I need to get my arse into gear next year, so far, I'm planning on C25k and have signed up to January Cure.

will be attempting to get my hair trimmed more regularly than once a year and I need to eat healthier and cook from scratch more.

Anyone else wanting to join me?

@mildlymiffed @Stilllivinginazoo Thank you both, It all sounds so simple written down but actually doing it all is another thing.

I'm going to write it all down, then set reminders on my phone, including DC bedtime.

Hopefully once DC back at school it will be easier to manage.

I lost my son 6 years ago and my daughter Tammy in 1969 at 8 months. My so was 43years and grandson 28 years. My grandsons mom died December 3 at 47.... I have no more children. Corey has a twin that is taking it hard Tyler....I need help to get me started......Thank you!!!!

mildlymiffed · 05/01/2020 08:20

@kevin0570 you've had a terrible time. Please look after yourself in all of this. Imagine that at the moment it is one day at a time.

CanISpeakToYourManager · 05/01/2020 18:54

Kevin you've had an awful time. Sometimes taking control of your surroundings and environment can be helpful but sometimes it can feel like too much of an additional burden. Only you know what is right.

Bought myself a static cling whiteboard weekly planner and have our activities all set out for the week.

Need to get my head around meal planning :/

LoisEinhorn · 05/01/2020 19:20

I'm starting tomorrow when the kids go back - diet and exercise wise. Need to get my fitbit charged.
Already started on decluttering. We cleared out our bedroom today as that tends to be our dumping ground and we got some stuff down from the loft. Aiming to get everything in plastic labelled boxes. Sorting through toiletries and medicines so they are all in one place and i can see what needs using.
Getting my debts paid and giving more to charity.
Spending less!

DontGoIntoTheLongGrass · 05/01/2020 20:12

Fitbit charging tonight 😚

Had a horrendous weekend where I nearly failed a fitness test and it's been a wake up call to how unfit I really am. The fitness test was a minimum level too Blush I even struggled with the warm up today. Wow I used to be able to dance for hours 10 year ago. What happened Sad

MillieMoodle · 05/01/2020 21:13

@Kevin0570 I'm so sorry you are having such an horrendous time. I
hope that we can help in some small way.

I've just been catching up with the thread as I've still not been able to shake off this cold and blocked sinuses, so have felt quite rough this week.

About to paint nails ready for the week.

DH and I have decided to try a plant-based diet and cut out the meat/animal products to see if it makes a difference to energy levels etc. Watched The Game Changers on Netflix earlier in the week (about athletes who follow a plant-based diet) and it's very thought provoking!

Spartonian · 06/01/2020 00:02

@Kevin0570 go easy on yourself, you have been through a lot, take everyday as it comes and perhaps try the January cure Link is here one small thing a day apparently, it starts tomorrow.

I'm going to see how I get on with the January cure that starts tomorrow.

I have my gym gear ready.

Watch is charging so I won't be able to track my sleep tonight but will have it ready for the morning.

I cheated a bit with the facial routine and have smothered my face in sudocreme due to the amount of spots I realised I had.

Still haven't written any of the diary's I was going to start, will try to find time for that tomorrow.

Meal planning and weekly DC activities are sorted and written down for everyone to check when needed.

I have bought a few disposable shower caps so I can use a deep conditioner on my hair as it gone horribly dry lately.

I have semi done my nails, just need to give them a coat of paint tomorrow at some point.

I'm still in bed later than I would like but will work on that during the week.

I have seen a couple of free courses on future learn I would like to attempt and have signed up to start them, it's only two hours a week so I might do half an hour, as part of my bedtime/evening routine.

@MillieMoodle hope you managed to get nails painted and start feeling better soon.

I read some good ideas on here thought I would share.

I still need to catch up on the housework daily emails and need to write my diary.

I still need to sort the 3 cupboards in the office and clear out the kitchen cupboards.

Stilllivinginazoo · 11/01/2020 19:15

Hi spartonian
I have not done as well as wanted with self care, but have managed to go thru everyone's clothes, weeding out stuff outgrown/not worn.learned how to fold efficiently so they remained are super tidy/neat!
Kitchen cupboards are sorted- bought some fridge organising boxes.fir us game hanging as I can now take out box with nuts/seeds etc in and no spillages all over fridge,or get lost at back unseen so I end up buying more!!
Baskets bought to tackle my room.thats a big job as dumping ground...

Deffo climbing back on self-care wagon tonight
Bathroom boitzed

Spartonian · 11/01/2020 21:10

@Stilllivinginazoo well done, that's all positive for you.

