Is it weird to give nursery a replacement class photo with my Ds photoshopped in

Just that really...Ds missed class photo day last Feb. Got around to ordering photos recently and the photo company kindly photoshopped him in and it looks great. I ordered two copies and was going to give one to the school to replace the one on the wall without him....DD going there next year though it'd be nice for her to see him....but when I rang the nursery the receptionist seemed a bit serious and quiet and just said she'll get the teacher to ring me back...now I feel a bit awkward like I'm being a bit precious and a bit embarrassed. Is this a bit weird?

Is it one of those really long landscape ones which is actually several photo that have been photoshopped together (often have no shoes or props and white background). Seems less odd then to get one with him in for you.not sure nursery needed one but as you bought it.

BedraggledBlitz · 08/12/2019 19:35

I dont think its weird. It'll cost them nothing and will make a child feel part of the gang.

(Disclaimer I am a tad odd myself!)

I bloody love that you did this, OP.

You are going to be talk of the staffroom!

gamerwidow · 08/12/2019 19:36

Surely when DD goes to nursery that picture won’t be there because they’ll get a new picture for the new intake. It’s nice that you got a full class picture for your records but you can’t expect the nursery to be that bothered. The turn over of children is astronomical they won’t care if some are missing from the class picture in some years.

Her0utdoors · 08/12/2019 19:37

Meh, don't ask, don't get, hold your head high OP. My children are fortunate that their childcare /school are nurturing places which wouldn't blink at doing this.
Dd is 6 and loves looking back through old nursery photos and remembering friends.

JasonPollack · 08/12/2019 19:37

Aw OP I think this is so sweet. Absolutely bonkers mind, but very very sweet.

multiplemum3 · 08/12/2019 19:37

Hahaha no don't do that.

beadybear · 08/12/2019 19:41

O my god you weirdo 😂

Cherrysoup · 08/12/2019 19:42

If you did this at my work, we would definitely think it was a seriously weird thing to do and you would be thought of as the weird mum. Please don’t offer or mention it again.

Lunde · 08/12/2019 19:44

That would be totally weird!

peanutfoldover · 08/12/2019 19:46

I think it’s clever. Why not?!

SunshineCake · 08/12/2019 19:48

Given you did it so your dd could see her brother had gone before I think that is a lovely reason.

Inthemuckheap · 08/12/2019 19:49

OMG just told teacher OH about this as he asked why I was giggling and he said his school had the same (private). Child missed out so mum asked school to photoshop her child in. Photographer came back and took photo of missing child.

BUT when the new class photo arrived, the photographer photoshopped in the wrong child so one little girl was in the photo twice. Grin Grin

Thanks everyone. I realise now it's totally bonkers but the nursery probably had their suspicions already about me. He's the middle child so I'm kinda glad I did something PFB-y for him. Not sure what to do tomorrow if she calls back....maybe be v busy at work.

Did you ask the photographer to shop your child in??

That’s bonkers! I mean it’s next level.

I love that you’ve done it!

You’ve just got to brazen it out now.

CircleofWillis · 08/12/2019 19:59

Perhaps the receptionist went quiet because the current photo already had a photoshopped child in it. Wink

CircleofWillis · 08/12/2019 20:04

Oh I've just realised that he even at the nursery anymore and you daughter isn't there yet. So you don't even have a child at the nursery at the moment. Sorry OP, that is bonkers!

Bezalelle · 08/12/2019 20:11

This is honestly the weirdest thing I've ever read on here. Madness!

rhubarbcrumbles · 08/12/2019 20:11

I don't think it's silly at all, at least not if the school is like the one here where they keep the photos up on the wall for years - my eldest DS left 9 years ago and his year group photo is still up on the wall.

MrsFrostyTheSnowman · 08/12/2019 20:15

It's a bit odd, fair enough he's in it for your records but asking school to put it up is a step too far

zonkin · 08/12/2019 20:18

Of course it's weird.
