dragged me out of bed by the hair and pulled me all the way down a carpeted hallway.

Woke up next day and my scalp was so sore and I could feel the friction burns on my back. Couldn't believe there wasn't a mark on me, the sensation was so real.

I once dreamt that DS was removed from me by police and taken into care. The way DS (then about 1 or 2 yo) screamed as they took him away (in my dream) stayed with me, despite it having been many years since. Also the dream was very clear and precise on all the hoops I then had to jump through (like, leaving DP and getting a job as a cashier at Tesco's and filling in 100s of forms - and in the dream when they said 'jump' I asked 'how high') and there was one delay in getting DS back after the other, and all the while they kept telling me 'of course you will get him back, there is no problem whatsoever, you just need to do x and then all will be sorted' and then a week later it was 'y' and then 'z' .... It felt terrible, knowing DS was in foster care and missing me and getting damaged by the separation. And I tried and tried to get him back, but woke up before the relief of achieving that goal.

I dreamed there were shooters at my kids' school and nursery, and I didn't know which building to run to first.

Took me days to get it out of my mind - actually it was in the days after the Bataclan attack and I can still remember it really vividly.

BearSoFair · 21/01/2020 14:45

I had a recurring one when I was a child, probably around 7 or 8, that there was an awful skeletal, rotting zombie-like creature living in my Nan's ceiling and it would force the light fitting out of the ceiling and squeeze itself through the hole trying to snatch anyone in the house...I was scared to go to my Nan's for a while! She lived in a towerblock so you could sometimes hear the people upstairs, I was on edge constantly being reminded of this horrible dream!

FenellaVelour · 21/01/2020 14:47

I dream about disasters a lot. Aeroplane crashes, train derailments, tsunamis and floods, fire. Sometimes I’m trapped, other times I’m watching it happen and helpless to do anything.

Also I had a sex dream about a colleague. That was terrifying.

My dream happened when I was a little girl and I still remember it vividly. That’s how much it scared me.

I clearly remember the pink puppy duvet and pillow I had.

I then remember a short crazy professor type person standing next to my bed with a glass jar.

In the jar was a tarantula.

He opened the jar and tipped it on the bed but it wasn’t just one spider. Thousands poured out.

Creepiest dream ever

ALongHardWinter · 21/01/2020 14:55

Around the time that Madeleine McCann went missing, and there was masses of media coverage about it,I had a dream that my granddaughter had gone missing. She was only 7 months old at the time, but in the dream she was a child of about 4. I woke up crying, and it took me about 20 seconds to realise that it was a dream. The feeling of relief was indescribable.

SomeLikeItTepid · 21/01/2020 15:02

TwoHeaded my scariest dreams were about planes dropping out of the sky. It doesn't sound bad but, for a while, they were quite frequent and terrifying. I wonder if it's a common dream?

MillennialPink · 21/01/2020 15:11

I had gone out to dinner on my birthday. Came home a little drunk and had a dream that has stayed with me. I was floating through an ordinary suburban house with 2 angels - one either side of me. I remember a cork board or something like that with family photos on it. I didn't know any of the people in the photos and didn't recognise the house. So I turned to one of the angels and said: Whose house is this? And they said: "It's your house. But you died 50 years ago." I woke up in absolute terror.

furrytoebean · 21/01/2020 15:16

I have a reoccurring dream that I am possessed and I'm shouting at the top of my lungs 'lick the knife: lick the knife' as I lick a huge machete cutting my face and tongue to shreds.

It's really awful I always wake up feeling the screams in my body.

I have no idea where it comes from and I would say I'm pretty emotionally balanced in real life. Blush

Twenty2 · 21/01/2020 15:20

I had a very similar dream when I first started taking mirtazipine, @RealPill, only I was shot dead in mine Shock It was so real!

SluggishSnail · 21/01/2020 15:21

I dreamt that I went into a hotel room with a white bed and found my teenage DD with her throat slit.
Still finding it hard to shake that one off....

Twenty2 · 21/01/2020 15:22

@OllyBJolly, years ago, I dreamt I was hit on the head as I rounded a corner near where I live. It woke me up and my head hurt.

It's a wonder I'm not too traumatised to sleep!

Twenty2 · 21/01/2020 15:24

I used to have an awful reoccurring dream when I was a teenager.

I was home alone at my parents house and this crazy moonfaced man in a weird pope mobile car was trying to get me. The house is on top of a hill and you can see most of the road running round the fields around it - the road loops round. I’d watch him in his weird pope mobile car zooming round and back to our house again. His car had floodlights that he kept training on the house. I had to avoid being caught in the glare otherwise he’d see me and catch me.

Such a weird awful dream that wouldn’t go away. I used to wake up terrified and drenched in sweat.

Reginabambina · 21/01/2020 15:34

I’ve always had dreams where dead people are animated since toddlerhood. Don’t know where I get it from but it’s a regular occurrence.

The only true nightmares I’ve had were about things happening to my children (one for each child). One where one fell from a great height and I couldn’t catch them (they were fine though). The other I have no memory of except that I woke up deeply distressed (only time that’s happened to me in adulthood despite regular talking corpse dreams) and that it was something to do with my baby. it took a long time to calm down from that one, must have been really horrible though.

Oh and that time I dreamt I had twin children and was frantically looking for the second baby after waking up for a hood while before realising it was just a dream.

ThisIsMeOrIsIt · 21/01/2020 15:38

Aged about 14, dreamt I saw men with guns arriving as I looked out our stairs window. Went up and hid in my room, under the duvet sliced down next to the bed. It was dark in my room and the door was shut, I could just peer out from the duvet. In the light coming in under my door I saw the silhouette of some feetthen the door opened. A man with a machine gun came in and looked around the room. His gaze stops on the duvet, his eyes seemingly locking on mine. Then he raised his gun, pointed at me, and sighted... I woke up at that point. No idea why I had that dream, I was terrified.

AudacityOfHope · 21/01/2020 15:39

Holy moly @furrytoebean Shock

Crystal87 · 21/01/2020 15:53

When I was about 5 or 6 years old I dreamt that I was a woman that lived in a cottage in the forest and looking out of my window I could see something lying under a tree. I walked towards it and I realised that it was a naked woman, lying there dead but looking at though she was asleep. I then freaked out and ran away.
That dream has stuck with me my whole life and I've no idea why a 5 year old would dream that. I've had other odd dreams too and some have predicted things that then went on to happen.

Echobelly · 21/01/2020 15:58

Most of my dreams are too odd/weird to really be scary but I had an awful one a year or so ago where DD fell from a height (not a massive one, but onto a hard surface) in a way that might realistically happen and I knew she was dead. It stuck with me because it was so realistic Sad

RealPill · 21/01/2020 20:54

Wow, good to see I'm not the only one!

Ever since childhood I've always dreamt of my mum either locking me in cupboards or disgracing me in some way/slandering me Grin

No idea why as she's a little angel! Not a bad bone is her body

One where I was walking with my little boy through town and he walked over a small drain, it broke and he fell in. He was too far down for me to reach and he slowly went below the water with his hand reaching for mine and crying for me. I feel sick just thinking about it still.
