I need to get my arse into gear next year, so far, I'm planning on C25k and have signed up to January Cure.

will be attempting to get my hair trimmed more regularly than once a year and I need to eat healthier and cook from scratch more.

Anyone else wanting to join me?

Scratch cooking.

Spartonian · 30/12/2019 19:22

New gym gear has been tried on and I'm in a size 16-18.

The new trainers are comfortable and £18 from Tesco.

I need to be better too. Going on holiday in July so need to get beach ready.

Lose 2 stone
Give up sugar, gluten or whatever else is bad for me
Make more home made meals and stop eating takeaways
Alot more exercise. Dh is doing a 10 mile a day cycle for Mind for January. I'm going to join him on the treadmill.
I want to pay off a load of debt this year. Hoping less takeaways will help Grin
Lots of decluttering and housework to get on top off. Sick of living on a building site.

Let's do this!!

MillieMoodle · 30/12/2019 21:23

@DontGoIntoTheLongGrass I have got a beach holiday in July too! And also want to lose 2 stone before then. Where are you going to?

Another aim for this year is to clear out the spare room so it can actually be used.

Spartonian · 30/12/2019 21:29

I just cut my own hair too using the MN method from 2012 Grin
Only took just over an inch off and DC say it looks no different.

OP posts:
PhoenixReincarnated · 30/12/2019 22:22

@MillieMoodle I've done nothing today, apart from go to the doctors this morning. Feeling pretty rubbish and I never get the chance to just chill on the sofa, so that's what I've done pretty much all day.

You have been productive. self care is as much about resting when you need to as it is about painting your nails/exercising etc.

I could do with sort my diet and exercise out. I also need to continue decluttering the house and also decorating, which will be a lot easier if I succeed with the decluttering.

There's other stuff too but I don't want to take too much on at one time and end up doing none of it.

CanISpeakToYourManager · 31/12/2019 08:13

I have just cleaned my study - been up since 6 so spent half an hour wiping over my desk and putting bits away. Just need to empty the bins now. Feels nice to start 2020 with a clean desk.

I have new years resolution which is to actually play the guitar I got for my birthday, even if it is just five minutes a day. I need to get over my fear of disturbing people, which I think is actually a fear of people hearing me! Five minutes of rubbish guitar playing is not the end of the world for anyone, especially since I have a study where I can shut the door.

Spartonian · 31/12/2019 10:54

@CanISpeakToYourManager good idea, I really don't think 5 mins a day will disturb anyone so I would not worry at all.

I need to start using cash back sites for as much as I can, if I'm going to be paying out money anyway, I might as well get something back for it.

OP posts:
Spartonian · 31/12/2019 10:55

@MillieMoodle how are you feeling today?

OP posts:
Spartonian · 31/12/2019 12:09

I'm also going to try and keep a spending diary, just so I can track, where and what on my money goes, have tried it before but lasted about two days.

OP posts:
Stilllivinginazoo · 31/12/2019 16:46

*Bought a notebook as a daily journal, exercise book as food diary as I find if I write down what I eat I can see best where to start making improvements
*Ordered self few new basic t-shirts
*Bought a face scrub, mask and moisturiser and have agreed to do with teen daughter
*Signed up for new year 30 day yoga with Adrienne online
*Shopped for decent basic ingredients to feed myself healthier options

Just the act of doing these things has really made a difference somehow

Spartonian · 31/12/2019 18:29

@Stilllivinginazoo yes, it's very helpful to have everything organised, it helps to keep the goal in mind.

Unfortunately, I'm still clearing the house and I'm getting worried I will run out of time.

OP posts:
Spartonian · 31/12/2019 21:31

I'm still sorting the house, DC have done their own bedrooms.

OP posts:
Spartonian · 01/01/2020 10:40

Day one, had to leave the kitchen cupboards but all other cupboards and drawers done.

It was lovely to walk downstairs this morning and see everything still clear and clutter free, I found a home for everything, even the DC have no excuse not to put things back where they belong.

mildlymiffed · 01/01/2020 10:43

Yay! Well done. I am v tired today after a party last night but I am going for a walk!

Stilllivinginazoo · 01/01/2020 11:23

Well done spartonian

I have been on hour and half brisk walk at local nature reserve whilst DC power around on bikes
I don't do breakfast/eat well..I've had a small banana and an oatcake.

Spartonian · 01/01/2020 13:33

Well done @mildlymiffed and @Stilllivinginazoo.
I'm not planning on doing much, working my way through half a tub of Mini Cheddars and half eaten packs of biscuits while catching up on the TV I have missed.

OP posts:
MillieMoodle · 01/01/2020 15:35

@Spartonian still feeling rough but went out last night and so am also really tired today! Had a BBQ at a neighbour's house earlier and have been lying on the sofa since we got home, making the most of the opportunity to laze about, as I am back to work tomorrow. At least it's only two days and then it's the weekend!

Going to paint my nails tonight once the DC are in bed and also start a journal/log for keeping track of whether I've been looking after myself properly or not. I think it will be a good motivator if I can see how I've done in various areas each week/month - bed at a decent time, drunk enough water, eaten fruit/veg etc. I started last year and didn't even keep it up for a week Blush.

I usually start my New Years resolutions on 2nd Jan as 1st Jan is usually my last day off work!

Spartonian · 02/01/2020 00:19

Day one and I managed to write my new diary, paint my nails, had a bath with new bubble bath and used a face cleanser before bed.

Everything other than the kitchen was still clean and clear, will get kitchen done in the morning as I was not doing any washing or washing dishes today, not normally superstitious but have had a lot of shit over the last 2/3 years so have done none of what I normally do on the 1st.

Hope everyones day 1 went to plan.

Stilllivinginazoo · 03/01/2020 04:15

Foaming facewash and night cream before bed achieved
Also spent 20 mins on exercise bike
Tidy out kitchen cupboards
Help dd organise her desk
5mi s deep slow breathing

Spartonian · 03/01/2020 19:45

I achieved 0 on the self care front yesterday, my motivation seems to of left me already.

Have managed to keep on top of the house

DC bedtime routine is completely non existent so I have been trying to get that back but mine is ruined too.

OP posts:
ravensoaponarope · 03/01/2020 20:38

Mine:
To keep working on my eating disorder
Keep up good skincare routine
Tidy/organise bedroom drawer
Work out proper budget
Give more to charity

tinatsarina · 03/01/2020 21:38

Mine is limit takeaway to Friday night but that's if we want one.
Get motivated again with open uni work.
Start pampering myself more so I can use up bath sets I got for Christmas.
I'm due end of Feb so once baby's here I'll aim to get out walking with the pram when the eldest is at school

mildlymiffed · 03/01/2020 23:36

@spartinian. Treat it like a minor blip. Be kind to yourself. Tomorrow is another day, and you'll be back on the self-care wagon.

Stilllivinginazoo · 04/01/2020 06:36

spartonianit takes 3-60 days to set a new habit, meanwhile you log away at it.it isn't a fail to miss a day.i didn't get chance my new face routine last night.world hasn't ended,I try again today and will make effort do something foryself earlier in day too.we never judge friends as harshly as we judge ourselves, proving we need to kinder and less judgemental of ourselvesFlowers
