Thinking of moving back. Any recommendations?

Have you not watched Midsomer Murders? Nowhere, literally nowhere is safe.

thegreylady · 14/12/2019 13:34

Some lovely small market towns/villages in Shropshire and the bigger places, like Ludlow and Shrewsbury, are beautiful.

Megan2018 · 14/12/2019 13:40

Rural Rutland/Leicestershire border here. Very safe and beautiful countryside-however it is Tory badlands and we shoot Labour voters and for sport Wink

In the little hamlet I live in we recently had what is now known as bingate.
The recycling bins weren't collected. After numerous calls from neighbours this was sorted out a week later. It had us texting each other all week for updates. Sadly the situation became more out of control and distressing when the bins were put back in the wrong places and neighbours accidentally took bins that didn't belong to them. I tell you it was mayhem

@movingdilemma1234
Sounds like our hamlet! We had similar over someones dog pooing in the churchyard (hardly any houses here but bloody big church for some reason). There was a flurry of texting trying to determine who the culprit was. Knit and natter group could talk of nothing else!

SpiderCharlotte · 14/12/2019 14:16

@wellthatwasthat Hi!! Grin

We did have some problems recently in our village when someone staged a protest by parking across the entrance to the village hall to (ironically) highlight the lack of parking available. The lady in question blocked several cars in and out. Boy did it kick off, so if that kind of scares you OP then these mean bridleways streets are not for you!

sockittome123 · 14/12/2019 14:23

Bedfordshire over here too

BobbinThreadbare123 · 14/12/2019 14:26

I live in the Lakes. It's anarchy here. Someone has been leaving bits of litter on the bus. Don't come here; not safe.

DioneTheDiabolist · 14/12/2019 14:28

I live in poorer inner city area. Last week my DS2(2) lifted a box of washing pods from the shop. I didnt realise until we were on our way home.Xmas Shock It's crime central around here.Xmas Grin

midsomermurderess · 14/12/2019 14:34

No, all of it is feral and completely out of control. Best say where you are. Xxx💕❣️

taybert · 14/12/2019 14:35

Actually, I take it all back, I had to get past this menacing gang blocking the path on my run last week. It’s mob rule here.

Almost everywhere. It’s one of the most liberal countries in the world.

Most places in the U.K. are safe. Very few are nice and they cost an awful lot.

skippy67 · 14/12/2019 14:47

Nope. Nowhere is safe. We're all doomed!!

Lifeoverhaul · 14/12/2019 15:06

I've never once felt unsafe in the UK and I've lived in a few different areas.

thelikelylass · 14/12/2019 15:09

These are all nice:
Whitechapel
Broadchurch
Midsomer
Holby
Brookside
Ambridge
All places have social problems but these places always seem to have plenty of police around.

absopugginglutely · 14/12/2019 15:09

@viques wow!
Cancer, domestic violence and menstruation aren’t (in your book) appropriate from WOMAN’S HOUR?!?!
You’re funny.

@thelikelylass

Ahhhh! Someone who might be able to help! Why can’t I buy Whitechapel Season 4 on DVD?

Lol at Whitechapel, I suppose if DI Chandler was your neighbour 😍

viques · 14/12/2019 15:15

Dear Abso did you forget to take your irony tablet this morning? I took mine.

SashayThatWay · 14/12/2019 15:16

I don't leave the house without a knitting needle down each welly here in East Sussex

BlackSwanGreen · 14/12/2019 15:18

My parents live in north London, just round the corner from a council estate. They've lived there for nearly 50 years and it's safer now (in terms of crime rate etc) than when I was growing up.

JoJoSM2 · 14/12/2019 15:28

www.police.uk

Here's another website for you. If you go into compare performance, you can compare different areas.

Barnseyboyo · 14/12/2019 15:33

The OP is probably asking this question because of the hyperbole from the left. Especially the way they go on about people who they think would’ve voted for Brexit. You’d have thought the country had turned into one big ghetto the way they went kn

Barnseyboyo · 14/12/2019 15:33

*on

midsomermurderess · 14/12/2019 15:36

Yes, Barnsey, it's all about the left's hyperbole, all about that. But you know, Netmums seems to be up and running again, so there is that for you to go back and enjoy. Xxx💕❤️
