I'm hosting a Boxing Day buffet, what are you bringing?

I'm hosting on Boxing Day, I'm trying to write my shopping list! But with everything else going on, my brain has turned to mush.

Help me, what do you serve at these things?

I'd like it to be fairly easy. I'm no Gordon Ramsey but above all, I don't want it to be too time consuming.

One attendee has a fish allergy!

Thanks 🎄

Cheese and pineapple hedgehogXmas Grin

Pepperwand · 16/12/2019 18:16

Smoked salmon and blinis....shop bought.
Crackers and a cheeseboard, grapes and pate
Picked onions
Those part baked rolls and some nice sausages cooked with a bit of wholegrain mustard and honey
American style bean dip. Recipes online but essentially refried beans mixed with taco seasoning, cream cheese and baked in the oven with more cheese on top. Serve hot with tortilla chips. It's like crack....bloody addictive!

Vagndidit · 16/12/2019 18:18

Picky bits 😁

Mrsjayy · 16/12/2019 18:18

TimeforanotherChange · 16/12/2019 18:20

Ham.

I always do a massive baked ham with honey/whole grain mustard or something similar on top on Boxing Day. Goes very nicely with cold turkey, salad and trifle.

I love Boxing Day more than Christmas often.

BeyondMyWits · 16/12/2019 18:23

Slow cooker vegetable chilli. With nacho chips, soured cream, salsa, guacamole, cheese and chunks of cook it yourself baguettes. Couple of pizzas on the side, always goes down well here

Balloondog · 16/12/2019 18:24

Cheese fondue (in a slow cooker for large numbers) with bread, sausages, potatoes, cherry tomatoes, cornichons, pickled onions, broccoli/cauliflower florets, apple slices. Feels decadent and Christmassy, looks like a lot of effort, but actually it's a doddle Grin

Fucck · 16/12/2019 18:26

Love all these ideas, they're kicking the arse of anything I had thought of Grin

Oh i love christmas food I think boxing day is also my favourite eatingday

SurpriseSparDay · 16/12/2019 18:28

Islay single malt.

Chestnuts for roasting.

The Christmas cake I have singularly failed to make this year.

HistoriaTrixie · 16/12/2019 18:28

Slow cooker with a rich, warming soup - I'd probably do minestrone.

catwithflowers · 16/12/2019 18:30

Similar to Gorbie but we also have a pork loin joint (that needs using up in the freezer), some gammon (left over from my daughter’s Christmas dinner), some shop bought tempura prawns, chicken goujons, lots of cheese and a big green salad. Plus all the chocs left over from Christmas. Oh and some Delia sausage rolls which are in the freezer. We are away for Christmas Day this year and will get back around 2 hours before all the kids and their partners arrive so need to do speedy/get it on the table quick things that don’t need a lot of faff.

catwithflowers · 16/12/2019 18:31

pepperwand, I sometimes make that refried bean dip and love it!!

chillychicken · 16/12/2019 18:33
