I really wanted to be a pilot then realised o wouldn't make the grade and wanted to be an air hostess. My mother said I would do no such thing that job isn't good enoughI really wish I'd ignored her my cousin then became one and a good friend is one and they have good fun.
I went on to ever the exciting heights of being an accountant Blush

I wanted to be a doctor. But then when I was older I became hideously self conscious about touching people. So that ruled that out.

QueenOfTheSavages · 12/01/2020 23:55

A tightrope walker or a nun. I became neither of those things! Too fat and too sinful.

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 12/01/2020 23:59

Drummer in a rock band

LunaTheCat · 13/01/2020 00:06

I wanted to be a doctor - now I am.
I also fancied being a hairdresser ( you get to hang around cool people looking cool) 😎. Also fancied being a florist as you got to be around beautiful things- now spend as much spare time as possible in the garden. I think being a hairdresser is similar to being a doctor - people tell you all sorts of things, some you would rather not know ☹️

Librarian. I just imagined I could sit and read all day.

Ended up in an office desk job.

monkeytennis97 · 13/01/2020 00:08

From about 13/14 I wanted to be a teacher as my teachers seemed to enjoy their work more than my parents enjoyed theirs (it was the 80s so no where near the accountability of today). I was in a private girl's school though. I have been a teacher for 25 years or so now... the job has changed beyond recognition. Definitely not the job I started in or that my teachers had.

NemophilistRebel · 13/01/2020 00:10

A rally driver

I work in construction and interior fit out

Jasmin82 · 13/01/2020 01:48

I remember sitting with my cousin and his friend at a table in our first year of junior school and being asked to list the 10 things we wanted to be when we grew up. We looked at each other, shrugged and basically copied each other! I wanted to be a vet and if I couldn't be a vet, a pilot (because, you know, 7 year old logic).
I ended up working 16 years in the NHS and am now unable to work due to health.

Gingerkittykat · 13/01/2020 02:26

From 4 onwards I wanted to be a train driver, a police woman, a ballerina (considering I never had dance lessons that was maybe a bit overambitious,) a vet, a doctor, a forensic scientist, a research scientist, a pharmacologist and own my own farm.

I've never done any of those things.

Tillygetsit · 13/01/2020 02:33

At 8 I wanted to be Rumpole of the Old Bailey. I worked in a fairly high profile media job before becoming a SAHM.

aurynne · 13/01/2020 02:33

I have always wanted to be a scientist since I can remember. Uncommonly for childhood wishes, I did become and worked as a scientist for 12 years. Then at 35 years of age I learned a new profession. And who knows, in another 10-15 years I may do it all again :)

S0upertrooper · 13/01/2020 04:34

As a child I wanted to be an undertaker, I was fascinated with death and cemeteries. I also wanted to be a nun, I wasn't Catholic, but to me they looked serene and calm.

As an adult I've done a million and one different things in education and NHS, I get bored easily, but I really wish I'd trained to be a seamstress.

StarlightLady · 13/01/2020 05:02

I wanted to be a bride… Which I never became, then I wanted to be a lawyer, a teacher, or an interpreter. I speak nine languages, and I do do some translation from time to time, but I run a very small charity which I love doing.

Longdistance · 13/01/2020 05:33

Well, I used to love watching aeroplanes as a kid and I also had a mini typewriter and a toy till.

I was cabin crew for 15 years, I also worked in a bank and am now a secretary 😂

Inappropriatefemale · 13/01/2020 05:56

I wanted to be an actress for so long and I always got the female lead in the school play and when I was 12 I joined acting school but I had to act like a firework so I left because I was ‘too cool’ for that nonsenseBlush and that was the end of my dream, I wish I had stuck at it if truth be told.
