If you're 5ft 3/5ft 4 and weight less than 8 stone what do you eat in a day?

BringOnTheBotox · 15/01/2020 22:52

I'm 5'3" and around 8 stone 7 and I feel like I look quite chubby still. I have a small frame so I feel like I need to lose a stone or so.

What do you eat in a typical day if you are around my height but weigh less than 8 stone?

If I’m being honest though you sound like you might be body dysmorphic or something as your weight and height certainly don’t suggest you’re chubby, but you seem to describe yourself as being.

3luckystars · 15/01/2020 23:32

I remember reading a thread called 'how long until you were back in your pre pregnancy jeans?' One poster said she walked out of the hospital in them!
Then I read another thread written by her called 'anyone with 5 stone or more to lose'. Of course her jeans fitted her then, she was overweight to begin with.

I had a very different vision in my head. People can leave out facts online.

Listen to your own body, you know what works for you so do that. Good luck.

Starryskiesinthesky · 15/01/2020 23:34

I am 5’4 and 8 stone and although everyone would say I was really thin my stomach and upper body isn’t really. I could do with losing a few pounds or toning up.

For me it’s not the weight that’s important it’s how it’s distributed so I totally get why you want to lose weight.

ivfbabymomma1 I was a size 10 at 10 stone as well. Not on the bottom though, firmly a 12. I’m 5ft 3

RyvitaBrevis · 15/01/2020 23:38

Could your tummy be a bit of bloating, air or water retention rather than fat? I've got a problem with air trapped in there (slow bowels / constipation) and it adds at least one clothing size on me.

"Endo belly" is also something I have experience with, hopefully not an issue for you.

Atthebottomofthegarden · 15/01/2020 23:38

Your weight sounds absolutely fine as it is.

minipie · 15/01/2020 23:54

OP I’m 5’3 and small framed. I think I weigh about 8 stone 4 at the moment.

I know what you mean about looking like you’ve been hammered down Grin.

The thighs, I think that’s inevitable tbh with short legs. We have the same muscles but stretched over a shorter length so they are more bunched up. I have never seen someone my height (past early 20s) with really slim legs - toned and fabulous legs yes but really slender no. If you have bulky quads and want to reduce them, the key is learning to walk using your glutes and tummy muscles rather than your quads.

The tummy, have you had DC? If so you might have separated tummy muscles. Especially if you had a big bump as is common with shorter mum. Some kinds of exercise can actually make the problem worse and create a domed effect.

So it may be more down to doing the correct kind of exercises rather than eating less/losing weight. If you do try to lose weight, I wouldn’t aim for a stone. The last time I was under 8 stone I really looked ill. At our height losing just a few lb has a big impact.

goodforbrian · 15/01/2020 23:55

Op, whilst I am sure you look fabulous I understand how unflattering photos can make you feel a bit self conscious.
I am 5'2 and was 8 1/2 stones for a number of years and whilst I knew I was petite and maybe 'smaller' than some friends etc I too just felt a bit 'chubby' for my frame if that makes sense? (Not saying you are chubby AT ALL btw, I just know how you might feel).
Being short, I find, even an extra couple of pounds 'show' more - and like you, my tummy was (I felt for me and my figure) out of proportion for my frame.
I am now 7.10 stones and I feel much healthier in myself. I still have my boobs and a bum but I feel strong and toned.

Food wise, what helped me was swapping naughty snacks for healthy snacks. Think brown toasted pittas with humous, or olives and hams instead of junk.
My main meals are mainly healthy, stirfrys with lots of veg, rice/noodle dishes and slow cooked stews.
Also, and this really helped me... no 'diet' fizzy drinks. Swap for soda water and a slice of lime. I don't know how it works but it does!
Ps. I still smash my Friday night takeaway every week and eat what ever the hell I like for one evening and it doesn't affect the scales at all.
Hope this helps x

VenusTiger · 16/01/2020 00:06

This is difficult as everyone has different bone mass, muscle mass and breast size. Your head alone weighs a stone OP! I'm 5ft 4 and don't know what I currently weigh - my clothes still fit well (that's how I measure it now mostly) and I'm a size 10. I eat healthily, but I also "enjoy" myself too - I eat treats and I'm not obsessed over it.
I feel "chubbier" to use your expression when I'm due on.

Fantail · 16/01/2020 05:20

I’m a similar height to you and at 8 stone I fit a size 6/8 on bottom and 8/10 on top. I have a very wide rib cage. If I lost weight it wouldn’t change that and I’d look horrible. Only thing that improves a stomach pooch is exercise.

My question OP would not necessarily be what you weigh, but what you’d like your measurements to be and how much exercise you do.

Exercise is probably going to make a bigger difference to your shape than losing weight.

YouMaySayImADreamer · 16/01/2020 05:48

OP I know what you mean. I am 5ft 4 and at 8st 5 I look slim but still chubby in places despite going to the gym regularly. It is mainly my arms and tummy. I couldn't wear a bikini at this weight as my tummy and hips still have excess fat on them and I feel self conscious wearing sleeveless tops. This is genuinely despite focusing on toning these areas, low carbs etc. I have to lose a LOT of weight for fat to come off these areas.

I have genuinely seen people who are a lot heavier than me, look slimmer and better in a bikini. I have realised that I must have a tiny frame.

Lots of people tell me I am tiny but I dress well to cover my arms and tummy.

I have been 7st 4 many years ago and looked very petite but not gaunt at all. It was very difficult to maintain though. I ate hardly any carbs, mostly protein, veg and salad and drank gallons of water.

