I'm hosting a Boxing Day buffet, what are you bringing?

I'm hosting on Boxing Day, I'm trying to write my shopping list! But with everything else going on, my brain has turned to mush.

Help me, what do you serve at these things?

I'd like it to be fairly easy. I'm no Gordon Ramsey but above all, I don't want it to be too time consuming.

One attendee has a fish allergy!

Thanks 🎄

Mini quiches - you can buy a pack of 12 from sainsburys to be eaten hot or cold.

Curried eggs for something a bit different.

Baked brie with dipping crackers.

Homemade sausage rolls

Kettle crisps

Chocolate log

Cheesecake

After eight mints to have with coffee

This thread is making me hungry. Roll on Boxing Day.

After Christmas food I always crave a change. Curry (Indian or Thai), Chinese stir fry stuff, Japanese. Something to mix up the protein:carb:fat:vegetable ratio, and something a bit exciting.

So, I’d do a massive Thai green curry with rice, frozen spring rolls and Chinese pancakes, samosas, roti/naans with chicken tikka masala, bhajis etc

A huge tiger bread. I'm going to cut a hole in the middle and pop a Camembert inside. Turn it into a hedgehog (Google) bring it in a tray ready to pop in oven.

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 16/12/2019 19:30

A ham, boiled in cider then glazed with mustard and sugar and studded with cloves and baked.

@IHaveBrilloHair

I made one of these for D neice’s Birthday, after being reminded of them on here. It was a hit with all ages!

BettyJean · 16/12/2019 19:32

Doesn’t have to be cheese and pineapple though. Cheese and ham or a pickled onion are great too.

StCharlotte · 16/12/2019 19:32

Those part baked rolls and some nice sausages cooked with a bit of wholegrain mustard and honey

My DSIL has to bring two lots to our family get-togethers: one for everyone and one for me Crown Grin

I'll be bringing banoffee pie (biscuit base natch).

I can't imagine hosting on boxing day.
House is usually in a tangle, we are all a little hungover, piles of presents everywhere kitchen still disordered.
We do host close family ( 12 ) near christmas but only onn 28th or 28th.
Gives us time to tidy, clean and enjoy preparations.
OH cooks a big ham, with a fancy glaze, we have salad, new boiled minted potatoes, breads, pickles, buffet style.
