Is it weird to give nursery a replacement class photo with my Ds photoshopped in

Just that really...Ds missed class photo day last Feb. Got around to ordering photos recently and the photo company kindly photoshopped him in and it looks great. I ordered two copies and was going to give one to the school to replace the one on the wall without him....DD going there next year though it'd be nice for her to see him....but when I rang the nursery the receptionist seemed a bit serious and quiet and just said she'll get the teacher to ring me back...now I feel a bit awkward like I'm being a bit precious and a bit embarrassed. Is this a bit weird?

Aww I love this! It’s weird but I love it

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 08/12/2019 21:01

I think OP's request is totally on par with the bonkers way they often do class photos now anyway. In little batches then Photoshop them all together so kids standing next to kids they were nowhere near on the day??? So bizarre. Not a true "picture" of the time anyway. May as well pop another kid in.

oh OP. hahhahahha

fair play for asking.

Hold up, you are talking about a class photo from 10 months ago? As in nearly a year ago?

And your DS is now moved up and is in reception? (I imagine the nursery is the preschool attached to the school your child is now in reception in? Because you cant have gone back to a nursery he has zero ties with to ask this??)

insufferablefury · 08/12/2019 21:07

I think it's very sweet if your dd is going there and will see the photo on the wall. Nice to find a familiar face, it will make her feel at home. Like a lot of people on this thread, many may find it a bit weird, but I can understand the reasoning behind it, so I think it's not that weird.

Lifeinaplasticbox · 08/12/2019 21:09

You'll now be known as 'the Photoshop mum'.blush
This for definite

Legomadx2 · 08/12/2019 21:10

This is hilarious. I will never, ever feel like I'm being precious about one of my children again!

FlamingoQueen · 08/12/2019 21:12

I understand the company photoshopping your dc in. We’ve had that before at school, but to give a copy to school - that’s a bit weird, sorry. There’s always children that miss photos for various reasons - it’s a fact of school life.

Aridane · 08/12/2019 21:16

Bonkers! But very sweet at the same time!

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 08/12/2019 21:16

I understand why you got a copy for your self. Last year my DD missed class photo day, and it was the last photo before the school closed. They all got a copy and she's missing along with another boy.

They did an informal one on a school trip with everyone in and they all signed it and they framed them as a leaving present- the children dispersed around the world.

Dieu · 08/12/2019 21:18

Oh god, please don't be that parent.

BackforGood · 08/12/2019 21:26

This is hilariouis.
Full marks to the Receptionist for managing to restrain her thoughts whilst she was on the phone Grin

AdelaideK · 08/12/2019 21:32

This is hilariously weird. I can't believe you did it.

You are insane.

Some people are obsessed with their children on a completely different level that I will never understand.

Ringsender2 · 08/12/2019 21:35

I don't think it's weird OP. The school should have been thoughtful enough to think of it themselves. The school my kids are at would think of that (they sufggest and offer photoshopping of any kids missing that day). It's not as though you were even asking the school to pay for a replacement copy!

InsertFunnyUsername · 08/12/2019 21:37

OP, dont ever change. Very sweet, very weird and you will be remembered by the teachers for this.

Shoeshow · 08/12/2019 21:42

Absolutely Batshit. I love it.

LH1987 · 08/12/2019 21:47

I love this, you are obviously a very lovely Mom (just a little bonkers in this instance Grin )

Devonishome1 · 08/12/2019 21:54

It made me smile.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 08/12/2019 21:55

I think you’re bloody brilliant 🤣

GabsAlot · 08/12/2019 22:03

A photo from last year what? im glad i never had baby brain

SourAndSnippy · 08/12/2019 22:04

If the teacher calls, laugh a lot and say that you only made the original call for a dare and that you didn’t think anyone would be daft enough to fall for it.

Anyway the joke will be on all of us when this gets in the Daily Fail 😉

I’m trying the think what the headline will be 😅

Oh, just realised it was last year's photo. A bit long agothen, but agree with PPs that it's cute!

FloreanFortescue · 08/12/2019 22:26

OP I just want to hug you. You may be my spirit animal Smile