LaPufalina · 16/01/2020 06:08

I'm 5'3"/8st10-12 and a pear-shaped size 10. Can eat almost what I like because of breastfeeding and running but when I stop either of those it's going to bite me. I could do with being 8st7 but it's an arse or face decision Grin
My mum weighs about a stone less at 5'1" and definitely works at it. Fruit salad for breakfast, salad for lunch, a fast evening once a week and a fair bit of cardio.

CheddarGorgeous · 16/01/2020 06:21

Hi OP I'm 5'2" at 9st3lb. I've just started the Low Carb Boot Camp in the hope of losing up to a stone.

I'm normal BMI and a size 10 but I have a tummy and thighs like you.

Everyone has different metabolisms so you have to work out what works best for you.

YouJustDoYou · 16/01/2020 06:26

My mum is 5'1 and eats fuck all, which is why she's miniscule weight-wise. Same as MIL. MIL is a bit taller but maybe a UK 4 - happily told me she "can only eat salad, to ensure the (copious amounts of) wine she drinks doesn't make her fat"

YouJustDoYou · 16/01/2020 06:28

Also, have only ever seen her pick at salad for the past 20 years, so i can imagine she's telling the truth.

DisinterestedParty · 16/01/2020 06:33

5ft1 and weigh 7 and a half stone. Not a "stick", don't starve myself as some people like to imply. I have narrow shoulders and a small frame but still quite curvy.

Since you're a little taller, I can't imagine you're actually chubby at all. Maybe just tone up a bit if you want to.

I think in terms of food, I don't put on weight easily because I only eat processed stuff as a snack, I don't eat shop bought sauces or whatever. I eat a lot of chocolate and stuff but main meals are freshly made.

userabcname · 16/01/2020 06:34

I'm 5'3 and used to weigh 7 and a half stone. I basically ate very very little. People used to ask me if I was anorexic all the time! And I am small framed - small wrists, hands, size 3 feet etc. Between 8 stone 3 and 8 stone 7 I felt best I believe. Now I'm much more than that after 2 kids! I am chubby - you definitely are not!

noneedtoberudedear · 16/01/2020 06:35

I’m 5,4 and currently weigh 7 stone 11lb.
I’m lighter now than before I got pregnant (have 15 month old twins) However I wouldn’t say I look that much slimmer as previously I was more toned as I used to work out (no time post DCSad) I’m also still breastfeeding so burning calories that way.

In a typical day I have...

Breakfast: toast or cereal, perhaps scrambled egg on toast if I’m feeling adventurous.

Lunch: Tbh usually nothing! I’ll have a coffee, perhaps a few biscuits and pick at some of the babies left overs.

Dinner: Pasta, Quorn fajitas, Quorn Bolognese (I’m vegetarian) etc. Sometimes again I’ll cook separately for the twins and just pick at their left overs.

I’m also a chocolate addict and consume far too much sugar. Actually seeing that all written down has made me realise how unhealthy I am at the minute!

DisinterestedParty · 16/01/2020 06:36

Oh and I don't drink fizzy drinks unless I'm out or we get takeout. We don't keep coke or whatever in the house, or snacks either really. It stops mindless grazing. If I want chocolate, I have to walk to the shop to get it, which I will do pretty often but at least it's a bit of exercise at the same time.

noneedtoberudedear · 16/01/2020 06:37

@YouJustDoYou Sounds like we have the same mum!

separatedandseething · 16/01/2020 06:45

*minipie

How is this done?

MrsPworkingmummy · 16/01/2020 06:47

Hi OP, I'm 5ft 4 and weigh 9 and a half stone. I look slim overall, and wear an 8-10 but definitely have a tummy and wide hips since having the two children. I'd love to get down to 8 and a half stone, but that's probably unrealistic as I love food. I was last 8 stone before I had my children and looked far too thin. I hope you find happiness within yourself soon.

CountFosco · 16/01/2020 06:48

@YouMaySayImADreamer At 5'4" and 7st4 you were very underweight (BMI of 17.4) and will not have looked well. The OP has a BMI of 21 so is right in the middle of the healthy range.

There are several reasons why she might feel chubby. Firstly she might have some body dysmorphia so thinks she is big so actually isn't and it was just an awkward photo. Secondly as a PP said she might have separated tummy muscles. Thirdly, depending on her ethnicity she might be higher in the BMI range than the raw figures suggest, a BMI of 18.5 to 25 is healthy if you are white but some ethnic groups need to maintain a BMI below 23 to avoid health issues. While she is still below that it might be she is carrying more fat than someone else would at that weight. Fourthly, she says she exercises 4 times a week but we don't know what she does, it might be that changing her exercise routine to do more weight bearing exercise would help her tone up.

OP as far as diet goes just make sure you are eating lots of veg and enough protein. Don't cut out any major food groups and don't restrict your diet too much, it's not healthy. One bad photo means nothing.

user1493413286 · 16/01/2020 06:57

I’m 5,3 and weigh eight stone (normally anyway as I’m currently pregnant); I’m a size 8/10 so hardly skinny.
I think that at any weight if you’re eating the wrong foods you can end up with more of a belly compared to the rest of your size. Is it worth asking a personal trainer at the gym? I was going 4 times a week and really toning up (still weighed 8 stone) and the instructor there told me that the next step was looking at what I was eating, not to lose weight but to drop some fat from my tummy and legs so the muscles I was developing could be seen essentially. It was things like reducing sugar, eating healthy fats and more lean food and having a weekly cheat day. He was in amazing shape and still had a McDonald’s every week.

TartanTexan · 16/01/2020 07:07

Body fat percentages are what to focus on. What are yours at this sort of height?
