Red! I love red front doors

Purpleknickers · 13/01/2020 23:49

green gets my vote

Is your house more modern or older?

I loved my childhood house (dads house). A large old cottage, white but covered in ivy with a big heavy wooden from door that was dark green, the contrast of the dark green ivy and dark green door against the actual white walls of the house was beautiful and people often commented on how lovely out house looked.

So dark green would be my go to, but I think it depends on the character of the property too.

Black.

Green doors seem old fashioned in a dated way (sorry to the green door lovers)

CrisisMummy · 14/01/2020 00:02

Deep red ...

crustycrab · 14/01/2020 00:11

Green

74NewStreet · 14/01/2020 00:11

Black.

Bluewater1 · 14/01/2020 00:12

Deep red

DramaAlpaca · 14/01/2020 00:14

I painted my front door dark green 25 years ago... so I agree with the pp who said it's dated.

Paint it black (love that song!) as it'll set off the red stained glass nicely.

ozymandiusking · 14/01/2020 00:21

Blue!

Chocolatemice · 14/01/2020 02:30

Is there any way to check if door colours mean anything in your area? Last year there was a news report that said all asylum seekers in an area had red doors, or something like that.

DNAwrangler · 14/01/2020 02:46

Red!

notangelinajolie · 14/01/2020 02:50

Um very dark blue.

TheJoxter · 14/01/2020 06:45

@Chocolatemice just had to check that because it sounded ridiculous. What actually happened was that the organisation who owned all the houses that asylum seekers were placed in had used generic paint on all the houses, the red doors didn’t ‘mean’ that they were asylum seekers, it was just that the houses available to them happened to mostly have red doors.

jalopy · 14/01/2020 06:45

Red.

MustardScreams · 14/01/2020 06:48

Very dark blue. Or black.

But how can you ask without describing your house in anyway! Brick? Painted? What's around it?

dudsville · 14/01/2020 07:09

Thanks jixter, I'd wondered about that comment.

MissSmith1 · 14/01/2020 09:13

What is the colour of the walls?

Bouledeneige · 14/01/2020 09:21

Dark blue or dark grey.

Spiaggispeciale · 14/01/2020 09:25

Use the direction it faces to help you choose.

What colour is your brick/stone/render? That's the way to decide.

74NewStreet · 14/01/2020 09:29

Black is common? 🤣