My self care is hit and miss but I have done a couple of evenings.

Still haven't painted toe nails but have done finger nails.

I need to write a list tomorrow of all the big jobs that need doing just so I can pick one depending on what time I have spare.

@Kevin0570 I'm so very sorry to hear of your losses. You must be in so much pain. Have you contacted Cruse for bereavement counselling. I've heard such good things about them.
I haven't got too far with my goals as became very depressed and am now in process of switching meds which means I can't do a lot.
Power walked for an hour this morning but now my plantar fasciitis is playing up.
@Spartonian how are you doing now?

MillieMoodle · 13/01/2020 17:50

I'm still here too! Have had some phone/internet issues and haven't been able to get onto mumsnet recently.

Had a really busy week last week at work so didn't do much self-care or getting my act together all week.

Had a productive weekend though - painted my nails last night ready for the week at work. Finally took the Christmas decorations down yesterday so the house is feeling bigger and tidier. Just got to take the outside lights down next weekend. Sorted out a load of kids clothes and listed on Facebook and sold almost all of them so have earned 20-odd quid towards our holiday spending money. Have been trying to remember to drink more water. Have massively reduced the amount of meat I eat since 6th Jan and have already got more energy for it.

DH and I are trying to clear the spare room which has been a dumping ground for too long. Have sorted all the clothes and next job is to start on the wardrobe. I'm trying to do a bit each night to get towards a tidier, less cluttered house!

Hope everyone is doing well. Will try to keep up with the thread a bit more this week!

I'm sorry to hear you haven't been well @ravensoaponarope, I hope you are feeling better soon.

CanISpeakToYourManager · 14/01/2020 13:44

I've been doing some tidying bits - a cupboard or a drawer most days. Feels good. Empowering.

Watch decluttering and clean-with-me videos on your tube as I find them motivating and strangely comforting.

Have been managing to get and get moving most days. Felt out of sorts the last couple of days and then came out in a cold which I think is quite common with me!

Spartonian · 14/01/2020 22:50

@MillieMoodle that's great, well done on the kids clothes and the decluttering.
Glad you finally got your nails painted.

@ravensoaponarope Everything has gone a bit backwards here, DDog went over the rainbow bridge, this weekend and a load of personal stuff that is taking up most of my head space at the moment.

I did spend yesterday quietly sorting the clean washing and got rid of the clothes that are too small/stained/holes while sorting.

I have a list of what I need to buy before I start on the kitchen cupboards.
I decided it was pointless sorting if I still don't have anywhere organised to store.

Have managed to keep on top of the kitchen since starting and I love, coming down in the morning, to a clean and empty kitchen but is has meant staying up later and making sure it's clean after adult DC have gone bed.

I need to add "do something" with the pile of socks to my list, I keep stepping over the pile and pretending it's not really there, it's a mixture of paired up socks, odd socks and socks that are too small.

Well done @CanISpeakToYourManager I love that feeling once something is finally sorted and the satisfaction of a job well done.

I will confess I have not done any, of the "one thing a day"emails and I really want to, just need to get my arse in gear.

I'm still managing to walk, 4/7 days, which is better than the 0/7 I was doing.
I'm remembering to charge and wear the watch, I seem to get around 7 hours of sleep every night, according to the watch.

Tomorrow I must read the new diary/journal and start on writing that.

Been watching this thread but haven't posted yet! My goal this year is to make sure everyone has a nice space to come home to and visit, which means keeping on top of things so they're guest ready! I've got the downstairs sorted; to the point where it takes just a couple of minutes to flick round in the mornings. Want to move this to a tidy up in the evenings, but there just never seems to be any time (breastfed baby who takes over 2 hours to go down for bed!) The challenge has been the upstairs - two bedrooms and a spare laundry room. Baby's room is an absolute tip (she's not in it yet!) Sorting old clothes out and old moses basket/furniture that she no longer uses, but don't have anywhere to put it as the loft isn't fit for storing things atm! DH is sleeping in there as well atm, and he's not the tidiest, so it's all just stacking up and I've given up for the time being! Might tackle it a bit later on and just do a tiny bit at a time. We're renovating the bathroom as well soon, so there's that to look forward to! Oh and the garden at some point this year...

I will need this thread!

Stilllivinginazoo · 17/01/2020 06:46

I now have 3full bags for the charity shop!
Self-care is still not going great, deffo needs work.but house looks much better, and that I'm itself is giving me a lift
