My first and only thought is "I hope the security staff patrolling her compound are fine"

must be an inside job. How did they know their way around house, safe etc. Let alone get into the house, the street has loads of security

megletthesecond · 16/12/2019 17:23

Inside job I reckon. They knew what they were doing.

beanaseireann · 16/12/2019 17:25

I was Shockwhen I'd see articles about her in the DM and the flaunting perhaps unintentionally of wealth.
I wondered about security and how wise was it to be posting about her life publicly but presumed her security would be top notch with advice from her Dad, whose mother in law was kidnapped I think.
Thank goodness it doesn't appear that anybody was injured.

TheQueef · 16/12/2019 17:26

It was Mosad obvs Hmm
Seriously though I bet that's the first burglary rushed to by the plod.
I thought they just have reference number over the phone these days.

nancy75 · 16/12/2019 17:28

How can it not be an inside job? They were in the house for nearly an hour, so must have turned off the alarms

SebandAlice · 16/12/2019 17:32

I am all for spend what you want if you have it but €50 million is an obscene amount of money to spend on jewellery. I have said it before but at the rate the two Ecclestone sisters spend, the money will be gone within two generations.

LaurieFairyCake · 16/12/2019 17:32

Well I'm sure they've got great insurance

Insane levels of wealth

FatBlobbyBob · 16/12/2019 17:37

If I had that amount of money, I think I would live somewhere rural/remote. Not on a street.

But Im a miserable fucker Crown Hmm

I do realise they probably have about 200 rural properties that they own & spend weekends at.

Lindy2 · 16/12/2019 17:37

I can't get past the fact that anyone has £50 million of jewellery. It seems so shallow to own so much of something like that, that I'm assuming is mostly left unused. I'm generally all for letting people spend their own money how they wish but such massive sums could do so much more good than sit there as shiny stuff in a clearly not so secure safe.

Dapplegrey · 16/12/2019 17:38

Laurie do you mean you hope they weren’t hurt in the burglary or you hope they won’t be sacked for not stopping the burglary?
It must be an inside job.

WingBingo · 16/12/2019 17:40

Nobody deserves to have their home violated, however they choose to spend their money.

3drawercinemaclub · 16/12/2019 17:42

Meh. Nobody was hurt as far as we know.

It’s fucking obscene to own that amount of shit when people are starving in the streets

LaurieFairyCake · 16/12/2019 17:44

Either, both.

It would be awful if they were sacked and awful if they got hurt defending bits of expensive rock

£50m worth of jewellery in the house though! I wonder where they store the good stuff. It's very difficult to get your head around that sort of wealth.

My first thought was that it must be an inside job because the security there must be the best available.

KittensInABasket · 16/12/2019 17:48

God, the amount of good that kind of money could do. Sad

Singlenotsingle · 16/12/2019 17:49

3drawer I agree. Although my thread on this subject, saying the same as you, has just been struck out by MN, so beware!

cokehoke · 16/12/2019 19:00

I mean 50m is a lot obviously but Bernie has a fortune of 2 billion plus so what else can you spend it on.

SapatSea · 16/12/2019 19:06

What else can you spend it on?

Doing something good in the world for those without rich papa's?

It's obscene

GirlRaisedInTheSouth · 16/12/2019 19:07

God, the amount of good that kind of money could do.

You could say that about any of us though. How much is YOUR jewellery worth? A couple of grand if you have an engagement ring? Maybe more? Think of the good you could do with the money if you sold it all.

VenusClapTrap · 16/12/2019 19:57

True, but we all only have one neck, two wrists and ten fingers. There is a limit to how much jewellery you can actually use.

No comment on the thread but I love your username VenusClapTrap [hearteyes].

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/12/2019 20:00

If I had billions I’d buy that much jewellery.

TSSDNCOP · 16/12/2019 20:02

My money’s on the super shady BIL. It’s got to be an inside job. That said if you flaunt it about like the Ecclestone sisters someone’s going to try.

Adviceplease1234 · 16/12/2019 20:06

I’m not sure how in good conscious you could own jewellery worth that much. Think of the lives that money could change.

That said, I feel terrible for them as no one deserves to feel violated and unsafe.

TwattyMcTwatface · 16/12/2019 20:06

I used to be a house manager for a billionaire (not Ecclestone!). They didn't insure anything kept at home because of the premiums. If the wife got in a tantrum about something, she'd strop off to Bond St and spend £250k on random jewellery that I'd add to the inventory but would never be worn, or even looked at again.

The very rich are very different. (And it's usually fucking shit working for them Grin)
