Anyone been to a stadium gig on their own?

A band I really love and have always wanted to see live are doing a stadium gig.

I've been to plenty of gigs on my own before but little standing only venues where you can blend into the crowd.

I'm apprehensive because I'll most likely be seated and it will be fairly obvious I'm alone.

If by some miracle I do manage to get tickets when they go on sale ( expected to sell out in minutes) I can't really afford to buy two I'm the hope of taking a friend and I don't know anyone who likes the band enough to pay the £££ they want per ticket.

Has anyone ever been to a massive gig like this before alone? How was it?

I wanna go so so badly.

Yes, I used to go to lots of gigs on my own, the first couple of times I was worried about oh people will know I'm alone. But realistically people don't care or notice, they won't know your not with the people sitting beside you or even if they do clock it won't be more than a quick passing thought.
Go, enjoy!

Stabbitha · 21/01/2020 12:59

Anyone?

I havnt been alone before but if you are so eager to see this band then go for it! I've heard of plenty of people going alone before and I definitely wouldn't find it strange to see.
Theres a 'reunion tour' that I'm going to try and get tickets for coming up, it's not the best time money wise for me to buy but I dont know if they will tour again, and I know I will regret it in the future if I missed out!

I haven't, but I would if I got the opportunity to see my favourite band and had no one to go with. If you're standing, you often get separated from the people you're with anyway. I think plenty of people do go alone. Go for it! What band is it?

Stabbitha · 21/01/2020 13:15

It's My Chemical Romance and I can't afford standing tickets.

No problems going to a stadium gig on your own. I've done it and being seated is safer than standing in the pit! Surprised that standing tickets are more expensive than seated though?!

Stabbitha · 21/01/2020 13:17

I'm actually thinking I might have a better chance at getting a ticket if I only want one.

Aren't the odd and ends single seats the last to fill?

I'm seeing Elton at 02 on my own later this year. It's all seating I think as we are golden oldies! Yay!

ginandgingers92 · 21/01/2020 13:18

Is this MCR? I'll go with you 😂😂

0htooooodles · 21/01/2020 13:18

I saw Ed Sheeran on my own a few years back when he played Wembley!

Stabbitha · 21/01/2020 13:19

Apparently seated are £45 and standing are £82.

I'm not sure how accurate that is.

OP posts:
Stabbitha · 21/01/2020 13:20

Yeah. MCR.

@Stabbitha didn't see you confirming it was them, sorry!
Honestly, I feel like this is maybe one of the only opps fans will get to see them, playing all the old classics before maybe they go a different route, so if I were you in that position, I'd 100% go on my own. It'll be worth it!! I never got to see them before they split!

Definitely didn't tear up when I saw they were returning.

MissDew · 21/01/2020 13:21

I've been to see Kylie Minogue on my own. Very good show. No one noticed or cared that I was on my own.

Same deal with Madonna.

You might get chatting to the person next to you. You might be only to glad not to be with some one or people who are not enjoying each other's company ! Crowds can be great for people watching.

ginandgingers92 · 21/01/2020 13:22

According to the stadium, standing are £75, but you're probs right with £84 after booking fees 🙄

ginandgingers92 · 21/01/2020 13:23

Ps- if you've got any strategies for securing a ticket come Friday, please share them 😇 it feels like an almost impossible task and I'm not sure I could take the disappointment 😂

onemouseplace · 21/01/2020 13:24

I'd happily go on my own. Much better to be seated than standing anyway, that way you won't lose your spot if you want to get a drink/ go for a wee.

Chochito · 21/01/2020 13:25

I'd go alone, I think you'll enjoy it. The other chance is that via social media you'll see that another friend or acquaintance is also going and you'll be able to catch up with them at some point during the night.

Gigs are relaxed and friendly places, I wouldn't worry about turning up by myself.

Stabbitha · 21/01/2020 13:29

@ginandgingers

Honestly, I've cried with frustration today. It's going to be a right scrum for tickets

IHaveBrilloHair · 21/01/2020 13:29

Dd will be!
She loves them, I've not been to a stadium alone but loads of arena stuff, I've three booked this year so far.

notangelinajolie · 21/01/2020 13:31

Yes, I used to go on my own all the time. In my experience random single seats bought last minute are often the best ones 😁

RanchoRelaxo · 21/01/2020 13:32

Haha same band then, good luck for friday guys, hope we all get tickets!

Stabbitha · 21/01/2020 13:35

If I manage to get one I think I'll hyperventilate 🤩

OP posts:
afrikat · 21/01/2020 13:41

I desperately want to go to that but its my daughter's 4th birthday so can't 😭😭😭

supercee · 21/01/2020 13:43

I went to Wembley Stadium on my own. It was great, everyone is there for the exact same reason as you and I got chatting to the guy sitting beside me (also on his own). Absolutely no regrets.

Go for it!
